The criteria for getting a ‘legend award’ is what I’m taking the piss out of.

You know, that meaningful award?

But hey ho.

Meghan can bounce if she likes 🤷🏽‍♀️

Edited

No. It was about their daughter as you well know as you quoted it

It did feel a very personal and private name to be choosing, and not a choice the Queen herself would have made. A bit of 'we're using a nickname to show how close and intimate we are with her'.

Yes, I agree with you. Flet like a ploy to show the world they were still on good terms amd close with the Queen.

Mylovelygreendress · 15/01/2024 22:04

I remember a TV personality ( can’t recall her name) who was interviewed by the police because her husband took photos of their child in the bath and whoever developed them ( a long time ago) reported them .
I am surprised anyone thinks it was acceptable for Archie to be shown in that situation.,

You could see the child's genitals that's why! You can see Archie's face.

I'm hoping that as you think a child has been exploited sexually then you've contacted the police with your concerns.

We are on the brink of WWIII and you are getting uptight about a baby’s name…

SaffronSpice · 15/01/2024 22:09

bombardelli · 15/01/2024 22:04

No one owns a name.

It is not about ownership. They could name the baby whatever they want. But if you are close to someone you don’t use a name that would upset them.

Poor kid. Lillibet Diana with all that history behind it. And the Princess title as well.
I know your parents eff you up, don't they, but most parents try not to. But along with picture of Granny Diana in the nursery that they all talk to, this kid is going to need therapy.......or will the kerching be enough?

God yeah, poor child!

The poster I quoted said the queen owned the name outright.

Eyesopenwideawake · 15/01/2024 22:10

We named our new puppy Lillibet on the 9th Sept 2022. Seemed innocuous enough.

Of course.

AboutYouTalk · 15/01/2024 22:12

As much as I liked the Queen, she didn’t own the name Lilibet, no-one does. It’s a ridiculous story and one I don’t believe.

It does make me smile whenever I see posters quite happily take info from the DM and post it as truth on one thread and then call the very same paper bottom feeding trash/not a credible source etc etc on another thread.
😁

Are you referring to OP? Because she seems to agree with the DM.

ArcaneWireless · 15/01/2024 22:13

Adorable @Eyesopenwideawake

JaneJeffer · 15/01/2024 22:14

@Roussette you are confusing a jokey comment about an imaginary future with the present day Lilibet which was in reply to Not rating poor Lili's chances twenty years on...

JaneJeffer · 15/01/2024 22:15

@Eyesopenwideawake she is beautiful

Most likely to be an antiquated curiosity surely especially with a US upbringing.

Harold hasn't cracked the doors in any meaningful sense. Why would a titled daughter fare better?

I'm going to suggest that it gave Harry many, many more opportunities in life than if he'd been born plain Harry Smith.

Don’t be ridiculous. The photos of the child years ago ( Julia Somerville’s daughter , I googled ) were private family photographs similar to ones I have of my 3 .
H and M profess to shield their DC ( which I thought was right) but then have them on their Netflix reality show . Sheer hypocrisy. It’s one thing having family photos quite another to share them with the world.

It’s just extremely distasteful and hurtful, and again the Royals sit back and say nothing about something potentially very damaging to a little girl as she’s growing up…their grandchild and niece, all while keeping Andrew in the fold. It tells you all you need to know about them and why H&M and their kids are best off out of it.

The poster I quoted said the queen owned the name outright.

Years ago when the Sunday Times Rich List first came out, the Queen was deemed richest because of the Royal Collections and Crown Estate.
She made a point of asking if she might sell them all, knowing full well that they are held under the monarch's name for future generations.
My point was that despite the wealth and trappings of her position she had few, private things to call her own. One of those was the nickname given to her because of a childhood lisp, when she couldn't pronounce Elizabeth.
It's not a matter of ownership but disrespect by someone who considers herself to be the Grace Kelly of the Windsors, adding some class that they couldn't manage themselves.

So why maintain the link with such a distasteful family ? Why call their precious daughter a controversial name ? Why insist on titles for them ?

And for all you know Harry asked his granny’s permission and she said yes. I wouldn’t believe the word of an aide trying to flog some books.

Frasers · 15/01/2024 22:21

This is everywhere, it’s even being reported in the us, and the book author must be very very sure, as Harry and Megan are trigger happy level of litigious, they even threaten to sue when they know they are wrong.

either way, the thought they did something that upset the queen so much will be hugely damaging for them, and they aren’t in a good place.

in addition, I and many other people found it crass. And can well believe she didn’t like it.

but yes, this is just more damaging publicity for them, over something that many people find both crass and believable.
