Indifference to PoW?

FaiIureToLunch · 28/01/2024 08:51

I find it strange that there’s no real interest or concern from the public about POW being in hospital. Nobody seems to be that bothered. If you compare it to the circus if Diana had been in the same situation….. I just find it odd. I always thought she was relatively popular because we’re constantly told she is but actually…. Tumbleweed.

I know it’s her own business etc but it just feels quite odd that somebody can disappear and there is no interest in why. I don’t really know or care what’s happened or why, but the silence is really intriguing. It reminds me of when the brexit referendum happened and I had no idea that there was such strong feeling about the EU…. I had no idea that there was such apathy about the PoW until now. It’s been a real eye opener for me.

I reckon the next generation or two, the monarchy will be gone.

Stop peddling drivel?

Their business sure but stop peddling drivel to the public about the most perfect marriages ever.

Who is claiming that they have the 'most perfect marriages ever'?

They had/have marriages that seem(ed) to work for them

When QE2 said Philip had been her 'strength and stay', I find it believable. Not that everyone (or anyone!) should copy them, even if they have a second house available. Just that it worked for her.

Perhaps he won't shut up about tampons.

Dear lord, tampons again.
Who knows what he says in private, and who cares?

Maireas · 05/02/2024 14:57

I've never heard any of them claim such things about their marriages.

wildernesssw · 05/02/2024 14:57

Yes, this obsession about a private conversation from 30 years ago is a bit odd

Maireas · 05/02/2024 14:59

Mr Maireas and myself have separate boudoirs. This is owing to the fact that he snores like there's a bloody tractor in the house. I need my own bedroom. A happy marriage, nonetheless. Of course he doesn't talk about tampons.

wildernesssw · 05/02/2024 15:00

I'm just grateful no-one is hacking/recording the conversations I had with DDog and publicising them. Not that tampons or anything sexual is happening/being discussed, I hasten to add!

Just because I talk complete drivel and probably sound half-witted. Luckily she takes it in the spirit it is intended 😂

ArcaneWireless · 05/02/2024 15:01

When we had a one bedroomed house abroad, I slept in the car or on the lounger. I feel your pain maireas

wildernesssw · 05/02/2024 15:02

There are definitely times being single has its advantages 😂Having the bed to yourself is one of them!

Mind you, between DD and DDog I have to defend my territory with firmness! Both try to wriggle their way in...

Maybe someone should have a word with the King and tell him there are now more ecologically sound items such as moon cups and period pants. He might want to update the conversation 😆

ArcaneWireless · 05/02/2024 15:08

Likewise wilderness

I’ve just been chatting to mam about this evening’s pie.

Mam is not having one of her better days god love her. I’ve had to explain what we are having several times today. The dog is beside herself with talk of pie. She is guarding the hob.

I’m sure that it would constitute drivel. But I fear we are but amateurs in that respect…. 🥧

When have I said that?

wildernesssw · 05/02/2024 15:11

DDog would sell me without a second thought for a piece of pie. Or any other food offer. Or probably some fox s**t she could roll in and eat. She's classy like that.

Indeed but don’t mention the OW interview as that was “ years ago “!

ArcaneWireless · 05/02/2024 15:19

The glee of honking of eau de foxpoop is one I don’t quite understand.

If I spot it before her, the word ‘bath’ on repeat will sometimes deter her and she’ll swerve.

Mostly though the first I’m aware of it is when the clarty midden has four happy little paws in the air.

Equally classy.

Serenster · 05/02/2024 15:27

This is an interesting thread. I’ll remember it next time Prince Harry is in court on his phone hacking claims and posters fall over themselves to tell us how abhorrent that was. But when it happens to Charles, it’s just a good reason to mock him…

jeffgoldblum · 05/02/2024 15:37

Indeed ! @Serenster , the double standards are very perplexing.
I love talking about cheese , pies and dogs!
My dh used to work away in the forces and we've been happily married for over 26years!
However he also snores and I would happily take an axe to him when he's in the thick of it!

Double standards about phone hacking.
Deplorable/hilarious.

goodbyestranger · 05/02/2024 15:41

Serenster I'm an independent poster, no reason to morph me with others. So no double standards - I've barely ever posted about Harry. or Meghan come to that.

I prefaced my comment with a caveat about hacking but it remains an utterly ridiculous and infantile conversation with an overlay of revolting and the content is out there for anyone to judge if they wish, which I do.

Roussette · 05/02/2024 15:44

Hacking is abhorrent whoever it happens to

goodbyestranger · 05/02/2024 15:44

Could one of you find any post that I've ever posted about phone hacking? Since I haven't (I think I might have said I was glad that Harry won his recent case and that's it) you really don't have a leg to stand on here. I am me and not responsible for other people's posts, if that's ok. You don't do yourselves a service by endlessly morphing people together.

goodbyestranger · 05/02/2024 15:47

Hacking isn't good but the content of the tampon conversation is out there and colours my view of Charles. That's it.

ArcaneWireless · 05/02/2024 15:47

I should not have watched Escape to the Country today.

I just shouldn’t have.

The dog has been squeezed.
