Indifference to PoW?

I find it strange that there’s no real interest or concern from the public about POW being in hospital. Nobody seems to be that bothered. If you compare it to the circus if Diana had been in the same situation….. I just find it odd. I always thought she was relatively popular because we’re constantly told she is but actually…. Tumbleweed.

I know it’s her own business etc but it just feels quite odd that somebody can disappear and there is no interest in why. I don’t really know or care what’s happened or why, but the silence is really intriguing. It reminds me of when the brexit referendum happened and I had no idea that there was such strong feeling about the EU…. I had no idea that there was such apathy about the PoW until now. It’s been a real eye opener for me.

I reckon the next generation or two, the monarchy will be gone.

@jeffgoldblum

Tribute at the end to Jonnie Irwin which was delightful but caught me on the hop.

i think its nasty to judge anyone on an illegally obtained conversation.
can't believe people still talk about it.

ArcaneWireless · 05/02/2024 15:55

Quite samcro 👏🏽

goodbyestranger · 05/02/2024 15:55

The conversation is what it is.

Mylovelygreendress · 05/02/2024 15:56

@jeffgoldblum . I have just had a slice of cheesecake . You put me in the mood of something cheesy .

goodbyestranger · 05/02/2024 15:57

Charles is pretty low himself so I'm not going to shed any tears because that conversation reflects as it does on him.

wildernesssw · 05/02/2024 15:57

So, a 30-year old private conversation between consenting adults (which didn't contain hate speech, or anything that threatened or belittled) is the basis of your entire opinion about the individual(s) concerned?

OK.

goodbyestranger · 05/02/2024 15:58

I've said before it doesn't form the basis of my opinion but since I heard it contemporaneously as it was made public, it has certainly coloured my view of Charles for that length of time. There's plenty more which makes me think dimly of him, obviously.

Sorry. Bit late to the (cheese and wine) party but I immediately thought of good old Wallace 😆

wildernesssw · 05/02/2024 16:20

40 years ago, when I was a nipper, we went to see a stage musical version of Treasure Island. It featured Ben Gunn with a troupe of backing dancers dressed as goats, singing a song with the chorus 'Mr Hawkins please! Ain't you got a piece of cheese!'

The rest of the play is now a blank, as is the rest of the song, but my brother and I can still sing (and dance!!!!) the chorus 😂

That sounds like a cracking night out, @wildernesssw ! Dancing goats. Cheese.
Any references to tampons?.

So? No criticism of the then Prince of Wales? Typical, you were being fed pro goat, pro cheese and pro Charles propaganda.

wildernesssw · 05/02/2024 16:26

You're right!!! I've been brainwashed!!!

The cheese wasn't even Wensleydale - the only cheese that counts!

My idea of a spa break

wildernesssw · 05/02/2024 16:30

I bought DD a cheese toastie at the weekend (we had a bit of a road trip), and when she opened the bag it turned out to be made of BROWN BREAD and have CHOPPED SPRING ONION in as well as cheese.

Obviously she rejected it immediately.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. DDog offered to help out if I couldn't manage it all.

Quite right. What kind of fiend puts spring onion on cheese? What is this brown bread of which you speak?

Well the brown bread is all wrong, but cheese and onion is like Charles and tampon. A heaven made match that cannot be broken.

wildernesssw · 05/02/2024 16:33

I look forward to a feminist re-interpretation of Treasure Island that references tampons 😂

ArcaneWireless · 05/02/2024 16:33

In other news, my pie filling is a triumph.

The dog said so.

No derxa, rather the opposite on a number of counts. The fact remains that my view of the guy is that he's weak, dim, puerile and really pretty revolting on phone calls and that view is not now going to change.
