Does anyone know where Prince William is?

Errrrr….. where’s Willy? The press focus in the past 24 hours has been perplexing. King Charles’ diagnostic has been the top item, of course. But, bizarrely, the 2nd item has almost invariably been… Prince Harry this and that and the other. Prince HARRY??? What’s with the obsession with him? This should be about Prince WILLIAM! Yet from/about him, absolute silence. What on Earth is going on?

And please don’t start with the “he has to be at his wife’s bedside”. If Harry The Not Next In Line To The Throne And Not Counsellor of State And Can’t Stand In For The King etc etc can fly all the way from Montecito, then William The next King and He Who Should Stand In For King Charles can go visit his Dad in hospital (did he?), rush to be by his dad’s bedside (did he?), make announcements about which official duties he will take up, etc etc.

I know Prince Harry is the one the media are addicted to writing about and slagging off to drive clicks, but can they (and so many on these boards) perhaps take a break from their unhealthy obsession with H (&M) and keep the spotlight where most would expect it to be, on King Charles and, in particular, his successor Prince William?

[Title should read does anyone know...]

Must remember the Mail is to be trusted and worthy of being quoted when it’s slagging off PW. Laughable really and quite, erm, desperate 😂

And any of the Murdoch press and the Mirror when it suits them. Harry’s dragon slaying means nothing then either.

Copying parts of the piece out here so you don't have to give DM click revenue:

or copying parts of the piece out here because you don't want anyone to know that you have a subscription to the DM? 😂

🤣🤣🤣

Looks like the lovely Jan Moir at the Daily Fail has been reading my posts again, as she's decided to literally LAY into Prince William for being a "celebrity flake". Royalists, grab your pearls!

What on earth makes you so convinced I had to pay to access the DM article???

Is that you Jan?😁

I think the fragrant Jan is among us and posting.

I think that's what is called 'delusions of grandeur.' Or as a manager of mine once more succintly summed up, delusions of adequacy.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 02/03/2024 10:18

Spot on with all of it, @Lunde, but as MrsD just said you'd hope that at nearly 40 Harry might just have cut the financial apron strings by now

And I didn't know the Mail had done it too, @AliceOlive, but this "pay for our news" is spreading wildly in the UK ... almost as if they're not getting advertising revenue from all the clicks Hmm

Is it all the time? I don't look at the DM site that much but it seems when I do I can read some articles and not others. The Graun has been asking for my support for years but I just click on 'do it later.' One day there'll be a message saying, NO, DO IT NOW! I'm sure.

GreenClock · 02/03/2024 13:47

I’ve got a soft spot for Bel Mooney in Saturday’s DM but her articles are paywalled now. I was looking forward to reading the last few with a cup of tea today. Oh well.

I can’t access Jan Moir’s artickr either.

I don't know about the "red tops" MrsD - as said I've only just learned the Mail are charging for some supposedly premium stuff - but the Times, Telegraph and Indy have certainly done it for a while

And then as you say there's the Mail in reverse Guardian, which always amuses me too with the "just a reminder ..." and the blurb about "quality journalism"

Not when you look at this it isn't:

Maybe Harry has been reading too much Jung and Campbell. Perhaps his ‘dragon slaying’ quasi-quest is his elaborate attempt to cast himself as a journeying hero. And if so, hopefully he has remembered to script in his grand revelation and epiphany -i.e. the growing the hell up part.

Or maybe he just believes his own hype…

Does anyone know where Prince William is?
Maireas · 02/03/2024 22:47

Too much Jung and Campbell? Too much Mary Jane, more like.

Hmm, I think, Harry's reading level is more like Topsey and Tim.

Or covering parts of the article that focus on William and selectively leaving out Harry and Andrew??

At least it remains free for TallerSally. 🙏 Daily Mail.

‘Looks like the lovely Jan Moir at the Daily Fail has been reading my posts again, as she's decided to literally LAY into Prince William for being a "celebrity flake".’

Ah what a shame, if only you’d used your power for good Sally, and gotten her to write a more uplifting piece instead of something so bleak. Maybe next time eh 🥲

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 03/03/2024 10:33

I reckon this is Yawn Moir trying to show she's a Serious Journalist Who Dares Say What No-one Else Is Saying, as opposed to Amanda Platell, Nadine Dorries and Jenny Murray (all of whom write fluff pieces for the DM).

That, or filling two pages once a week is getting beyond her.

Mylovelygreendress · 03/03/2024 11:12

I think you could be on to something @MrsDanversGlidesAgain

Are BP and King Charles trolling William?😂

These are Charles' engagements of the past 48 hours. The man is currently battling cancer while his fully-healthy, 30+ years younger heir hasn't been seen in 6 days.

My admiration of Charles went up while William continues to be a huge disappointment and I like him a lot but this man's laziness is crazy.

Goodness knows what is going on. And who knows why more people aren't speaking out about it
