@FrancisSeaton I would have been home sooner but had some complications. So I'd be amazed if she is being kept in 10-14 days just for a hysterectomy.

Maybe if bed capacity isn't an issue they would allow it but even private facilities are meant to give medical care in the patients best interest and staying in that long isn't really unless it's a pretty major op

I hope she recovers speedily and that the ghouls don’t start to creepily debate on what’s wrong with her.

Too late..

Poor thing. Not nice esp with young kids. Must be hard as she just wants her privacy. Hopefully it's nothing too serious and she is just not getting the standard booting out ASAP in the name of "circulation". The pain, I can't walk - get out of bed and get on home, stops the dvts... 🤣

Oh yes get up and move you will have muscle wasting the nurse in charge will tell you after three hours of not moving lol

bessytedsy · 17/01/2024 16:44

What a ridiculous headline - 'William left juggling three children.' Yeah right.

the thing is people buy into this crap

LulooLemon · 17/01/2024 16:44

She'll probably be out a lot sooner. That will look better than going in for a three day stay and actually staying a week.

WoollyRosebud · 17/01/2024 16:45

DeanElderberry · 17/01/2024 16:39

A heartless brute on another board has suggested she's having a facelift, since that hospital is known for them. Two weeks for the gross bruising to subside, three months to clear any facial scarring.

Clearly she doesn't need any cosmetic procedure, but I'd sooner it was that than any catastrophic illness.

Tummy tuck maybe, she has had 3 children?

Yes they do. As if he is home alone with 3 children.

I had a total abdominal hysterectomy about 10 years ago. I was in hospital for 8 days. So 10 to 15 for a Royal doesn't sound crazy.

You were in a long time. I had a total abdominal hysterectomy over 30 years ago and was in 1 night

Strange they have never done that with any other Royal family member. Why would they treat Kate differently?

My immediate thought was Hysterectomy. 10 to 14 days is a long time to be in hospital following surgery....

maybe no if you think about it. could be a total hyst including ovaries and it does say 10 - 14 days. they always state the worst case scenario. charles is also going to be in for prostate surgery next week. wishing them both well.

KATE AND KING CHARLES???????

Must've had a punch up.

BobnLen · 17/01/2024 14:44

Hysterectomy is usually about 3 months recovery isn't it, I can't think of anything else that is, other stuff is usually 6 weeks.

I don't know anyone who took 3 months to recover.

I went back to work (3 hours commute - train, tube and walking) after 5 weeks

CarAccident · 17/01/2024 16:49

edwinbear · 17/01/2024 15:37

I was in hospital for 10 days after my prolapse repair. Then bed rest for 6 weeks and it was 3-6 months before I was fully recovered.

Mine was done privately and 1 night in hospital
Went back to work from home in 4 days and back from about 10 days as soon a the bleeding stopped (couldn't drive for 7 days)

One night? After a general anaesthetic? I couldn't even get out of bed the next day.

Charles procedure isn't a walk in the park either.

I was off work for 3 months and was told before the operation it would take that long to recuperate.

alltootired · 17/01/2024 16:51

@mydogisthebest I know one woman who took 3 months off after her hysterectomy, but she is a bit of a hypochondriac when she is well. She insisted if she did anything before 3 months there would be problems.

I had TAH 11 years ago in a private hospital aged 37.

Was out after 5 days on bed rest for about 10 days then walking around after that.

Did take me about 3 months before I was fully back to normal though.

I had a TAH over 30 years ago aged 36 in a private hospital.

I was only in 1 night. The morning after the op I got up and showered and washed my hair. The Consultant checked I could walk ok and climb stairs and then let me go home.

I told me to go for a walk every day and not to lay in bed or even sit around for hours. He said the fastest way to recover is to be active.

I went back to work after 5 weeks

CarAccident · 17/01/2024 16:53

I am sure that readers in Canada know- we read newspaper articles when on holiday in autumn 2021 about the queens bone cancer- returned home expecting the press to be full of it- no mention at all

Betsyhilton · 17/01/2024 16:54

I'm sorry, but I'm not believing some of the stories on here. There is no way a doctor would certify anyone as fit to return to work 5 days after a total abdominal hysterectomy

DancingInBigCircles · 17/01/2024 16:54

Lots of people are discharged same day after a GA.

Yes. I was fine. I got up the next morning and had a shower and washed my hair. Walked along the hospital corridor so the Consultant could see that I could walk ok.

Never needed any pain relief.

My Consultant said he didn't believe in keeping women in any longer than necessary and that, in his opinion, getting home and being active - walking every day, light housework etc led to much quicker recovery.

lol believe what you want. GPs will sign you off as fit to work if you feel fit to work. They will sign you off as unfit to work if you feel unfit to work. You've been told by many women the recovery time is nowhere near that long yet it's everyone else in the wrong?

The Palace always lie and claim any medical issues in the royal family are minor. It is why this must be serious.

FrancisSeaton · 17/01/2024 16:57

Possibly you're a little dramatic @Betsyhilton ?
