Prince and Princess of Wales also congratulated them on the birth of 'Lili'

Good points, @CoffeeCantata . I don't know why people either don't read the article, or don't understand all the context with what was happening at the time. When this occurred, a lot had gone on, a lot was going on, and M&H had poor relationships with the family.

Knowing the context makes you obsessed!!!!

Alalain · 17/01/2024 08:10

Yet now they refer to her as Lilibeth in all official communication, so much smoke and mirrors with these two.

Maireas · 17/01/2024 08:12

Indeed, @Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar . I know ! It's interesting - some people are able to discuss this whole issue rationally without resorting to personal abuse or whataboutery.

To be honest, if this was the thing that made her angrier than anything else-maybe she lacked a little perspective, no?

No.

The straw that broke the camel's back, surely. We've all been there - put up with loads of important stuff and then someone makes an ill-judged remark or you break a nail or whatever.

I guess the Queen just saw this as the most insensitive betrsyal of an intimate family matter.

Can you imagine the nastiness from the H & M camp if they hadn't?

The Queen’s beloved husband had died weeks previously . She was very elderly .
Maybe her perspective was understandable ?

Some really well-expressed posts here. But no doubt we’ll have another slew of “But Andrew”, “No one owns a name”, and my personal favourite, “Haven’t you heard of Lilibet Perumphibumf the famed author of a self-published pamphlet in Iowa?”

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 17/01/2024 09:24

I do wonder if the Queen/Palace were told the name would be "Lili" (which goes nicely with Archie, and ties in with W&K's congratulatory tweet), then blindsided when the registration of birth used "Lilibet". I wonder if Harry knew that was the intention too when he spoke to his grandmother.

Exactly !!! Why would they chose to not use her official name in their congratulations, it was either they believed her official name was Lili as a derivative of Lilibet, or they refused to play ball by referring to her as Lilibet.

H&M's original announcement is also very vague and ambiguous, announcing her as Lili in honour of the Queen, but also never mentioning her full name.

Actually i have heard of Lilibet Perumphibumf ........ now.

Grin 😆

I think (based on nothing but my own imagination) Harry rang QE and said something along the lines of; 'We'd like to name her after you and Mummy' and she said 'Oh how lovely' thinking he meant Elizabeth.

There is always an excuse for their atrocious behaviour. Put forward by the fans, It's been wearing thin for a long time. Most folk have no time for them and their shenanigans.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 17/01/2024 09:34

Lilibet Perumphibumf 😂

Thank you @MaturingCheeseball , I am stealing that name for my next cat! Just telling you now, don't have a breakdown when I announce it on SM.

ArcaneWireless · 17/01/2024 09:35

Breakdown or head explosion? 😁

WinnieTheW0rm · 17/01/2024 09:36

The late Queen didn't exactly go in for wild displays of emotion.

More plausible, to me at least, than the idea she was angry/ranting is that an unusual display of emotion could be as little as a raised eyebrow and an "oh dear, that's unfortunate"

Yes - speculation - but so are all the other posts making assumptions about her reaction

Lastly there is a significant upping the ante in selecting a very personal nickname from a person whose life's work you've denigrated ...

You really don't "get" how Harry might have felt he was carrying on her work modernizing the monarchy?

Surely if that was his aim he would have discussed all his plans fully with his grandmother. Nicking a very personal nickname used first by her beloved husband isn't modernising anything.

Samcro · 17/01/2024 09:37

its not whatabouty to question why the queen was the angriest the unnamed aide who may or may not exist had seen her.
its perfectly reasonable to question if she was less angry at having to pay millions to a trafficked girl.

Maireas · 17/01/2024 09:40

Harry attempting to modernise the monarchy? None of these plans emerged in "Spare" or any other media appearance/outlet.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 17/01/2024 09:43

Well maybe it was the angriest he had seen her up to that point since the Andrew settlement came afterwards I believe. Or maybe this aid didn't see a whole lot of her, so didn't have much context of previous interaction. Or maybe she just managed to keep her emotions in check most of the time around her staff, but no longer had her beloved Phillip around to pout out her emotions too. It really doesn't matter, does it. What matters is that, once again, her idiot grandson hurt her and her legacy deliberately. And she demonstrated her disapproval by not backing him up when he threatened the BBC - not a tabloid, but our trusted, lefty, public interest broadcaster - with libel.

Mylovelygreendress · 17/01/2024 09:43

Just popping back to say that Harry has been papped while out jogging . He has his stern face on ….

It's highly probable that in 96 years of life, and 70 as Head of State that Big Lilibet got angrier about other stuff. It's not necessarily witnessed by an aide.

Which does suggest that the RF were told it was Lili, which is a lovely name and wouldn't have invaded HM's privacy.
