Indifference to PoW?

FaiIureToLunch · 28/01/2024 08:51

I find it strange that there’s no real interest or concern from the public about POW being in hospital. Nobody seems to be that bothered. If you compare it to the circus if Diana had been in the same situation….. I just find it odd. I always thought she was relatively popular because we’re constantly told she is but actually…. Tumbleweed.

I know it’s her own business etc but it just feels quite odd that somebody can disappear and there is no interest in why. I don’t really know or care what’s happened or why, but the silence is really intriguing. It reminds me of when the brexit referendum happened and I had no idea that there was such strong feeling about the EU…. I had no idea that there was such apathy about the PoW until now. It’s been a real eye opener for me.

I reckon the next generation or two, the monarchy will be gone.

For gods sake !!!
Fine you believe it to be true , why oh why are you going on and on about it?
You won't persuade anyone to change their opinion by continuing to post over and over again ! , the opposite in fact .

I think I missed most of the deleted ones and I'm quite glad I think!

I totally LOVE "accidentally ended up in the pub" 😂😅😂

I need to confess that today was not the first time this has happened . We boomers can be outrageous 🍷

jeffgoldblum · 02/02/2024 18:53

@Playingintheshadow 😉🤣

We are... out spending the kids' inheritance.... we're so selfish and entitled!!! 😃

I never understood why people visit sick people in hospital. It is boring as fuck for the visitors and hell for the patient. In this case one that's had what sounds like very uncomfortable surgery.

It's not like Kate would have needed William to bring her charger, a sack of snacks or pop down to the ubiquitous M&S for a prawn mayo meal deal.

Don't you think people are glad of some company? Particularly if they are, as Kate will have been, in a single private room?

"Boring as fuck" spending time with someone you care about/love?

That is such a bizarre attitude!

Maireas · 02/02/2024 19:08

I was once in an isolation hospital and couldn't have visitors. I was so fed up!

When I was in hospital for a fortnight my visitors were what kept me sane. I had visitors usually twice a day & I lived for them coming

They were no different to any other time I saw the people. They stopped off at the coffee shop downstairs and brought me a latte & we had our coffee & chatted.

Since they were all family & close friends it was far from 'boring as fuck'

goodbyestranger · 02/02/2024 19:11

Playingintheshadow it's intensely boring and has been since I suggested we move on, a few pages back. Unfortunately posters such as yourself keep posting comments about me or asking questions of me, and so I reply.

If you want to move on, please stop doing this.

goodbyestranger · 02/02/2024 19:14

Replying to posts as I read down.

Basically, same to you jeff: very boring, possibly do as I suggested way back and move on.

If you post about the subject, I respond. Entirely your doing not mine!

What nonsense. For some people that is the highlight of their day, having a family member, or friend visit them. Honestly.

asrarpolar · 02/02/2024 20:03

I have been in hospital too many times and the only time I did not want visitors was once when I was so ill that anything but lying inertly in bed was too much.

wildernesssw · 02/02/2024 20:24

I too, in my youth, 'accidentally ended up in the pub'.

It's a good few years now, but happy memories (the bits I remember 😂)

I did it frequently when I was a student!! Must go back to it when I retire lol!

You could always, you know, not answer?

Like I will be doing with you on the matter from here on in.

I once had some friends come round to write a shopping list (we were spending Christmas Day together, and doing the traditional Xmas lunch) and they left 12 hours later after copious amounts of alcohol!

wildernesssw · 02/02/2024 20:34

Oh, were they the poster who insisted that George was too dim for Eton, William definitely wanted him to go there and threw a wobbly because he was turned down, and the head of Eton was too principled to accept him despite William's FURY?

Maireas · 02/02/2024 20:42

Oh, is that the same poster who had insider knowledge about George's previous school, including negative remarks from the year head?
😂

goodbyestranger · 02/02/2024 20:43

Polly I'm not sure that I have ever lauded Harry and/ or Meghan on MN or elsewhere. If you can find a post - other than one where I said at least Harry has a bit of spark which the rest of the rf lack - please copy and paste. You'll struggle.

Also, let's have a little accuracy. What I said on the school thread a little while back was simply that I believe that if George hasn't passed the Eton tests then the current HT is sufficiently principled not to make an exception. I emphatically did not claim to have been told by Simon Henderson individual test results. What a totally nutcase assertion.

I'm not quite clear why if I'm sufficiently informed to talk about the current HT and the Eton tests and life there moving on, why that precludes me from knowing something about the goings on with the Turnip Toffs. It's not exactly as though the two circles are far removed.

Anyhow Polly, please do quote any posts which contradict what I've just said.

Jesus.

Perhaps I need to re-iterate: you are very welcome not to cast William as a cheat. I'm amused that there's no reciprocity though and that for some reason I'm being pressured to say that I don't believe it to be a fact, merely a rumour. That's not my position I'm afraid.

Nobody is 'pressuring' you I'm afraid.

You're just one more anonymous poster on what is essentially a royal gossip page. Your contributions are really not that serious or important I'm afraid.

Your pomposity is, however, unintentionally hilarious.
