I had a whipples too, I was in for 5 weeks!

from one whipple survivor to another - high five! Brutal doesn’t even describe it. I sincerely hope the Princess hasn’t had that!

@Mothermummymum 🤣 You don’t recover from an eating disorder after two weeks in hospital!

i didn’t say I thought she would recover in 2 weeks.
A lot of people are offended about people’s opinion on her having an ED and have picked apart the fact I said it’s ’obvious to all to see’.
I know many people who have suffered with an ED and I am no way trying to be vile or jealous or nasty. I thought this was an anonymous forum to discuss our thoughts.
i stand by the fact I think she has probably gone into rehab for an ED. I wish her nothing but the best as I would anyone going into hospital for any reason at all.

I wouldn’t be surprised if she has been living with a long term condition that she has managed to keep private, such as inflammatory bowel disease. Something like ulcerative colitis or Chrons disease can cause damage to the bowel and many sufferers need bowel repair surgery later in life. It would explain why she is underweight. And it would explain the recovery time.

This came straight to my mind too

falafelover · 18/01/2024 06:25

40thbirthday · 17/01/2024 19:35

We do if we pay private. I think if you look at the fact we do have NHS for ‘free’ and can pay private that gives us a choice.

Oh dear. It's not 'free'. I pay for it from my taxes. I don't have a choice over whether I pay.

Of course, if I could choose not to pay, then I would have more money to spend on private healthcare.

how Sad for you, that on seeing a slender woman of healthy weight you assume eating disorder, it says more about your own problems than you care to admit. 💐

she’s clearly not in somewhere like the London clinic, who specialise in cancer and gynaecological care, for an ed. The palace might be many things, but announcing major surgery when it is an ed, is not going to be one of those things. Your own food and weight issues have overwhelmed your ability to think logically

and for those speculating on crohns, her intestines or bowels, basic logic tells you a woman who regularly attends events in th4 public eye for hours on end, from Wimbledon to the royal variety show, clearly isn’t suffering from violent bursts of diarrhoea, so obviously not that.

Nor is it something gynaecological that would cause heavy periods, she appears in public in white trousers, shorts or light clothes, for hours and hours, and has travel back and forward, and any woman with heavy periods knows that’s a total no go.

people are speculating wildly and loosing all logic in the process, as it is very very obviously not certain things.

Why are the papers saying that William will have to 'juggle childcare and looking after Kate'
They literally live with loads of staff to do everything when they are well , let alone ill

Because they do a lot themselves
because their mum is in hospital and they will need their dads support more
Because they are children and its natural they will be frightened

Abra1t · 18/01/2024 06:32

Incidentally and tangentially it is spelled: Crohn's disease.

MaggieFS · 18/01/2024 06:36

That DM front page screams. "Don't worry how old the photo is, find the worst one that you can".

QueenOfHertz · 18/01/2024 06:36

Kate needs longer in hospital so that she can recover in private. You’ve already seen the press mob camped outside the hospital. Kate needs to be able to walk without grimacing, stand and wave without doubling up in pain and to answer questions in a polite way with a massive smile on her face, all whilst looking immaculate otherwise she will be torn to pieces.

Yes, it’s one rule for her, one rule for the rest of us who are allowed to crawl to the hospital car park wearing jogging bottoms and last week’s T Shirt.

Agreed the comments simply reflect the posters mindset, in this instance the poster can’t fathom if you’ve staff why you’d choose to care for your own kids. They simply can’t fathom it.

and as said, same as the poster havering on about an ed, they can’t fathom a slender woman can simply be slender and exercise and eat healthy, maintain her weight , for her it means she’s a ed.

the comments have no basis in reality but simply reflect the posters mindset.

I second this. I looked like I'd gotten off of a week's horse ride after I had my son. Massive bags under my eyes ect.

Kate was able to stand up perfectly straight and wave and smile. They have to save face. I wish her well in whatever procedure she's having done.

As she hasn't been seen in public since Christmas, I wonder if they had hoped to manage whatever it is conservatively / medically, but had to resort to surgery as that didn't work.

I hope she recovers soon.

Yes I imagine so

MoneyMoneyMoneyy · 18/01/2024 07:11

TAH does not require at least 10 days in hospital. I had one for cancer and the plan was for me to be discharged after 5 days. That didn’t happen though as I had an infection post surgery. But that’s the timeline my hospital uses

The assumption she hasn’t got Crohn’s because she spends hours at public engagements is untrue. Crohn’s can be medically managed for many sufferers and allows patients, in the main, to live completely normal lives. It’s an illness that can flare up and lead to partial or complete bowel obstruction which sometimes requires a bowel resection

Frasers · 18/01/2024 07:17

Mothermummymum · 18/01/2024 07:09

So what is it then?

Um what? How the heck would I know. There are only certain things we do absolutely know.

And that’s she was clearly not suffering from violent bursts of the shits, as she’d not be able to do the things she did, for the length of time she did, so that rules out crohns, intestines and bowels, and she clearly wasn’t suffering from heavy periods, that would result in a hysterectomy at a young age, as that rules out light clothing when out for lengthy periods of time.

it is also something “planned” very, very recently. As otherwise the diaries would already be rearranged, and they only announced after the op, rather than announcing in advance she’s going in for a routine op ie gall bladder removal, like they announced for Charles . The statement also apologised for the diary reorg, so its sudden.

its something she wants to keep private, is serious, and she’s concerned about her children. But there is absolutely things that can be ruled out. Anything past that is speculation.

Well said; I thought the same. Absolutely tragic case, such a waste, poor little boy.

That case was absolutely appalling.
The toddler must have been so terrified not to have got a response from his father-
Being cold, thirsty, hungry, dirty- in the dark as well, it was reported.

it doesn't bear thinking about how awful it must have been for that innocent baby.

A dog was also at the property - the dog perhaps was able to access water from a lavatory.

What I don't understand is why the police didn't break the door down when the social worker couldn't gain entry?

''Lessons will be learned''??

They never are, though, are they?

{Or don't seem to be}.

Rest in Peace, little one.

^^ Exactly this

That’s what I meant when mentioning rehab as part of her stay.

Alternatively, many posh hospitals have private exits and entrances at the back.

After someone posted totally over the top press headlines below, it’s evident there’s no hope the press will behave decently over this, not that they were ever likely to, poor woman.

Agree with @ElizabethZott. Crohn's runs in my family and the symptoms in our case are pain, inflammation, malabsorption and weight loss. One of my relatives has had two bowel resection ops.

ElisabethZott · 18/01/2024 07:30

@Frasers see my post. Apart from flare up episodes, when the bowel can become inflamed, leading to obstruction or partial bowel obstruction, Crohn’s disease can be medically managed so people can go out and about and live perfectly normal lives
