ManateeFair - don't be cruel. Who are you to begrudge people of some harmless fun. This is what they mean when they talk about the royals giving joy to millions.

My opinion is that she has probably entered rehab for an eating disorder that it’s clear for the world to see she has.
No shame in rehab and no shame in wanting to cover it up if that’s your choice.

agreed. Shame there is still so much stigma around EDs. I have a DD battling anorexia arm. I think it's been obvious for a while that the Duchess has serious issues around eating. She has been looking so unwell for a while. I hope she gets good care and has access to private doctors and treatment and isn't on the mercy of the NHS!

God yes, i was thinking the same! In fact when my kids were really tiny I used to fantasise about non life threatening issues that required a long stay in bed!

I remember hoping abdominal pains were appendicitis so I could stay in hospital and was gutted when it was just a stomach ulcer 🤣🤣

Ponderingwindow · 17/01/2024 15:00

It’s impossible not to speculate.

when I was out at work for a series of gynecological surgeries, I honestly just wanted to tell people what was going on so there wouldn’t be speculation. Management told me I should use euphemisms like abdominal surgery instead.

I think we have different definitions of 'impossible'.

MaggieFS · 17/01/2024 15:14

My tuppence... they have said abdominal and included a time frame because that SHOULD satisfy the vultures who feel they have a right to information because she's the future Queen.

It would be impossible to cancel a string of engagements without it raising questions.

There are tons of things it could be.

Silverbirch7 · 17/01/2024 15:15

Tummy tuck

@FlatWhiteExtraHot

I suspect a journalist has got wind and planned to break the story. It has already been noted she had not taken her kids to school since Christmas. Better to put a statement out giving a few details then asking for privacy

Has anyone thought that somehow she got pregnant at her age and then something happened? That could qualify as abdominal & could explain the absence since Christmas since she's known to have HG?

User3563573 · 17/01/2024 15:16

Doyouwantmejusttogo · 17/01/2024 15:11

I had a hernia repair and with young children at home it was a lovely break where I could nap, read a book and be bought biscuits and tea.

I was also high as a kite 🤣

This poster clearly doesn't have kids. (referring to the second quote)

Again, it's ASSUMING the reason is not sinister as implied by their statement. It could well be a tummy tuck or something voluntary that has been planned for a long time. And many here said they could also be extending the time frame due to how high profile she is. It could be a routine, non-major surgery that is only 5-7 days for normal people.

Since they aren't releasing any details, it's impossible for people not to speculate.

What an unpleasant post . She has not “ clearly” had an eating disorder.
Depressing that some posters think it is fine to slag off the mother of 3 young children - on a parenting site.

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 17/01/2024 15:17

I don’t understand the big deal about speculating. It’s human nature.

MummyJ12 · 17/01/2024 15:17

Some posters should stick to Twitter, some of these posts are utterly vile. Especially as this is about someone who is obviously seriously ill. Poor form.

Cancermummy · 17/01/2024 15:18

Also I definitely don't see having major surgery as 'a break'. I'm devastated that I'm going to be missing so much time with my DD and even if I wasn't I'm still going to be in a lot of pain. Unfortunately I don't have much choice but fancy thinking two weeks in hospital is a jolly. I know i'd much rather be on holiday with my family, I'm sure Kate would as well.

RisingSunn · 17/01/2024 15:19

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 17/01/2024 14:36

If they wanted privacy they shouldn’t have announced it. No one would have noticed (or cared much) if she disappeared for two weeks.

I agree.

MaggieFS · 17/01/2024 15:20

The full statement says she was treated at The London Clinic. Interesting, because that's not normally where the Royals go. I don't think they treat EDs though so those speculators can pipe down.

StrawberryJellyBelly · 17/01/2024 15:20

i had a huge surgery called a staging laparotomy where all of my reproductive organs were removed along with my appendix, lots of lymph nodes, my omentum and a 6kg ovarian cyst.

I was filleted like a fish and out of hospital 5 days later. It wasn’t in the UK but we did pay for a private room in a government hospital so I could have stayed as long as I wanted to but there was
no need. I felt well enough to go home.

Im very concerned about the Princess of Wales and I hope she’s back to full health very soon.

And to the poster saying women can be back at work 3 weeks after a hysterectomy. I think you’re confused.

It's when holier than thou moaners come on here pointing out they are morally superior for not speculating whilst popping onto a board about the royal family and saying they couldn't care less that makes me laugh

ememem84 · 17/01/2024 15:22

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 17/01/2024 14:34

I’m sure she’s reading here and will be very grateful 🙄

she might be. apparently she used to use mn.

wasn't there a thread earlier today from a woman who was annoyed at another patient on a ward? coincidence....?! 😂

Good luck 💐

14 days so a long time. I hope she recovers quickly. Anyone thinking it sounds like a jolly is a bit off.

I'm not confused at all. I had one myself. I was part of an online group where many people didn't get sick pay so went back to work at two weeks some sooner dependent on what the job is

I had an unexpected week in hospital once when dc we’re young and once they got the morphine levels right it was one of the best weeks of my life!

Tummy tuck

She doesn’t have a tummy to tuck. Apart
from whatever is ailing her now she’s fabulously fit and healthy.

Jitterybugs · 17/01/2024 15:25

I suppose we’ll have the media royal correspondents popping up at every opportunity on every possible programme making it up as they go along. Lots of speculation from them as they try to convince us they are in the know.

alamo55 · 17/01/2024 15:26

Don't understand this feeling with calling Camilla the queen, she's the queen consort only.

SgtJuneAckland · 17/01/2024 15:27

My aunt has endometriosis and Crohn's, she has had a couple of planned surgeries and sometimes a temporary stoma which if you're going private you might choose to stay in with. She also loses weight very easily and has to be careful about what she eats as she can become very unwell. I'm not dating that's what Catherine has, just that there are numerous examples of abdominal surgery that night cause a hospital stay, not just a hysterectomy.
