@TripleDaisySummer that is good. The media will know what the issue is, they tend to even if they are not allowed to say.

LindorDoubleChoc · 17/01/2024 17:09

What is there to say except for gossipy speculation about her condition?

Hopefully she recovers well and will be home with her children soon.

EddieHoweBlackandWhiteArmy · 17/01/2024 17:09

The long stay could just be protocol for private hospitals. No one is staying in an NHS hospital for 14 days unless you’re dying, even then they will need you out asap.

Saschka · 17/01/2024 17:09

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 17/01/2024 14:36

If they wanted privacy they shouldn’t have announced it. No one would have noticed (or cared much) if she disappeared for two weeks.

Oh come on, the press have obviously got hold of it and KP have had to put a statement out. If they had just said “no comment” the tabloids would have gone nuts with speculation.

Radio 4 just said BBC understood it was serious but not cancer.

The palace has specifically said it isn't cancer.

Jenasaurus · 17/01/2024 17:09

FrancisSeaton · 17/01/2024 17:05

That's such bull

Thats interesting. I had a 4 hour operation for a brown leg they kept me in for 2 weeks as I had a bad reaction to the anesthetic bi was off work for 12 weeks so I should have been off for 16 weeks then

RedRosesPinkLilies · 17/01/2024 17:10

It’s clearly major surgery, and worrying. I think there may be more to it than hysterectomy. I’ve had surgery for ovarian cancer, and the laparotomy surgery that some people have for that cancer is a huge operation.
I really hope that she’s ok. I’m not being any kind of sycophant - she’s a mother to young children. No matter how privileged you are that’s all you’d be worrying about just now.

TrickyD · 17/01/2024 17:10

TrickyD
Our GP’s rule of thumb was that you need a week off work for every 15 minutes that you have been anaesthetised. On his calculation POW must have had a long operation to take her ‘time off’ to Easter.

That's such bull.

It suited me nicely.

The Royals tend to stay for less time in hospital than other private patients as they can get 1-1 medical care at home.

Meredusoleil · 17/01/2024 17:11

NRTFT but rather than hysterectomy, I was thinking tubal litigation ie sterilisation?

FrancisSeaton · 17/01/2024 17:12

@Jenasaurus sorry but is the recovery longer for a brown leg than a white one 🙈

PyongyangKipperbang · 17/01/2024 17:12

Hospital stays can be short or long despite being, on paper, for the same op. I was in for 7 days after my appendectomy as it was in a right old mess and I got peritonitis. My father was in and out in 24 hours as his was caught a lot sooner.

Plus, they will build in a "buffer" so if she is better sooner, they can get her home without fuss and if she is in for the full 2 weeks then no one will be surprised.

Whatever it is, she will be getting the best care possible so thats all that matters. I am sure an announcement will be made at some point so speculation is useless, and if there isnt an announcement then that means she wants people to mind their own business!

Two weeks in hospital for sterilisation?

The palace has specifically said it isn't cancer.

Well I literally just heard what I wrote as I was reading quoted posters worry that it could be - I assume it come from the palace but I didn't hear that stated.

Oh no. Just spotted my error 😂

Lizzieregina · 17/01/2024 17:13

Wow at the week for every 15 minutes of GA!

DH had surgery in August, under GA for 5 hours, overnight in hospital and back at work 12 days post surgery. He should just be going back to work!

Ramalangadingdong · 17/01/2024 17:13

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 17/01/2024 14:34

I’m sure she’s reading here and will be very grateful 🙄

She might be reading. She!might even be a member for all we know. She might have made several posts to aibu to complain about her mil.

Nothing wrong with sending good wishes.

FrancisSeaton · 17/01/2024 17:13

@Jenasaurus it really made me smile

Meredusoleil · 17/01/2024 17:14

FrancisSeaton · 17/01/2024 17:12

Two weeks in hospital for sterilisation?

Let's put it this way, if I could have stayed in hospital for 2 weeks after my sterilisation, I probably would have! Was out of action for about that length of time, no joke 😐

Uricon2 · 17/01/2024 17:14

Well, it means Charles and his enlarged prostate are further under the radar!

Get well wishes for them both.

I'm revolted by some of the vicious, disgusting and hateful comments on this thread.

Yet here you are, reading it.

alltootired · 17/01/2024 17:14

I just wondered what the medical condition was called brown leg.

CrispsandCheeseSandwich · 17/01/2024 17:14

3luckystars · 17/01/2024 16:30

Well I’d ask for the 14 days of I had a choice.

She might just be getting a hernia operation and needs to be monitored there.

She can’t be going over and back to get her wound checked as the press would be following her every day.
I’m an optimist.

Well I’d ask for the 14 days of I had a choice.

Would you? Even if you had the space and resources to set up a very comfortable room in your house (downstairs if needed), and have round the clock care and support if necessary. I'd much rather go home if that was the case!

Lizzieregina · 17/01/2024 17:15

FrancisSeaton · 17/01/2024 17:12

@Jenasaurus sorry but is the recovery longer for a brown leg than a white one 🙈

I was just going to google what kind of ailment “brown leg” was. Thought it was some English thing that we have a different name for in the US 😂🤣

alltootired · 17/01/2024 17:16

@3luckystars Most people would want to go home as soon as possible, especially if you have young children. The Royals get 1-1 medical care if needed after coming out of hospital.
