Indifference to PoW?

1000 replies

FaiIureToLunch · 28/01/2024 08:51

I find it strange that there’s no real interest or concern from the public about POW being in hospital. Nobody seems to be that bothered. If you compare it to the circus if Diana had been in the same situation….. I just find it odd. I always thought she was relatively popular because we’re constantly told she is but actually…. Tumbleweed.

I know it’s her own business etc but it just feels quite odd that somebody can disappear and there is no interest in why. I don’t really know or care what’s happened or why, but the silence is really intriguing. It reminds me of when the brexit referendum happened and I had no idea that there was such strong feeling about the EU…. I had no idea that there was such apathy about the PoW until now. It’s been a real eye opener for me.

I reckon the next generation or two, the monarchy will be gone.

I don’t know what sort of lives you lot lead, but ‘going to the press’ because people who know about this stuff have shared it orally just isn’t on my radar.

That would be totally alien to me but it’s astonishing how heated people get by anyone raising the issue. Look at the entire family and ask who isn’t a cheat - pretty much a minority occupation to be fair.

It’s a really strange phenomenon - would it be such a surprise? Is it such a massive deal? If it is such as massive deal why put up with a couple of massive cheaters on the throne?

Honestly, if you want to believe bullshit, just believe it but probably doesn’t warrant the shrieks of toxic etc at another poster who isn’t being rude and happens to believe the evidence the other way is completely credible.

As in, try to move on….

Well you see, I am a "innocent until proven guilty" person so I don't believe it. I think all the malicious gossip is that, just a load of crap. If there was evidence, in this day and age, it would be out there!!

themessygarden · 02/02/2024 15:54

the fact that William is a cheat - well known .

Bullshit, there are no facts that are well known, to date its still in the category of 'rubbish rumours' spewed by anti royalists.

jeffgoldblum · 02/02/2024 15:55

Moving on , this topic is becoming boring and pointless now.

jeffgoldblum · 02/02/2024 16:07

Just to paraphrase for any would be lurkers !
You posted about Williams alleged affair , stating it as fact and that you have concrete proof that you can't or won't share , other posters don't agree or care ( apart from a previously banned poster) , you continue to argue with other posters and patronise and belittle them , and you are the victim, have you considered not continuing to post then?

goodbyestranger · 02/02/2024 16:13

wildernesssw · 02/02/2024 15:46

If you make claims about people who have not confirmed it e.g. about William having an affair, without providing proof, then as far as I am concerned you are no different to anyone else making self-publicising claims to know about private secrets of any other public figure.

Your saying so doesn't make it true, and public figures have the right to be innocent until proved guilty.

There are some truly disgusting accusations on SM about all sorts of public figures - I assume innocent unless there is some sort of evidence other than 'I know THE TRUTH' from some random on the internet.

Not because I am hysterical, pearl clutching, shrill etc but because if I was a public figure I hope people would not believe unsubstantiated gossip about me

wildernesssw I seriously couldn't care a button about your view of me, nor do I care if you believe William is a cheat. I mentioned it in passing and got a wild reaction.

tara66 · 02/02/2024 16:14

What Diana did was all ''new'' and ''outrageous'' for royals at that time. POW is a very different person and in a very different situation and era.

goodbyestranger · 02/02/2024 16:14

Moving on , this topic is becoming boring and pointless now

Finally jeff. I did counsel that (moving on) a good while back.

goodbyestranger · 02/02/2024 16:17

you are the victim

jeff I am not built with a victim mentality. I am certainly not a victim and the idea that one might be a victim on MN is too ridiculous for words. I merely said there was a ludicrously over the top reaction to a passing comment on William being a serial cheat. Might not have said the serial bit before tbh, can't remember.

CoffeeCantata · 02/02/2024 16:21

Goodbyestranger
nor do I care if you believe William is a cheat. I mentioned it in passing and got a wild reaction.

And can't you see how awful that sounds? You 'just mentioned' something really nasty and damaging 'in passing' and don't expect people to scrutinise this malicious rumour, or to pull you up on it?

As other pps have said, there are loads of delightful 'rumours' I've heard about H & M which I could 'just mention in passing'. But I don't because I know they're rumours, and I hate the way some people - like some here - will just swallow rumours whole, not question them or the motives of those who spread them, never consider how horrible it is to have these things said about you, especially when you can't refute them!

I think one pp even said something like 'most people believe that W has had an affair'. I bet there are a lot of things most people believe (esp with educational standards falling and the rise of social media and fake news) but it doesn't make them true, or make it OK to repeat/write them. If you do that you really are just a village gossip.

IcedPurple · 02/02/2024 16:23

goodbyestranger · 02/02/2024 15:36

wildernesssw I initially mentioned the fact that William is a cheat - well known -and then got piled on by posters insisting I specified the name of my source or the basis of my confidence in what I'm saying, which of course I won't do. I'm not going to compromise anyone. Why should I? I can think what I like, you can think differently. No problem. This is old news so I really didn't expect the wild reaction that the mere mention of cheating got. It's just bizarre.

Charles and Diana admitted affairs a long time after everyone else had known for years, in army circles at least. So the knowledge didn't come from them, merely the public confirmation.

As I said, I don't know if William has cheated and don't especially care. I hope for Kate's sake that he hasn't but I'm never going to claim to know what's going on inside a complete stranger's marriage.

However, other than vague innuendo there is no proof at all that William has in fact cheated. And vague innuendo is all you are offering here. Surely you'll understand that as far as any of us are concerned, you're just an anonymous person on the interwebs, no different to the rest of us? And no different to all those people who during the pandemic had a 'DH high up in the NHS' who had told them all of the vaccines are duds, or folks who know someone whose hairdresser knows someone who knows that William definitely cheated with some posh girl?

ArcaneWireless · 02/02/2024 16:24

Wild reaction?

Will be filing that with outrage , shrieking, pile ons, hysteria, pearl clutching and other such nonsense flung about when people rightly question unsubstantiated assertions.

jeffgoldblum · 02/02/2024 16:26

Don't forget "frothing" Arc !

Roussette · 02/02/2024 16:30

@jeffgoldblum

Your post at 16.07 is very wrong. It is not up to you to paraphrase or summarise any posters posts for 'would be lurkers' but putting your view on it
It is not your place to do that and I imagine it goes against TG.

Would be lurkers (as you call them) are quite at liberty to read what posts they want and draw their own conclusions.
If you were doing this to me I would be very pissed off.

jeffgoldblum · 02/02/2024 16:40

With all due respect @Roussette , why don't you mind your own business and stop policing what others post?
Nothing in my post broke talk guidelines and it was all completely factual!
However yours is bordering on an unprovoked personal attack!
I don't stick my beak into your posts I would ask you to butt out of mine!

Roussette · 02/02/2024 16:45

I hit a nerve quite obviously.

I will post where I want when I want thanks. There is no due respect in telling someone to 'butt out' and 'mind their own business'. 😂

Just don't summarise and put your spin on my posts for 'would be lurkers' in the future, thanks.

jeffgoldblum · 02/02/2024 16:47

No nerve except for yours!
I will also post what I want when I want without your permission!
Talk about hypocrisy!

CathyorClaire · 02/02/2024 16:47

Just caught up.

No idea if these rumours are true but I can't say I don't care because if they were ever to be proven I think it would be the final nail in the coffin for the monarchy.

That said I also think if there were anything concrete in them the foreign press would be having a field day. I don't believe this is currently the case but happy to be corrected if they are

jeffgoldblum · 02/02/2024 16:49

And your posts don't interest me enough to paraphrase them !

ArcaneWireless · 02/02/2024 16:56

Would be lurkers (as you call them) are quite at liberty to read what posts they want and draw their own conclusions.

And that, I believe, would include Jeff’s post.

People are quite at liberty to read that post and draw their own conclusions also surely?

🌱

Roussette · 02/02/2024 16:59

No. Different altogether.

ArcaneWireless · 02/02/2024 17:00

Naw. It isnae.

Maireas · 02/02/2024 17:00

ArcaneWireless · 02/02/2024 16:24

Wild reaction?

Oh god, the hyperbole! The press go into a "frenzy" about Meghan. Harry and Meghan get "annihilated" in the press. Anyone commenting on them is "frothing". It's utterly ludicrous.

Samcro · 02/02/2024 17:02

I think a certain poster want’s this thread deleted.
derailing hasn’t worked , so the only way is to get it deleted as a bun fight.

ArcaneWireless · 02/02/2024 17:07

I would hope not Samcro.

Thankfully MNHQ were on the ball earlier. I’m sure they will be responsive to any further reports should they be warranted.

jeffgoldblum · 02/02/2024 17:08

Why would rousette want this thread deleted?
