The full statement says she was treated at The London Clinic. Interesting, because that's not normally where the Royals go. I don't think they treat EDs though so those speculators can pipe down.

The London Clinic is bigger than the King Edward VII - they are just around the corner from each other. It might simply have been which one had enough space to give her privacy or where her consultant usually works.
They are pretty similar otherwise. I’ve used both of them.

Not sure why a 'planned' surgery would result in last minute cancellations in engagements. Can't have been planned for that long if they're only just cancelling things.

Planned just means not an emergency though.

Surgery decided yesterday and carried out today can be classed as planned.

I had major surgery on a Wednesday after a diagnosis Sunday night and it was classed as planned.

Now the King. What a week for them.

FrancisSeaton · 17/01/2024 15:42

StrawberryJellyBelly · 17/01/2024 15:34

@FrancisSeaton so you were forced back to work because of financial reasons And not because it’s routine for women to go back to work 2 or 3 weeks after a hysterectomy.

No I wasn't- I luckily get full sick pay. But many do- and feel well enough. I'm not confused about that at all

Iwantmyoldnameback · 17/01/2024 15:42

Not read all the comments but I'm sure she tested positive for COVID the other day.

Newchapterbeckons · 17/01/2024 15:43

My concern unless he is just being lazy - which I doubt - is why William is also taking so much time out - weeks in fact. That is a bigger worry. The rf usually carry on regardless.

FrancisSeaton · 17/01/2024 15:43

Have her and Charlie been shagging?

Purplebunnie · 17/01/2024 15:43

Cancermummy · 17/01/2024 15:18

Also I definitely don't see having major surgery as 'a break'. I'm devastated that I'm going to be missing so much time with my DD and even if I wasn't I'm still going to be in a lot of pain. Unfortunately I don't have much choice but fancy thinking two weeks in hospital is a jolly. I know i'd much rather be on holiday with my family, I'm sure Kate would as well.

I hope everything goes well for you x

Advice400 · 17/01/2024 15:44

Maybe they are being over cautious on her stay in hospital as they cannot make any wrong move with a senior member of the RF.

And also why she hasn't been seen since Christmas. Planned surgery doesn't stop you taking your children to school.

Newchapterbeckons · 17/01/2024 15:45

Odd that they announced the kings exact operation just now. Prostate - which now looks timed to deflect the news about Kate.

Up to 14 days is very long as everyone is saying, the royals come home quicker, she won’t be there longer than required as she can get such good care at home.

amd ir is clearly not planned that far in advance, as William is having to rearrange his schedule now.

This thread is unhinged. Confused

Why do you accuse poster who speculate about an eating disorder of slacking her off (but don't accuse those who guess hysterectomy etc of the same crime)? as if an ED is some kind of moral flaw. It's an illness and nothing shameful about it!

If you can’t tell the difference between alleging someone has an eating disorder and thinking she might have had a hysterectomy then I can’t help you .
So many posters on here just want a pop at the POW.

🙈

MaggieNextDoor · 17/01/2024 15:48

Whatever is wrong with her - and I would imagine it's major surgery to treat inflammatory bowel disease, whether that's Crohn's or something else - the time frame given will mean she may get privacy when being discharged from hospital after a few days, because everyone has been told she will be in for 10 - 14 days.

HappyHamsters · 17/01/2024 15:48

Charles is having an operation too, wishing them both speedy recoveries.

RuthW · 17/01/2024 15:48

WashedUpHasBeen · 17/01/2024 14:24

yes, I was thinking hysterectomy but 2 weeks is a long time to be in hospital😟

Not if you are a royal though?

Getupat8amnow · 17/01/2024 15:48

Possible stoma bag fitted, it’s quite a brutal operation and requires 10/14 days in hospital and long recovery period with lots of adjustment.

I’m fairly sure their three young children are fairly worried about their Mummy being sick and away for up to two weeks…..

Oh lord, not everything is a conspiracy! Sometimes there are just coincidences!

Don't understand this feeling with calling Camilla the queen, she's the queen consort only.

Queens consort are still queens. How often during her life did feel the need to specify that Elizabeth II was queen regnant? Can you imagine if we had all had to refer to the dowager Queen Elizabeth as Queen Consort Elizabeth the Queen Regnant Mother?
