Netflix 6 month viewing figures released and Harry and Meghan documentary places at 62million viewing hours

compared to the top one which racks up 812 million. It comes in after Dahmer the Monster (63,500,000) and Peppa Pig Season 2 ( 63,700,000) around the 210th position.

"Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's unprecedented six-part documentary series on their exit from royal life was watched for a combined 62 million hours.
To help put the figures in context, 60 million hours viewed is the equivalent of 1 million people watching a one-hour episode once."

Why do you make things up? No idea. It's weird.

In SIX Omid threads, I have posted at the most twice. So that's nearly six thousand posts, with me supporting a poster once with a post. . So no, you are incorrect. There are plenty of RF threads I avoid like the plague.

Okaaaay !

Roussette · 13/12/2023 12:17

Glad you've noted that, thank you.
The poster was talking about media choices and seeking out stories and posting on people you dislike a lot.

It's easily done! There are a couple of famous people I am really not keen on. I avoid all media about them, if something pops up on a feed I immediately click away, there have been threads on MN and I swerve because I do not want to fill my head with negative dislike.

rosyglowcondition · 13/12/2023 12:24

@themessygarden On the app you can click on the the little funnel icon (top right) and see who's posted the most as I think it goes in number order. If you pay you can see the exact number but I don't pay. Just in case you're interested.

CallmeSand · 13/12/2023 12:29

I also thought it was relevant as you see on here all the time about their highly successful documentary and now we have the numbers as this is a new thing Netflix are doing.

The actual list is there for download if anyone is interested but it comes out in an unwieldy format on my Mac.

I think the point is that no new people are interested in watching a documentary that has been so roundly criticised, debated and debunked. Plenty of people didn't watch it first time round but listened to the various topics being discussed and decided (like me) not to waste 6 hours of their life.

I'm sure that is a factor but equally a factor I think would be that so much was reported in the media about it that many probably didn't see the need to actually watch it. Plus if, as someone said upthread, you watched it in December it wouldn't be included in the January figures. It can't have been a ratings failure or they wouldn't still be working together.

(I haven't watched it so can't comment on the content directly and whether the media reported accurately or not.)

What is upcoming with the Sussexes and Netflix @MrsLeonFarrell ?

themessygarden · 13/12/2023 13:18

If you look at the top few series, you can see there are a few which were released in 2022, so I wonder if that is the cumulative viewing figures to date for that series, or is it just the 6 month period.

Wednesday Season 1, shows a release date of November 2022 and had 500 million views, would that have only been in the first half of 2023 ? As everything with Netflix, it is still a grey area.

@MrsLeonFarrell the Netflix contract is set to run until 2025. It's after that it may or may not be renewed.

Nothing as far as I know. My point isn't that they have lots in the pipeline, it's that if they haven't been dropped from the contract early the documentary at least must have had satisfactory viewing figures.

This doesn't mean I think doing the documentary was a great move and I can't comment on the content; but I don't think that these figures indicate the failure people want them to.

skullbabe · 13/12/2023 14:25

I think overall, a success, and a good showing overall. It would be interesting to see a comparitor between the H&M output and other Netflix content like Tiger King or Don’t F**k with Cats for a multi episode documentary series - to get a real sense of their position in the documentary space but I suspect the latter 2 were real lockdown hits.

skullbabe · 13/12/2023 14:35

Oh - I didn’t fully realise what the purpose this thread was about before I posted. Nevermind. I just want to piggy back off a poster who wonders why these people occupy so much head space in people who don’t like them.

Not really, when they avoid the 6 threads about Omid and his book!

CallmeSand · 13/12/2023 17:29

themessygarden · 13/12/2023 11:45

Why? and how do you know it's a 'first post'? Did you go checking?

Posters change user names whenever they want, it's within the rules.

I thought advance searching and mentioning a posters posting history or number of posts was not within the rules. (although I could be wrong on that).

BTW it is an interesting post for a lot of us.

What? I was a first time poster and this is my first post? Why was this even discussed?

It's not really the same. If you live in the UK, these people rule over you whether you like it not. I am Charlie boy's subject so I'm entitled to have a say. I'd prefer to say it to his face.

I'm amazed they're that high. I managed about 15 minutes without throwing something at the TV.

They're as deluded as one another is the kindest thing I can think of to say.

Roussette · 13/12/2023 17:48

im sure you’re following rishi sunak and his entire cabinet just as religiously - you know - the people that actually are ruling over us

I certainly am. I've been on a politics thread for years

So where do you think people who want to criticise the Royal family, what topic do you think we should discuss it under? It's the Royal family topic, not the Royal Fan club

He is the of State of my home country. He may not make laws but he's incredibly powerful. He has the power to exempt himself from laws, has influenced the honours list, meets Head of state and has influence over the press.

Yes I follow politics.

Totally agree. No idea where we should be posting about the RF if not on the RF board! As you say it's called The Royal Family. Not ... The Royalist Board.

Don't be driven off @Rockybooboo, we have just as much right to be here as those that think the RF can do no wrong
Maybe I should go to the tack room instead... the Rf love horses after all... Xmas Grin
