Can someone explain to me the procedure and how this works?

I wonder when the judge will rule one this? After Christmas I suppose now?

I'm not sure that they've said.

I can only recall that it would be "later" (and I've just had a quick google and haven't found it)

I guess so. Which means it will be nearly two years since he first brought the case. And as said above, even if he wins the JR, all that will happen is that the decision will have to be reviewed by RAVEC. That will also probably take some time, and they may very well come to the same decision all over again.

It seems like an awful lot of time, money and hassle for a very uncertain outcome.

rosyglowcondition · 19/12/2023 20:06

@IcedPurple Article I just read said £1 million...eek! Taxpayers that is, not Harry!

Presumably if he loses, he will have to pay the costs?

I believe the Home Office lawyers said in the first hearing that their intention is to recoup all their costs if the JR is unsuccessful. Since Harry is having to pay 50K just for the failed Summary Judgement claim in his libel case, the costs for the whole JR will surely be very high. Not sure about £1 million, but certainly in the hundreds of thousands?

rosyglowcondition · 19/12/2023 20:48

@IcedPurple Sounds feasible. For Harry though it's not about the money, it's about the hubris.

whattheactualfrog · 19/12/2023 21:17

I may end up with egg on my face but I predict he will lose but still end up with SOMETHING… a form not filled in properly, a box not checked etc. There have been recent examples of people suing the government departments who have lost but found administrative errors which allowed both sides to claim victory. I think that will happen again. He will have something to show for it, but not something that would have influenced the overall outcome & he’ll have to pay most legal fees. That’s my prediction for 2024!

rosyglowcondition · 19/12/2023 21:19

I'm deadly curious what 2024 has ahead!

There is now a story circulating that Andrew is watching the case as he still resents his daughters losing their security and thinks if Harry wins they will get it back. To be fair I don't think Beatrice or Eugenie have ever given any hint that they feel the same way. The man is completely delusional.

Agree. B and E seem to be very happy and getting in with their lives with their husbands and children.
Andrew is living in cloud cuckoo land if he thinks their security will be reinstated.

mpsw · 21/12/2023 09:46

I think there could be a case for all those who are COS to have security in UK when on official duties. That would include Beatrice but not Eugenie.

I think there is a better case for working royals to have security when on official duties. That would include neither York Princess (nor Harry) but would include the Duchess of Edinburgh, and continue whatever the Kents and Gloucesters get.

(I expect an article on what the Duke of York is thinking is likely to be straight invention, designed to reinforce that he's an utter twerp)

Edited

The Duchess of Edinburgh already has security when on duty. Beatrice and Eugenie don't carry out official duties so don't have security. If Beatrice was ever needed to act as COS then it would be somewhere which has security already like the State Opening. I don't think they need personal security which is what Andrew fought against having removed. Politely because of the fuss he made then and the way he keeps trying to weasel his way back into public life, I believe that this is something he is trying to pursue.

I passed Bea and Eug coming back from coronation street party and they had an outrider. They like the rest have security when actively involved in anything with the family. Both also live largely on guarded estates.

PH has dropped his libel claim against the MoS, realting to their reporting of the RAVEC judicial review.

Wasn’t giving any smug statements about tackling media mistruths this time was he,, as it seems he’s once again been the one doing the misleading,,

Maireas · 19/01/2024 14:56

Interesting. No statement from him?

IcedPurple · 19/01/2024 14:58

I thought Harry had made it his mission in life to 'take on' the horrid 'British media'? Unlike his cowardly brother who quietly settled cases out of court?

....and donated settlement money to Invictus!

Cosywintertime · 19/01/2024 15:03

its actually outrageous, it does look like not only did he lie and attempt to mislead the public, he then tried to legally threaten the mail on Sunday to penalise them for revealing it, see exert below from the fail.

a preliminary hearing, in March last year, the newspaper's KC showed the court an extract from an email in which Harry – far from offering to pay for his security – argued he needed a job first, writing 'we couldn't afford private security until we were able to earn

he also tried to do it over the naming of lillibet with the bbc then dropped that. He seems to try to use lawyers to bully folks who publish the truth about them.

Maireas · 19/01/2024 15:04

Awful behaviour.

User3563573 · 19/01/2024 15:05

He's running out of money. It's 100% certain they will get dropped by Netflix in 2024 as there's been no hint of new projects. And there are only so many tell-all memoirs they can write. The Omid Scobie book didn't pay them anything and Spare's success is already one year back.

The RF in the UK has a ton of other things to be concerned about at the moment and nobody is interested in more drama from H&M regarding how evil the British media is.

wildernesssw · 19/01/2024 15:13

So it isn't only the tabloids who lie?

User3563573 · 19/01/2024 15:13

He seems to try to use lawyers to bully folks who publish the truth about them.

Interestingly, there were strong rumours that MN was threatened legally during H&M's last few years in the UK (2018-2020ish). The RF board was moderated within an inch of its life. Any remote criticism of H&M was zapped within minutes and the word "racism" actually used as justification in the deletion message.

The extreme moderation disappeared virtually overnight after H&M moved to the USA. Most likely a law firm was no longer held on retainer to scour British websites and media sources and threaten them into submission. Obviously nasty posts still get deleted but with a standard "Not in the spirit" or "against talk guidelines".

wildernesssw · 19/01/2024 15:14

There still seems to be a lot of freedom for H&M supporters to post aggressively
