Don't understand this feeling with calling Camilla the queen, she's the queen consort only.

What's not to understand?

The wife of HM The King is HM The Queen. Being known as Queen Camilla is exactly the same as other Queens consort - Queen Elizabeth (later QEQM), Queen Mary and Queen Alexandra to name a few.

guineverehadgreeneyes · 17/01/2024 15:29

VickyEadieofThigh : Total abdominal hysterectomy requires at least 10 days in hospital - my partner's was done within a month of diagnosis because they feared ovarian cancer.

How many years ago was that done? I doubt you'd get 10 days hospital recovery now.

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 17/01/2024 15:30

The BBC says:

The palace did not confirm further details of Catherine's treatment but said her condition does not involve cancer.

But whatever her operation was it was clearly significant.

Mylovelygreendress · 17/01/2024 15:17

What an unpleasant post . She has not “ clearly” had an eating disorder.
Depressing that some posters think it is fine to slag off the mother of 3 young children - on a parenting site.

Why do you accuse poster who speculate about an eating disorder of slacking her off (but don't accuse those who guess hysterectomy etc of the same crime)? as if an ED is some kind of moral flaw. It's an illness and nothing shameful about it!

So so so hard for some to understand though!

Mothermummymum · 17/01/2024 15:00

My opinion is that she has probably entered rehab for an eating disorder that it’s clear for the world to see she has.
No shame in rehab and no shame in wanting to cover it up if that’s your choice.

Possibly, she’s been obviously extremely underweight for a long time. Though that could also point to something physical like Crohn’s or similar which may need a bowel resection.

Vinrouge4 · 17/01/2024 15:31

ManateeFair · 17/01/2024 15:08

I have no interest in the royal family but it's fucking weird that there are people on this thread excitedly speculating over which bit of her abdomen the surgeons have been fiddling with. Are you sitting here Googling which surgeries have a 10-14 day recovery period or something, you mad ghouls? Stop being weird about some posh woman's internal organs, ffs, you sound like a bunch of stalkers.

And yet here you are, reading this thread.

ColleenDonaghy · 17/01/2024 15:31

To those speculating on her weight - perhaps they should contemplate that she may have had an underlying condition that affected her weight or ability to eat in some way, other than an ED. Abdominal surgery could cover all sorts.

Serenster · 17/01/2024 15:32

Comedycook · 17/01/2024 15:11

I doubt it was an emergency though given she's in private, it would be nhs a&e otherwise surely?

Are you quite mad? You honestly think even in an emergency they head off to the local casualty department?

Of course they do. Private hospitals are not set up, or staffed, to deal with genuine emergencies.

When Sophie (now Duchess of Edinburgh) had a placental abruption in her first pregnancy she went to Frimley Park NHS Foundation hospital for an emergency C-Section

GirlInTheMirror27 · 17/01/2024 15:32

Now the King will also be having treatment for an enlarged prostate

abbey44 · 17/01/2024 15:33

I wish her all the best for a full and speedy recovery, whatever it is. I think the Palace have built in an extra time, just in case, though. When I had to have a prolapse repair, a couple of years after I’d had my last child, I was in hospital for nearly two weeks and was recuperating for a good three months afterwards. It was all pretty straightforward (and planned) but it was an extended time for the whole thing.

queenofarles · 17/01/2024 15:33

I’d suspect if it’s something like hysterectomy the Lister would have been a better option,
or even St Mary’s.

DillDanding · 17/01/2024 15:33

I wonder why it’s necessary to announce it? Would anyone notice? She’s not exactly cutting ribbons on a daily basis.

StrawberryJellyBelly · 17/01/2024 15:34

@FrancisSeaton so you were forced back to work because of financial reasons And not because it’s routine for women to go back to work 2 or 3 weeks after a hysterectomy.

User3563573 · 17/01/2024 15:34

MaggieFS · 17/01/2024 15:20

The full statement says she was treated at The London Clinic. Interesting, because that's not normally where the Royals go. I don't think they treat EDs though so those speculators can pipe down.

I agree with this. Also think that ED speculation is highly unlikely as there's no reason for an elaborate cover story. Considering all the work they do with MH charities and with Harry & William being open about their own struggles, it would be downright bizarre to hide an ED like a shameful secret (which I don't think she has anyway).

I think the reason for the hospital could be that she's with a specific surgeon/consultant who is using their facilities for the surgery. Private hospitals are far more flexible with whom they work with, and for a patient of that calibre, any doctor can come in to use their equipment.

SOBplus · 17/01/2024 15:36

KATE AND KING CHARLES???????

edwinbear · 17/01/2024 15:37

I was in hospital for 10 days after my prolapse repair. Then bed rest for 6 weeks and it was 3-6 months before I was fully recovered.

Papyrus · 17/01/2024 15:37

I can see why they'd have to announce it. Two weeks is a long time to keep it secret that she's in hospital inevitable someone would let it slip. Presumably William and the children will visit her while she's in hospital - would be hard to keep that quiet from the Press.

MacLaine · 17/01/2024 15:37

Ahaha and now the king as well!

SOBplus · 17/01/2024 15:37

Both announced on same day having surgery ASAP? What is going on????

cathyandclaire · 17/01/2024 15:37

I thought bowel resection for something like Crohn’s. FIL had that and was in hospital for a couple of weeks. It would be exceedingly unusual to be in that long for a hysterectomy, they aim to do as many as possible laparoscopically if possible now, but even when I was training ( in the dark ages) it was 5-7 days for a total abdominal hysterectomy.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/01/2024 15:38

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 17/01/2024 14:36

If they wanted privacy they shouldn’t have announced it. No one would have noticed (or cared much) if she disappeared for two weeks.

Not necessarily; all it would take is for one person to go rogue and it would have been plastered all over the media just the same

Though I agree with the poster who said we'll probably have various "royal experts" pretending they know all about it anyway

NamingConundrum · 17/01/2024 15:39

And looks like Charles is going in too!

cathyandclaire · 17/01/2024 15:39

Maybe Kate’s been sent in to have decoy surgery to distract from Charles!!!

I am not being serious

CrispsandCheeseSandwich · 17/01/2024 15:39

alamo55 · 17/01/2024 15:26

Don't understand this feeling with calling Camilla the queen, she's the queen consort only.

That's what queen consorts are called.

The queen mother was Queen Elizabeth, before her was Queen Mary. Both of those women were queen consorts, referred to as queen.
