compared to the top one which racks up 812 million. It comes in after Dahmer the Monster (63,500,000) and Peppa Pig Season 2 ( 63,700,000) around the 210th position.

"Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's unprecedented six-part documentary series on their exit from royal life was watched for a combined 62 million hours.
To help put the figures in context, 60 million hours viewed is the equivalent of 1 million people watching a one-hour episode once."

I watched a new realease on Netflix last night. A movie with Julia Roberts and Mahershala Ali. Watching the credits roll, I realised it was executive produced by Barak and Michelle Obama. I was surprised they didn’t advertise that. (Or maybe they did and i just missed that bit.)

Its worth a watch if you like end of the world movies.

There's a whole discussion thread about it on the movie forum.

Well of course. Not quite sure why you’re saying the obvious.

Am I? I know I love a good serial killer production but it's not to everyone's taste surely.

How can 1 million people watching an hour each add up to 62 million hours? Was each of the six parts 60 hrs long?

😂

Maybe some things don't need to be advertised as such. The Obamas don't need to seek recognition perhaps and are happy to let things stand on their own as it were . They work quietly behind the scenes.

Not Meghan and Harry as individuals.

You can't say why people are interested, how would you know? I am interested in them as individuals, so is my family, there are similarities in their lives to mine and also because they left a privileged position I was interested in that too.

ALittleTeawithmilk · 14/12/2023 09:27

I’m not sure what you mean by ‘work quietly behind the scenes’ OP - I follow them on Twitter, I’ve seen Michelle interviewed by Oprah this year, I’ve read her book Becoming and will read her second one, and Barak has a documentary on Netflix which I haven’t watched yet but will, eventually.

Janiie · 14/12/2023 09:37

EdgarsTale · 13/12/2023 11:41

Well, who wants to watch two rich, privileged people whinging non stop? They massively misjudged how the public would respond to their ‘revelations.’

Exactly this. It's no great surprise is it. H overdid it on the pity parties sadly. I hope he has something fresh to offer Netflix.
I think a cap in hand/tail between one's legs reunion with Pa might be a good one.

Edited

If you follow them on Twitter then of course you will know what they are up to. They are not however splashed all over the papers.

Both couples seek publicity for their causes and projects. But the Obamas are not ‘splashed’ all over the tabloids, you are right. But they would be if they sold newspapers and brought the advertising clicks like Harry and Meghan do. And that happens because lots of people want to read about Harry and Meghan. Even when the stories are manufactured. The tabloids ‘splash’ Harry and Meghan stories . This is not a choice of H&M. They don’t make the papers do this.

Btw. I don’t only get my news re the Obamas from Twitter. It comes through Netflix, newspaper articles about their books etc. interviews and so on.

I wrote it in another thread too but Netflix have really done the dirty on Harry in The Crown season 6… he can’t have left a positive lasting impression on them 😱😂

rosyglowcondition · 14/12/2023 17:46

I think Harry has led the way in busting other people's privacy so it's not surprising people are now busting his privacy wide open. 20 years ago a teen Harry literally throwing young girls into a swimming pool.

Roussette · 14/12/2023 17:47

Never watched The Crown, not interested in it, so no idea!

I know it's not a popular view on MN, but a lot of people feel sorry for H&M and think C&W are bullies.

Mumsnut · 14/12/2023 20:44

The Suits figures were amazinly high apparently, for a re-run only brought back for a portion of the period covered.

Was just coming on to post this
I’m shocked at how bad they have made him look - surely he can’t stick with Netflix after this - it’s an excruciating portrayal
He must be fuming !!!

I even had a prickle of sympathy for him ( soon wore off )

Do you have a source for this?

I wanted to throw things at the screen whenever he was on!

They did sort of throw a biscuit to the Sussex fanatics with a “how hard it is being born second” plotline - but it made him seem even MORE entitled and self-absorbed

Josette77 · 14/12/2023 21:01

Suits is a good show. Meghan wasn't the lead, so I don't think it's success is relevant to her. She was fine in it, but certainly not the reason to watch. I'm in Toronto and watched it when it first came out.

Gabriel and Sarah were amazing and fun to watch. It was very cleverly written and I will say wardrobe did a great job with Meghan and her body type. She looks fabulous on that show!

I only watched a bit of episode one on the documentary. For me I just don't think they are that interesting.

A train wreck yes, but other than that not captivating. I think they played all their cards too soon.

I used to follow her blog and liked it. I think if she'd kept with interior design and casual clothing and book recommendations she would do well.

Unfortunately at this point I don't think any one is willing to work with them, and no one is really interested. They are simply cringe now.

Selling the Sussex brand is no longer desirable.

It was during the Hollywood strikes, so there was a bit of a dearth of new material.

And a good choice by Netflix (who advertised it quite heavily at exactly that time) as people who hadn't seen it before, but had now heard of MM, were ready to give it a go

WinnieTheW0rm · 14/12/2023 22:09

I really don't want to think about Harry and a (frozen?) little prickle in the same sentence

Vespanest · 15/12/2023 00:13

Netflix certainly did Harry dirty on the crown portrayal, he reminds me of the sherminator in American Pie. Actually felt sorry for Harry
