Indifference to PoW?

FaiIureToLunch · 28/01/2024 08:51

I find it strange that there’s no real interest or concern from the public about POW being in hospital. Nobody seems to be that bothered. If you compare it to the circus if Diana had been in the same situation….. I just find it odd. I always thought she was relatively popular because we’re constantly told she is but actually…. Tumbleweed.

I know it’s her own business etc but it just feels quite odd that somebody can disappear and there is no interest in why. I don’t really know or care what’s happened or why, but the silence is really intriguing. It reminds me of when the brexit referendum happened and I had no idea that there was such strong feeling about the EU…. I had no idea that there was such apathy about the PoW until now. It’s been a real eye opener for me.

I reckon the next generation or two, the monarchy will be gone.

No the wanting to be his mistress’s tampon is just another thing to put in the mix.

He seems to have remarkably few redeeming features; just a dick.

He didn't want to be her tampon.
He was talking about if there was such a thing as reincarnation, it would just be his luck to be a tampon. It was a jokey, intimate conversation. I judge him on his public life and his actions, not a private conversation - "there but for fortune, go you or I"....

Roussette · 05/02/2024 11:24

How many think they’d be happy with the contents of one of their private conversations or texts being put out there for us to pick apart?

I wouldn't care, they're as boring as fuck! And by no means salacious!

So. Never in your life have you had an intimate conversation with a loved one which you wouldn't care to have someone share more widely? Ok.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 05/02/2024 11:29

A bit of illegally intercepted, cheesy “sexy” talk with the love of his life that demonstrates they were quite besotted about each other. Makes him sound human imo. At least he wasn’t bending her ear about carbuncles and organic veg.

He’s a dick who was an early campaigner for environmental responsibility, even when people were laughing at him. He set up a charitable trust that has helped thousands of young people. He’s interested in culture, arts, people and he’s interesting, motivated and hard working. He’s flawed like all humans.

If SM had been around in those days, imo Diana and Charles are unlikely to have ever got together. She’d now be an obscure minor aristo, he’d still be king.

I thought you meant now.

Now.. it's me and the DCs and DH and can you stop and get some milk!

I have said repeatedly till I'm blue in the face, I think the radio ham hacking was awful but I also think Charles taking up with Camilla after 5 years of marriage was really bad too.

ArcaneWireless · 05/02/2024 11:33

Sometimes with regards to dicks and redeeming features no yardstick is needed.

It is there for all to see. Plain as eggs.

Or indeed cheese. 🧀🌱

Maireas · 05/02/2024 11:38

Right, @Roussette , well I'm talking about people using this particular conversation with which to criticise, judge and berate Charles.
It's tiresome and is on here a lot.
You'd think they'd be able to find something else, really.

Mylovelygreendress · 05/02/2024 11:40

5 years into marriage ? So around the time Diana and Hewitt got together?

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 05/02/2024 11:42

I was about to say that I bet Charles makes a lovely cheese, but it might get misinterpreted as inappropriate sexy talk! Don’t want anyone to faint! 🧀

I have already said on here I know Diana had affairs, did you miss that? It was at 11.23

Whoa, lady! Easy on the cheese talk!
I don't want parents finding out that I've talked online about cheese in case they complain to the Headteacher about me......

I’m sure they consider you to be primula and proper maireas

LittleTeawithmilk1 · 05/02/2024 11:49

It’s not the conversation that bothered/interested me, it was the two people having it at all.

And if we believe Diana, Charles lost interest in her as soon Harry was born. So, if Diana had an affair first good on her. Was she supposed to remain chaste for the rest of her life while her husband obviously wanted nothing more to do with her?

Charles may have only resumed his physical relationship with Camilla after Diana started an affair but Camilla was definitely on his mind.

How many of us would tolerate our husbands/partners continuing an emotional entanglement with a woman he’s been sleeping with before our marriage?

Maireas · 05/02/2024 11:51

Not the point. I've no idea who cheated on who first or who ate all the cheese.
Judging, berating and mocking Charles on this conversation isn't right. Pick on something he's actually done or said in public.

Some delightful colleague reported me to the Head over a private conversation! Said I'd criticised his leadership. I hadn't, actually, I'd said something quite different. I was told off! Ridiculous.

Some work policies are crackers, though. Fondu notions of workplace fairness vis an vis one’s private life have been stiltoned by social media monitoring. I wouldn’t want to leave @Maireas between a Roquefort and a hard cheese place at work. My apologies. I will confine Charles’s dairy produce to my fantasy cheese box from now on. 🧀

ArcaneWireless · 05/02/2024 11:58

How unfair. ☹️

Gobshites rarely get facts right maireas.

Ah, thank you, Fromage Friends.
I think I convinced the Head, but let's say I'm keeping a wary eye on Ms H in the Geography department.
She's no Branston pickle to my cheddar wheel.

themessygarden · 05/02/2024 12:06

The truth is, that despite everything that we have learned about the RF and all the things we don't like about them and Charles and Camilla, and all the scandals of recent years, Camilla is now the Queen, and quite popular, who would have ever thought that day would come ! Charles and the RF are also still quite popular with most of the British population.

In fairness, it doesn't look too bad for them at all.

I’ll be hoping she falls on a cowpat on her next field trip.

There is no evidence whatsoever that the ‘royals’ are popular .
We are TOLD they are popular , yes , but there has never been a proper chance for the people to express their opinion

Polls are unreliable but if you ignore the figures , there is a clear decline in support reflected in each ‘poll’.

Yes there is a small core of hard line support - aging , right wing, female and based in the south east is the the demographic- but that support is aging out

More people were on the streets for the Notting Hill carnival than for the conanation .
