Haha I think everyone has lost someone they love.

If the RF have jumped the shark it’ll be the first time the priority order has changed.

Some have beat them to it … 🌱

Thank you . I should have thought to Google that myself. I do apologise for getting you to go to the trouble of checking for me. I will aim to do better.😄

Exactly, @EncantoSpice

It was presumptuous, to hijack a name that her most intimates called her, a private and personal nickname.

Harry seems to have zero sense of decorum, privacy or appropriate conduct. I still can't believe that a man in the line of succession to the monarch thought it was in any way appropriate to publicize his loss of virginity, his frozen "todger" or other details that decent people confine to their most intimate circles, IF they tell anyone at all.

The only thing you need to be to in the line of succession is to be born so you get what you're given.

ManonDe · 15/01/2024 20:44

Hang on- two posters said they trademarked the name?

Give me a sec....

JaneJeffer · 15/01/2024 20:44

It gives them a chance to show their incredible wit of getting their m and f muddled up though.

😂

Love that people are arguing simultaneously that it’s a beautiful tribute to a much loved grandmother but also F her she ain’t the boss of me she doesn’t own names I can call DD what I like and you can’t stop me old lady HAAA 🤟🏽

Not really. They are arguing that parents have a right to call their kid whatever they like. Whether it is a lovely tribute or a fugly nickname.
The ridiculous hyperbole about it being the ' angriest The Queen had ever been', angrier than when she found out her son had let two paedophiles have their pictures taken on Thrones in Buckingham Palace? Or that one of the richest women in the world actually said, as Head of state of a country where 150,000 children are homeless, that she had nothing but her childhood nickname? As if.

He is not just a hack . He is a film/ documentary maker .

I used that, I meant bought the website! Used the wrong word. No idea if the name itself is trademarked.

Mylovelygreendress · 15/01/2024 20:37

If they liked the name so much why not use it rather than make it clear she is to be called Lili ?

Many people call their children a different, diminutive name day to day, to be more informal. "Thomas, Tom/Tommy", "Henry/Harry", "James/Jamie/Jim", "William/Will/Willy/Bill"

Maybe they recognised that Lilibet was particularly special to the queen and while they wanted to pay that tribute to her, they knew it wouldn't be "seemly" to call her the exact name day in, day out.

aaha yes- as far as i can see various domain names were registered. Can't find a trademark itself - yet.

Domain names... I can kind of see the reasoning. Especially when they are so media-minded focused.

I am now going down yet another internet rabbit hole! Grin

You can trademark a name if it’s distinctive enough.

LolaSmiles · 15/01/2024 20:49

Nobody owns a name, but whether it's Harry and Meghan or some random stranger on Mumsnet, I think there's something a bit attention or conflict seeking for someone to take a rarely used nickname from a relative (whose family you claim you need to be free from because of toxic drama) and then use it for your child.

I'll be looking to see what's being buried though. Usually when a non-story about Harry and Meghan is published it's a distraction technique.

Justfinking · 15/01/2024 20:49

Yes I'm sure in her almost 100 years of living, this is the angriest she's ever been Hmm Who waste their time on this crap, seriously Confused

Sureaseggs44 · 15/01/2024 20:12

I am willing to bet she was not furious but definitely upset . I don’t think there is anyway she would have given permission . It was special to her and Philip .

If that was the case, you don't think she would have explained that to Harry?

LaurieStrode · 15/01/2024 20:50

“We’re estranged from our in-laws but planning on naming DD after a highly personal nickname of Nanna’s (whose life we’ve made a living hell) that only 4 people were ever close enough to use, 3 are now dead and 0 are us, oh we’ve already trademarked the name and had commemorative teacosies printed” would be a YABU

exactly, @EncantoSpice Well said.
