Oh do grow up. We pay for everyone’s hospital treatment through the NHS.

The state of this thread, how is it allowed to run and run with so many hideous and unkind comments about someone’s PRIVATE medical situation? Now it’s enabling comments about why they didn’t just say it’s a hysterectomy?!?! Seriously?

Whenever someone responds to a valid political point with 'oh do grow up' I can't take them too seriously.
I couldn't care less what procedure she's having, but clearly wish her no physical harm and a safe recovery.
However, she's not getting NHS treatment- she's getting the very best private medical care funded by us. She and the family she cleverly married into are taxpayer funded spongers who do nothing useful and cost us millions and millions of pounds. When we have children dying of mould in run down accommodation, and massively underfunded health and education systems, that is not morally acceptable.

lesdeluges · 17/01/2024 19:53

I wish her well. As to speculation, that's inevitable, people are curious and particularly WRT Royal Family members, in this case the Princess of Wales. The King doesn't matter he's not important enough for gossip, but glad he's ok.

I suspect she is home already. That's so the media hounds can sit outside for days for no reason. Decoys are visiting.

In the middle of all this is a future Queen who has had what appears to be major surgery. Now that could be anything from an appendectomy to a liver transplant. We don't and won't know. Thus we speculate.

fuckmyuteruslining · 17/01/2024 14:30

Given that the palace described the Queen's terminal cancer as periodic mobility problems I don't find their use of 'routine' here very reassuring. Apparently healthy 42 year olds don't usually need 10 days in hospital for their recovery for minor issues. It maybe elective but it's not minor.

Did the Queen have cancer? I completely missed that.

autumnisthebestseason · 17/01/2024 19:56

I knew there would be a thread speculating about this.

My cousin just had very major abdominal surgery with weeks of recovery and was out of hospital in four days. My father had the most major abdominal surgery you can have and was out in a week. So what on earth lands you in hospital for 10-14 days, I have to admit being curious. Usually they want you out as fast as possible due to the risk of hospital acquired infections.

Moonbudfha · 17/01/2024 19:57

They are royal and are treated well health wise I had hysterectomy on a Saturday Monday morning discharged way too soon but there again its not private but NHS you definitely need more than 2 days I got she will be fine she's got the best care

Newchapterbeckons · 17/01/2024 19:58

The very fact they haven’t been more open about the reason guarantees this response. I am sure they would have known this, and that’s why we know it’s serious. Why else would they omit any details only fuelling speculation.

versacesafetpindress · 17/01/2024 19:58

That doesn’t make sense - they have both had to cancel weeks/ months of engagements. It wasn’t pre planned

I don't get this either- if it was planned surgery, why is she having to cancel loads of appointments? Surely you wouldnt make them in the first place if it was planned?

Moonbudfha · 17/01/2024 20:00

Hi I agree same happened to me I was only 40 and in and out withing a day which is disgusting royals receive the best treatment full stop

topnoddy · 17/01/2024 20:01

upwardsonwards · 17/01/2024 14:24

Wow 10-14 days in hospital. That sounds serious. I hope she is ok.

It's not the NHS is it !

Expensive exclusive private hospital

All being paid for by the UK tax payers no doubt

Clearinguptheclutter · 17/01/2024 20:01

I think “planned” can legitimately mean arranged on Monday to happen Tuesday. Hence cancelled engagements
it just means that she wasn’t just rushed in and operated on on the spot

Because in this instance ‘planned’ just doesn’t mean she was rushed in to hospital in an emergency. Planned could be it was decided the day before. And judging by the appointments she had in for the next few months this was the case.

I agree. I have had a tummy tuck which involved cutting right across my abdomen - had it privately, was out of hospital within 48 hours. I also had one ovary and both fallopian tubes removed years later and was out of hospital (again private) after 24 hours. 10-14 days seems like a VERY long time for an otherwise healthy 42 year old

Sure, because the press wouldn't have speculated or started digging if they'd cleared the diary in advance.

10-14 days is the guideline for several open abdominal surgeries.

If the NHS is so amazing, that's where the royals should be treated though. If it's not good enough for them, then the rest of us deserve better too. We pay for it, it's not "free".

It’s been rumoured (palace never confirmed or denied) bur def not confirmed
I mean at her age it’s quite likely there were a lot of factors involved, hence the main reason for dying was down as “old age”

They didn’t say how far in advance it was planned, could have been two days. What they are saying is it was not she was rushed in for emergency surgery, but clearly it was planned very quickly.

but to be honest, as they are both cancelling arrangements now, and they aren’t known for honesty, ie the queen. Then, I’d have to assume this was pretty much emergency surgery. So it’s not a hysterectomy, and as she’s known to leave hospital as soon as she can, Ie after the babies, then it’s likely this was very serious, but that doesn’t mean she won’t be absolutely fine.

versacesafetpindress · 17/01/2024 20:04

but clearly it was planned very quickly Yes, I think you're right- probably not an emergency procedure but clearly planned very quickly

equinoxprocess · 17/01/2024 20:04

Open surgery for bowel resection plus/minus stoma has a guide inpatient time of up to 10-14 days with 3 month recovery.

I'm sure plenty of other procedures do too.

What? You have no idea what operation she's had.

lesdeluges · 17/01/2024 20:06

Speculation fills a vacuum, and curiosity is normal about such people. Speculate away I say, and although it might sound very cold of me, it helps pass the time in a very long January.

There isn't or shouldn't be a person on the planet who doesn't wish her well though.

Yes they do, not sure why folks seem to be focusing on a stoma . Utterly ridiculous.

Well no, they take their money from the duchy of Cornwall. Do keep up.

MaryActsLikeSheDontCare · 17/01/2024 20:09

There’s really no point in speculating. It could be any number of things.

It does sound very serious, and I got the impression from the statement that they do intend to issue further statements

lol, what happened to you then, because no one knows what’s happened to Kate. Does any part of you think what’s happened to her might be different?

GettingStuffed · 17/01/2024 20:10

I suspect she's in a private hospital so she's not goingto be cicked outadap
