A turkey, absolute balls of stuffing or a right Christmas cracker? We'll let you decide. Please keep the discussion interesting, civilised and relevant - the Holiday Armadillo is lurking!

Sorry i dont understand. What does this mean?

Maireas · 30/12/2023 16:02

@Rockybooboo - Princess Anne has been a straight talker, for as long as she's in the public eye - about 55 years. She's not one for word salad so if she pays a compliment, it's genuine. Likewise small children greeting Grandpa. They're unlikely to be acting. You may think they're in a giant conspiracy, but they did seem to be a caring and affectionate family.

pilates · 30/12/2023 16:24

I agree at Maireas the greeting of KC with the grandchildren looked perfectly natural and lovely

Maybe Meghan gave them a few pointers

I managed to watch some Xmas tv today, and saw the Charles III Coronation programme. Wasn't it lovely to have so many of the people who made it happen and took part acknowledged. What an incredibly skilful group of craftswomen and men doing things you never think need doing - like changing the size of the crowns! Have to say, I wouldn't want to be the one taking a hacksaw to one of those! I was on a Buckingham Palace tour in the Summer, and they had the beautiful Coronation screening, thrones and C&C's robes on display. Camilla's dress and robe were exquisite, and so lovely to see all the personal touches on them, including her little dogs.

Harry may get some more inheritance this year I think when he turns 40 (from Queen Mother I think?). But as Princess Anne is the trustee/executor there may be some strings attached.

They are clearly trying to live the luxurious, billionaire lifestyle - but I wonder how they are funding that?

There is something very strange going on in their Archewell foundation. I've never been too clear about what it's actually for/does. But only 2 main donors of $1 million each plus around $900 in public donations makes it seem more like a tax dodge or scam. It is also very dodgy that a foundation that at the end of 2022 had $10 million in donation capital only got $4,000 in annual interest. Do Harry and Meghan borrow the money for other things?

Maireas · 30/12/2023 17:58

It's certainly very strange, @Lunde .

Chouxpastryishard · 30/12/2023 18:43

Agree that it all seems quite dodgy

Jilly’s been made a Dame for being Old mates with Camilla. Nice.

A P-B was the inspiration for R C-B

So it seems quite apt really

Yes - she said so in an interview

He's a mix of A P-B, the Duke of Beaufort and the Earl of Suffolk

wildernesssw · 30/12/2023 19:30

She's sold a lot of books, perhaps more worthy of recognition than donating millions to the Tories 🤔

She's also given very generously of her time and money to various different charities. (not all horse related!)

I can’t see why the children would be particularly bothered about stuffy, rainy Britain when they can be international socialite-royals, jetting between New York and Monaco, doing a bit of philanthropy-lite in between the parties.

I think this is how they will end up too. What are they going to do in the UK that they cant do bigger and better in the US? It has a huge socialite market. And is the US terrible for the Super rich? I suspect Internationsl schools etc in California as as good if not better than anywhere and it's easier to be able to buy your way into Harvard or other Ivy League unis too. I dont think Harry will come back divorce or no divorce. He will not be welcomed by his brother or sil. And they will be the ones with their hands on the cash. His only family are his wife and children. What's he going to do in the UK?

Did you watch the documentary? First you want it to include protests against the monarchy, now you think it’s all acting. It was a sort of fly on the wall type of thing. There was no “acting”. It was not an investigation. It was showing what happened in the preparation for the Coronation. There were a few comments from people who were there on their experiences . It showed skilled craftspeople doing their jobs. It showed people forgetting what they were supposed to say. It was light and pleasant to watch. Just what you want at Christmas

It's so funny someone saying that the RF are actors when the reality is Meghan with her teary eyes swallowing and saying " thank you for asking how I am" 😂
