Can someone explain to me the procedure and how this works?

So reading that article it appears that Sir Edward Young was arguing on RAVEC that the security should be kept and the entire challenge PH has raised is based on his deep dislike of someone rather than any factual basis; and the decision to pull the security doesn't appear to have been influenced by Young but was a RAVEC decision.

If that's true then what a tit PH looks. Publicly name calling and denigrating someone who was actually doing the reverse of the accusations PH has been levelling at him.

@HeddaGarbled

I am waiting to hear your reply to my recent post..
🙄

I tell you something else, people like yourself make me laugh 😃 too,

who get so worked up on mumsnet, about obviously over privileged people such as Prince Harry and Princess Meghan and you don't even know them..

such as hypocrisy of Prince Harry and Princess Meghan, on highlighting climate issues, they swan around on private planes to see their friends in high places events ,
It's well known that private planes are bad for the environment,
but if you point out their hypocrisy such as that,
you are accused of racism,

I’ve criticised Harry and Meghan for their air miles catching private jets and no one has called me a racist for doing so.

sashagabadon · 09/12/2023 10:20

Harry will think it’s a conspiracy though. Imo he’ll think that the letter is / was just for the purpose of arse covering as he does the same tactic ( as we’ve seen with the payment situation)

although it is actually his fault the letter has even become public as a result of a court case he is pursuing and we even know about it but no doubt he’ll have a conspiracy about that too! It’s like 4 D chess!

But his security hasn't really been 'pulled'.

He actively chose to live outside the United Kingdom and give up his official role. Obviously his security arrangements would change to reflect that. If Harry believes he's entitled to security in his place of residence, he needs to take that up with the authorities in the State of California, not RAVEC. And he has been given special privileges in the sense that his security needs in Britain will be reviewed on a case by case basis. If a threat is perceived, security will be provided. That's more than generous.

And yes, he is a total prat. His worldview is that of a spoiled adolescent. I don't think he's capable of living in the real world, even a rich person's version of the real world.

Why can’t Harry pay for his own security like he does in USA. He is a multimillionaire ffs.

Personally I think Harry believes if he says something f everyone needs to jump. If he says something is fact, it is! He makes up all kinds of nonsense to suit his current position, we're all getting sick and tired of him and his bullish ways of trying to make a story his story ... but we all saw and heard what happened 4 years ago.
With regard to the security, I think he'd like royal security in the Uk so he can still be half in half out, and could use it in the states to show he's more important than he actually is ... I seem to recall he's given security umbrella anyway, he just wants armed police to escort him to places like Netflix etc so he looks sssooo important ... IMO

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 09/12/2023 10:31

I'll say one thing - I'm really glad I'm not on his legal team/teams and trying to explain things to him.

But his security hasn't really been 'pulled'

Sorry, I was using the phrasing of the article when the lost their Canadian security. Agree he's getting the best deal he can expect under the circs.

What I find deeply distasteful is his public abuse of people like Edward Young; presumably because they didn't immediately snap to attention and give PH what he was demanding. It's a total abuse of privilege knowing that they can't answer back.

Cosywintertime · 08/12/2023 08:23

I think it’s a status thing. His status in the royal family is critical to them both, losing armed protection undermines that. Plus as we have all seen, he doesn’t take it well when he doesn’t get his own way

Absolutely this! Spoiled entitled brat

Yes.

He's started a lengthy legal procedure, wasting public resources and money, in a fit of pique.

I wonder if he even knows that this is only a Judicial Review? That even if he 'wins', the courts can't change RAVEC's decision, just order it to be reviewed? And that the probability is that they would come to the same decision all over again? So much expense, stress and effort, for that?

FloofCloud · 09/12/2023 10:37

@Menstrualcycledisplayteam - the Kate/Meghan crying thing, which is pathetic anyway, how do you know which way around it was? Because Meghan said it was her crying ? Because she never lies does she 🙄

parksandrecs · 09/12/2023 10:39

I think a lot of his (and their joint) decisions are made on that basis - they react emotionally and don't sit down and think 'what end result do I want, and what would be a realistic way of getting it, or as near to it as possible.'

pilates · 09/12/2023 10:41

What are you insinuating @Roussette?

I'm almost afraid to say I know someone who works for the RF as well in case I get a passive aggressive dig and a derail attempt about how unlikely that is.

What I find deeply distasteful is his public abuse of people like Edward Young;

When did this happen?

tinatsarina · 09/12/2023 10:45

He left because of leaking within the palace and now he's out the leaks are all coming from his own side 😆

He doesn't need all that security, only for pre determined events. He's 6th In line now, not that important.

parksandrecs · 09/12/2023 10:46

It's the Harry and Meghan approach to communication - make an insinuation rather than a straightforward comment, and when challenged widen your eyes and say 'but I never said...'!

Isn't the basis of Harry's application for JR because of the malign influence of Edward Young (among others - the Fly, the Wasp etc etc)

parksandrecs · 09/12/2023 10:51

Actually, now I think about it I know two people who have had senior jobs at Buck Palace!!!!

Through work, I know them to speak to but no more... 😂

They have never, sadly, opened up to me about their views on the principals involved. You will be the first to know if I manage to get them to be indiscreet at the office Christmas party!

Maireas · 09/12/2023 10:51

Excellent points, @IcedPurple . I think it's foolish to pursue cases because of a perceived sense of victimhood, as opposed to genuine concerns.

Yes, the composition of RAVEC was one of his concerns
