A turkey, absolute balls of stuffing or a right Christmas cracker? We'll let you decide. Please keep the discussion interesting, civilised and relevant - the Holiday Armadillo is lurking!

Grand that he is living.

Grand that he can fly helicopters.

I’m not quite sure how that qualifies anyone to be included in the Living Legends of Aviation Hall of Fame.

I’d be affronted to attend if just being alive and airborne is the criteria for inclusion.

Unless of course there is more to it? Surely that would have been mentioned in one of the books?

wildernesssw · 10/01/2024 19:21

It's publicity for the Living Legends of Aviation Hall of Fame - how many people have heard of it before?

So he is a living legend for them, presumably 😂because it raises their profile!

Cloud9isnowclosed · 10/01/2024 19:29

For services to private jet borrowing hire?

Serenster · 10/01/2024 19:33

If he turns up to solemnly accept the award I would almost have to admire the brass neck.

Bumping this thread because Omid Scobie - not the Sussexes’ spokesperson, remember - has just tweeted that:

Prince Harry is to be inducted into the Living Legends of Aviation hall of fame, joining other aviators who have made "significant contributions in the aerospace industry", including Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong. A ceremony will take place in Beverly Hills, CA on January 19.

“The Living Legends of Aviation hall of fame”. Really Harry? I can’t be the only person wondering what on earth would qualify him for that? Other than that he’s (a) famous and (b) can fly helicopters?

The Living Legends of Aviation awards appear to be for a kids' charity called the Kiddie Hawk Air Academy

kiddie-hawk-air-academy

The Kiddie Hawk Air Academy is a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to introducing, educating, and sparking children’s interest in aviation.  The Kiddie Hawk Trainers give children ages 4-9 a sense of flight, albeit only a few feet off the...

What next though?

An award from Lizzie Arden for using 8 hour cream?

Limited edition tubes with PH’s application recommendations?

Mon now.

Oh yes - he is sure to win the award for Services to Todgers!

QueenOfHertz · 10/01/2024 19:56

It’s embarrassing.

Goodness.

I can only conclude Harold made it to the moon alongside these legendary names flying Mushroomair.

Lunde · 10/01/2024 21:08

Is this one of those US charities that give you an award if you make a big enough donation?

Mushroomair 🤣

A repeated occasion of frostbite due to higher altitudes has taken its toll.

No amount of cream or rubbing is going to help that.

I think it is fair to assume it's a pay to play award, @Lunde .

The Sandhurst omission I think must have hurt, but since the Harry is on record (his own recording, idiot that he is) calling a fellow cadet a P*; claiming in Spare that they taught him to view the enemy as "less than human"; and all that weird stuff about using a Typhoon to target his father's car, I guess he wrote himself out of it. Idiot. Not sure why some kids' charity thinks he's a good role model.

OP posts:
EdithWeston · 10/01/2024 21:40

I don't really think his main claims to fame are his services to aviation.

There's no reason to think he was anything other than competent, but he wasn't doing anything exceptionally valorous or innovative

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 10/01/2024 21:44

I wonder whether he'd even be licensed to fly in the US with his confessions of drug use. One more reason why a kids' charity should not be holding him up as a role model.

Omid is really testing my pelvic floor this evening😳😉

I think you may be confusing that with Charles and his bags of cash for titles and citizenship😂

EdithWeston · 10/01/2024 22:15

Harry doesn't seem to be on the Wiki page of Sandhurst graduates either
I looked under W for Wales (his surname when in the military) and Windsor, S for Sussex and M for Mountbatten-Windsor and didn't spot him.
