Surprised no thread yet.

Good on them for being open about it.

I was looking for a thread too, thank you for starting one. Hopefully all ok.

LastnightIDreamedofManderley · 17/01/2024 18:45

And why on earth have we been notified of this?

Thunderbird7 · 17/01/2024 18:45

And why on earth have we been notified of this?

Because he’s the head of state for 15 countries

Does that entitle them to a bit each pickled in a bottle?

HappyHamsters · 17/01/2024 18:49

Hopefully it all goes well for him and also opens up a discussion and awareness of mens health, its a miserable condition for so many men.

DB is in recovery from prostate cancer. If this opens up awareness and encourages men to get help and advice then good for HM.

ssd · 17/01/2024 18:51

Discussion is always a good thing.

No one is immune from illness.

I for one am glad they did. For the sake of raising awareness. Many men still ignore prostate health as its considered embarrassing

LastnightIDreamedofManderley · 17/01/2024 18:45

And why on earth have we been notified of this?

  1. Because it's happening and it encourages discussion of what has not always been talked about as openly as it might have been.
  2. So that very spiteful people can mock at him and some can show that they don't know a testicle from a prostate gland.
PosyPrettyToes · 17/01/2024 18:56

I’m really impressed that he’s allowed the reason to be put out there. They could so easily have left out the prostate part, and it’s an important issue.

DewinDwl · 17/01/2024 19:04

I agree @PosyPrettyToes

LakeTiticaca · 17/01/2024 19:10

Charles must have agreed to make it public. I guess its a good thing if it gets more men aware of it

FourFourOne · 17/01/2024 19:12

Thunderbird7 · 17/01/2024 18:45

Because he’s the head of state for 15 countries

What does that have to do with anything?

Raising awareness etc, fine, but that is a separate issue

Because people will notice if he's MIA and start rumours

Exactly. He's in his 70s, people have been calling him a caretaker king for William and that he won't be on the throne for very long, and if he goes into hospital the rumour mill will go into overdrive about his health and if it's more serious than anyone is letting on.

RitzD · 17/01/2024 20:30

I think they gave released this today to take some of the spotlight off Kate.

Bargello · 17/01/2024 20:31

LastnightIDreamedofManderley · 17/01/2024 18:45

And why on earth have we been notified of this?

Because it would be obvious he's off the radar for however long, or spotted going into hospital and there would be rumours and gossip. He has obviously decided that he wants to publicise what he is having treatment for to raise awareness in a "this can happen to anyone" way. And good on him for it.

GrouchyKiwi · 17/01/2024 21:38

I suspect they've released it because some journalist has been digging around and found out about this and Kate's operation.

Anyway. I am glad he's comfortable releasing that much information. It's an important health issue for so many older men.

Pinksmyfavoritecolour · 17/01/2024 21:41

It's great it's out there, raising awareness of any health issues can only do good.

Ownedbykitties · 17/01/2024 22:21

Good for him that he's speaking about it. Good man.

DontLeanOnTheKeyboard · 17/01/2024 22:27

It’s fab he’s being open and it raises awareness, but why hasn’t the PoW taken the same opportunity? Hernia? Adhesions? Fibroids? Why so different? There may well be something going on to do with having kids, no need for mystery.

unless it’s a wizard sleeve sitch.

Enlarged prostate is a very common and easy-to-deal-with issue. We don't know what was wrong with Kate, and nor should she feel compelled to release that information if she doesn't want to. It might be something fairly standard, or it might be something highly emotional and rare, or anything in between.

Sharing medical information should only ever be the patient's choice, even for high profile people who could do good by talking openly.

StuckintheRutt · 17/01/2024 22:38

Pooor Charles, wrong week to have your medical issue.... Over shadowed...

StuckintheRutt · 17/01/2024 22:38

Yy grouchy

StuckintheRutt · 17/01/2024 22:39

And she has young children.

They don't want to be teased about what is wrong with mum
