Netflix 6 month viewing figures released and Harry and Meghan documentary places at 62million viewing hours

compared to the top one which racks up 812 million. It comes in after Dahmer the Monster (63,500,000) and Peppa Pig Season 2 ( 63,700,000) around the 210th position.

"Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's unprecedented six-part documentary series on their exit from royal life was watched for a combined 62 million hours.
To help put the figures in context, 60 million hours viewed is the equivalent of 1 million people watching a one-hour episode once."

Sorry Turtle. I will try and address your repeated post but not sure what it means to be honest

I have strong feelings about the Institution (that is quite different to not liking the people, I don't know them so can't dislike them and we're stuck with them) I don't hate H&M.
So it's mixed isn't it

I think a 'whiney documentary' sums it up 😂

So where do you think people who are critical of the Royal family shoul post?

cauliflowerwaterfall · 13/12/2023 19:22

I think those are the best figures they could’ve hoped for, for what it was. Largeish but specific target audience who were reliably going to watch it the second it came out but aren’t going to watch it twice. What’s more worrying for Meghan and Harry is that they’ve probably hit their peak unless they branch out from boring AF “documentaries” about themselves.

I’d like to know the answer to this one too please.

Agreed - these are reasonable numbers for the genre and the target. It’s hard on the list to compare like for like as there isn’t a reasonable comparator on the list but I must admit I skimmed up to the H&M and didn’t readily identify a similar product. On balance - it’s done well. I agree we will need to see what happens with their new projects.

JADS · 13/12/2023 21:24

I think the best comparator would be the Beckham documentary, but as the figures only go up to June, we can't compare.

Roussette · 13/12/2023 12:17

Glad you've noted that, thank you.
The poster was talking about media choices and seeking out stories and posting on people you dislike a lot.

It's easily done! There are a couple of famous people I am really not keen on. I avoid all media about them, if something pops up on a feed I immediately click away, there have been threads on MN and I swerve because I do not want to fill my head with negative dislike.

Edited

Aren't you the poster that started numerous threads on Prince Andrew?

I've covered this. He is part of the Institution which I criticise.

Hope that helps.

Why do you follow what @Roussette does so much? aren't you the poster who once listed out quite a lot of her posting history, going back years?

Yeah I mean it was basically reality TV like Keeping Up With The Kardashians but with posh people… people are fascinated and will tune in, but not twice

skullbabe · 13/12/2023 22:36

Keeping Up With The Kardashians

I disagree that the Kardashians produce a similar product. They obviously have a mutiseason diverse portfolio of interconnected products/ventures which they have built over 20+ years into a multi million (billion?) business. The reality tv aspect of their portfolio is not similar to “Harry & Meghan” in subject or scope - as someone above said I would be keen to see the Beckham documentary numbers or Tiger King to get a like for like.

And people were interested in “Harry & Meghan” - it’s not a zero sum game.

Anyway - glad Netflix are now publishing this information, a common complaint has always been that the decisions to cancel shows has been very opaque. Having looked at the numbers a little more tonight - they are playing a numbers game and they are pretty ruthless with it hence some of the somewhat inexplicable cancellations.

But that is the same for any similar product……..I don’t really get your point. “Don’t f**k with cats” had huge initial
interest because of buzz and marketing - it still exists on the platform but of course viewing figures and interest is down. It was always going to be the same with “Harry & Meghan” as it was a documentary about a certain period of time. Regardless - it had a good showing and drove a significant amount of interest (which is what important to the Netflix bottom line).

CallmeSand · 13/12/2023 23:50

Serial killers are definitely more interesting than Harry and Meghan.

Well of course. Not quite sure why you’re saying the obvious.

ALittleTeawithmilk · 14/12/2023 02:31

I watched a new realease on Netflix last night. A movie with Julia Roberts and Mahershala Ali. Watching the credits roll, I realised it was executive produced by Barak and Michelle Obama. I was surprised they didn’t advertise that. (Or maybe they did and i just missed that bit.)

Its worth a watch if you like end of the world movies.
