Meghan Markle's childhood and looks

Following on from the threads about the Princess of Wales, which have provided ample opportunity for discussion and comment, it seems only right to open up a similar discussion about Meghan Markle.

Let's start with her childhood. Do people think it was the way Thomas Markle raised her as a white single dad that led to the development of her personality?

And what about her looks? How does she manage to keep her legs so lovely and slim?

I think anyone can look beautiful when surrounded by professionals, good healthcare, exercise, beauty products, PTs, hairdressers, dentists etc.

I used to think years ago how amazing Kylie Minogue brushed up, look at Cheryl Tweedy, Louise Thompson, Adele, Kelly Osbourne to name a few random women.

Meghan and Kate are the same. Had they grown up on an inner city estate with a Collection mascara and four kids each they would not have looked as they do now.

We all have the potential to look amazing I believe, sadly not the time or money and in my case the inclination either. I find beauty treatments tedious.

FinallyFinalGirl · 11/12/2023 08:01

OP why did you call Catherine the Princess of Wales in your first post, and in the same breath call Meghan, 'Meghan Markle'?

You can't try to prove some kind of sinister double standards are going on with others and how odious it is, when you're doing it yourself.

Roussette · 11/12/2023 08:02

TerfTalking I totally agree with you. Access to all that most of us can only dream about, gives you a headstart. A big one. That applies to Kate and Meghan.
(Incidentally sorry OP, not derailing honest... but oh my, didn't Kylie look wonderful last night!)

skullbabe · 11/12/2023 08:02

Interesting! Where did they all suddenly fly in from, then?

I think some people are misguided in their admiration and this can lead them down some very odd paths. The thread about upbringing was very strange because the answer is yes - that family had a great upbringing with active engaged parents. Unless you suspect its sole purpose is to veer into bashing? Hmm food for thought.

😂 Look how well that turned out for him!

To your second point about Meghan’s family - I think it can’t have been easy being the youngest child of a blended family in which your siblings are so much older and have for the most part left home. She has spoken about being lonely. It seems, however, that her parents had a good parenting relationship - the parent who speaks the most to the press doesn’t have anything to say about the other. It appears that they made reasonable decisions too - they were active and engaged by giving their child the best experiences they were able to - the parent with the most money ensured that their child had a good education and helped support their child in university.

Again - a bit of a non starter but I take the point.

itsmyp4rty · 11/12/2023 08:26

I think both of them are gorgeous, I think Catherine is a lot more clued up than Meghan though, who doesn't come across well at all.

MrsLeonFarrell · 11/12/2023 08:32

I commented on the other thread so I'll comment here!

Meghan shows all the advantages of having time and money, just like Catherine. Like with Catherine I think she's a perfectly healthy size (her legs did look thin in that gym shot but it could be a combination of angle and leggings, even mine can look thin like that!). I think it is always important to remember that if people exercise regularly they have more muscle mass which is heavier than fat but takes up less space so I don't think it's possible to know what people weigh and it's none of our burned. I find it rude to call people names or assume they have problems from a photograph. And if you think stress or an eating disorder is making someone thin, maybe stop writing unkind things about them rather than using it as a way to criticise them further?

Unlike Catherine she doesn't appear to have had a completely stable family background and this probably does affect her, as all of us are affected by our families. I'm going by press reports here though.

Rockybooboo · 11/12/2023 08:50

I don't agree with the Catherine thread and I don't agree with this one. Two wrongs don't make a right.
Also you can like\dislike both women at the same time. It doesn't have to be two camps.

This is a two in one then... only just seen the Catherine childhood one. It's new

It was started 6 hours before this one.

Gingerboy22 · 11/12/2023 10:09

It certainly looks as if Meghan has had a nose job when you look at her younger photos as opposed to now.

Flixon · 11/12/2023 10:28

Meghan has a thick waist and slim legs. She is an apple shape ( of will be / would be) Kate is more proportioned with a (very) slim waist and hips

Yes. That's why I said it's new. I don't check for new threads on the RF board continually. I was asleep!

Gingerboy22 · 11/12/2023 10:43

@Flixon a very difficult shape to dress. As we all know we can't spot reduce and trying to get one area "in line" often results in others being less than satisfactory.

cocolocopocos · 11/12/2023 07:51

Interesting! Where did they all suddenly fly in from, then?

Some sort of clarion call perhaps?

Indeed I think I saw that phrase used recently.🤔

Roussette · 11/12/2023 11:14

I use that phrase, and have done more than once, if that is what you are referring to.

Nothing peculiar about it. Just a turn of phrase I have used. Why does everything have to be cloak and dagger and hidden agenda lol

ALittleTeawithmilk · 11/12/2023 12:09

My comment on the Catherine thread was this:

That there is a thread on here titled ‘Catherine’s looks’ just depresses me.

I feel the same way about this thread.

I think both the Catherine threads are questionable however you would do well to note that most of the people on those threads are not RF threads regulars.

New threads always appear in 'active' so lots of non regulars see them and post. Once it goes out of active it just the usual RF posters left. No conspiracy theory I'm afraid.

rosyglowcondition · 11/12/2023 12:43

Coincidentally you also get far more realistic opinions rather than the usual polarised on on this board.

rosyglowcondition · 11/12/2023 12:47

The soap commercial has been debunked many times. Meghan was only one child in a class effort. If the commercial was changed it was not one single child's letter, but a far wider criticism of it. No record of her writing a letter and crickets from the actual company. As it's her childhood we're talking about I'm pretty sure her doting dad convinced her she had made this change unaided, which is what doting parents do.

Samcro · 11/12/2023 14:25

what a goady thread. so many times we are told that kate is the future queen and mm is irrelevant. yet if there is a not very nice thread about kate the op thinks there should be one about meghan.
strange and goady as fuck.

Yep

cocolocopocos · 11/12/2023 15:47

@skullbabe that is not the case. There are plenty of 'RF regulars' posting some pretty spiteful speculation about Kate - and even her children - on those threads.
