Meghan Markle's childhood and looks

Following on from the threads about the Princess of Wales, which have provided ample opportunity for discussion and comment, it seems only right to open up a similar discussion about Meghan Markle.

Let's start with her childhood. Do people think it was the way Thomas Markle raised her as a white single dad that led to the development of her personality?

And what about her looks? How does she manage to keep her legs so lovely and slim?

You really think that the Kate thread was started by a supporter? What nonsense. It is obvious that the posts on the women have NOT been started by their supporters.

Her heritage no but part of her looks which is a feature of her ethnicity?

Do you understand systems of power in the world? It takes a strong woman of colour to stand against the relentless tide of white womaness as the beauty ideal across the western world - you see it in the zero sum way Kate is described as an ideal on the very threads this one was created to counteract (and this is not me saying that Kate is not an attractive well groomed woman). People of colour have it drummed into them that their hair is too curly, their noses to broad, their bums too big, their lips too large, their eyes too big - it’s even worse in entertainment when people like Meghan will have it dawn on them the benefit of being ambiguous. People like Rashida Jones, Maya Rudolph, Wentworth Miller (And maybe Vin Diesel) are all examples of biracial people who many people who say are ambiguous but do not deny their heritage but also remove many traces which would confirm their heritage as opposed to maintaining their ambiguity (straightened hair or shaved heads, rhinoplasty, tweaks). So Meghan may have had a rhinoplasty- it’s subtle and does not give her a caucasian nose - it allows her to be ambiguous which sadly gives her advantages. You’ll have many people of colour who are so far removed from the ”ideal” of thinness, straight hair and small features that they realise that it’s an impossible task to try and achieve. People
like Meghan who don’t have do as much to achieve that “ideal” cannot be castigated for making choices to give her advantages and an easier time than who would need significantly more work.

My DD is very like MM, I'm white and envy lots of her features like her lovely full lips and the fact you can't see blue veins through her skin. She has had "teasing" about her nose when she was at school and went through a phase of hair straightening but I love the fact that she has embraced her hair and her nose and lips. People can do what they like but it seems a shame that we can't accept that. Would I do something to my skin if I could make it less paper white and transparent? I'm not sure but I would be tempted I know that.

The same applies to any woman making alterations to their face, no less or more scrutiny should be applied to woc. Kate has also had her nose done.

rosyglowcondition · 12/12/2023 11:12

@Iwantcakeeveryday What evidence do you have that Kate has had a nose job? Not criticising her or Meghan one way or the other but you keep repeating this, so I'm curious.

Kate's parents both have perfectly straight well proportioned noses, so I seriously doubt Kate's had a nose job, unless due to an accident.

Same as the evidence for Meghan, photographs. Kate has had a lot of work done, which is understandable given the scrutiny, as the board's shown this week. I find both threads deplorable FYI, and asked for them to be removed. Nobody is starting threads on the ugly men.

Completely disagree, Meghan was just a beautiful as a young girl and has had tweaks but looks broadly the same. Kate has had surgery and botox, but also looks mostly the same. Sadly many women get themselves changed beyond recognition, but its a sad reflection of our society.

rosyglowcondition · 12/12/2023 12:06

@Iwantcakeeveryday so no 'evidence'? Just speculation. There's nothing wrong with having a nose reconstruction btw and if Meghan has it looks perfectly ok. Both Kate's parents have think straight noses so it's quite unlikely, but as I say it really isn't important.

Yes I agree, both threads are not helpful to anyone.

I'm too much of a coward to do it, particularly the nose, makes me wince to think of it. Apart from that not much point at my age, if you've had a face for 70 years you might as well stick with it. The thing I hate most is how my lips have disappeared, I never had big luscious lips but they have totally disappeared.

They look so similar. Very pretty.

Young Meghan looks very pretty too.

I've still got a silk/cotton crochet top like that in my wardrobe.

whiskylover2 · 12/12/2023 12:25

I think Meghan's mum and dad are very average, normal looking people.

Meghan on the other hand is absolutely stunning!

Iwantcakeeveryday · 12/12/2023 09:59

thats a load of nonsense. Kates thread was started by a new poster, as this was, and was asking how to be more like her. Kate gets mostly positive comments on this board. Meanwhile theres been thread after thread supposedly about a book that is full of hate towards Meghan. The nastiest posts on Kate are not from regulars here at all, so thats just not true. The idea that its 'open season' on Kate is laughable, its Meghan that gets the hate and vitriol, not perfect Kate.

so true. i do get annoyed with people who pop up and pretend that kate is targeted on here.
you only have to look at the royal topic to see the countless threads ripping meghan apart. there are so many some have numbers next to them.
very and its very occasionally Kate gets bashed.
as a working royal I think discussing her work is fine, not so keen on the body/clothes stuff.

Agree. I've had a face like a dropped pie for that long, I quite like it now!

As for the pic...yikes, I love my white jeans <embarrassing>

I am sure you both look lovely, theres nothing wrong with an older woman's face, we are just used to famous and rich people modifying theirs! I remember thinking when I was little that my grandmother looked so beautiful. I used to like 'getting ready' with her, she just put a single face cream on and some beads and earrings- not like today with our various different layers of bb creams, and primers and a thousand other things! But she looked amazing to me, wrinkled but really beautiful and crucially, alive well into her old age. My best friend from primary school died recently from breast cancer, so I am just glad to be here with my family :) I am sure we all probably think the same on that.

Roussette · 12/12/2023 14:46

@Iwantcakeeveryday

That's very sweet of you. Totally agree. I just think that the older one gets, you lose people close to you (as you have done) and you are just so grateful to scrape through life warts an' all.

I try and make the best of myself, but there are more important things, but I'm not in the public eye like Kate and Meghan. I can get it wrong and it doesn't matter.

I've got a horrible cold, an even more horrible chest infection. I have cold sores on my top lip, round my nose and up my nose. I feel horrible and look even worse. I was supposed to have my hair done today but had to cancel, next available appointment is 2nd January so I will be sporting the Worzel Gummidge look for the festive season.

Thanks for the vote of confidence though.
