The princess's abdomen
and
The king's prostate

I wonder what AA Milne would have come up with?

Agree - one of the big coincidences is that wealthy medics like surgeons tend to take big holidays at times like skiing season, then all come back around the same time. My private consultant has just come back from 4 weeks off over Christmas and her appointments & surgeries thus week were booked back in Nov/Dec.

Yes, whenever there's a royal thread we get the tinfoil hat brigade...

Thunderbird7 · 17/01/2024 16:18

hope they both get better soon 💐

Startingagainandagain · 17/01/2024 16:18

A hysterectomy does not require a 2 week hospital stay.

I had an abdominal hysterectomy and I also had adhesions between organs due to endometriosis and I was sent home after less 2 and a half day with lots of staples holding things together...

The recovery does take much longer but the hospital stays are usually not that long unless something goes wrong during the procedure.

alltootired · 17/01/2024 16:18

The tinfoil hat brigade? You mean the people who said elizabeth and philip were both more ill than the palace said?

No. I mean the people who think that absolutely everything is a conspiracy.

Anisette · 17/01/2024 16:19

If Charles has to have a general anaesthetic for his surgery, does William get to be regent in case a royal signature is needed urgently for any purpose?

VickyEadieofThigh · 17/01/2024 14:58

Total abdominal hysterectomy requires at least 10 days in hospital - my partner's was done within a month of diagnosis because they feared ovarian cancer.

Definitely doesn't. I had a total abdominal hysterectomy over 30 years ago and was in hospital 1 night (private hospital).

She is part of the RF so she probably gets to stay longer
Looks as though she is having hysterectomy to me

No the posters who think all these stories are to divert attention away from Andrew!

alltootired · 17/01/2024 16:22

Camilla who is much older than Kate, was in hospital for 4 days for her hysterectomy. Why would a much younger Royal be in for longer?
Its not a hysterectomy.

Maireas · 17/01/2024 16:23

That was for Jeff!

Violahastings · 17/01/2024 16:24

How come it’s a vague ‘abdominal surgery’ for Kate yet we’ve all been given the pleasure of knowing about KCs ‘enlarged prostate’?? 🤢

Surprised no one has suggested that this is another attempt to deflect from Andrew.

Well you just have.

Startingagainandagain · 17/01/2024 16:26

@Lampzade

''She is part of the RF so she probably gets to stay longer

I was in a private hospital.

With a hysterectomy there is no need to stay longer. It is better to recover at home once you are able to walk around and the doctors are satisfied that everything is well.

I can't imagine it would be difficult for her to have the best care at home around the clock.

@alltootired

Exactly.

If they really want to play a curveball, get Andrew admitted for surgery too.

Doseofreality · 17/01/2024 16:27

Newchapterbeckons · 17/01/2024 15:43

My concern unless he is just being lazy - which I doubt - is why William is also taking so much time out - weeks in fact. That is a bigger worry. The rf usually carry on regardless.

He’s just got a solid two weeks of unexpected free shagging mistresses time. He’ll need tile to recover from the exhaustion.

JSMill · 17/01/2024 16:27

My MIL had an abdominal hysterectomy and stayed in a private hospital, of which her brother was a shareholder and on the board of directors, ie she got treated like a VIP. Even then, she only stayed four nights.
What's more concerning than the hospital stay is the fairly long recovery time. I sincerely hope all is ok. She's a mum with three young kids.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 17/01/2024 16:28

Greengreenpastures · 17/01/2024 16:08

It's hardly surprising as she is famous worldwide and her husband is heir to the throne.

As an example of public interest you also opened this thread and responded.

'Public interest' doesn't mean what you think it means, FFS. It's short for 'in the public interest' not 'I'm a nosy member of the public with a prurient imagination so I'm interested.'

Its not a hysterectomy.

Not all hysterectomies are the same. Laparoscopic or open, ovaries taken or left, cervix left or taken. Then there is why it is being done. I was in for six days, the three women who had the op the same day as me were still in when I was discharged.

I was told to take 2 months off work and see my GP if I needed longer.

No idea what she's had done, a hysterectomy isn't impossible but she is entitled to some privacy.

@KarenNotAKaren HG again?

Might be ectopic pregnancy.

3luckystars · 17/01/2024 16:30

Well I’d ask for the 14 days of I had a choice.

She might just be getting a hernia operation and needs to be monitored there.

She can’t be going over and back to get her wound checked as the press would be following her every day.
I’m an optimist.
