I imagine words are being had behind the scenes through diplomatic channels and the like, that by-passing the elected authorities to appeal for help from a drug addled, village idiot who doesn’t even live in your village, is not helping your case but hindering it.

Don't believe it for a minute. This will be WME trying to get them some good press, because they know their only selling point is the royal connection, and because they can hit when Catherine is vulnerable and unable to make any statements herself (either actual or symbolic). But, if I was to play along, MM can start with a public apology for all her shit talk against Catherine and the racism/stepford wife charges from her attack dog, Scobie. And then her husband can get on his knees and beg for forgiveness.

That Vanity Fair article sounds like a Sussex PR piece. My favourite part is the dismissing of Catherine's hurt. It's a classic Sussex move - try and diminish everyone else's experience while exagerating their own. It makes me feel quite queasy.
