It’s definitely the King and Princess of Wales who are named in the book.

Just checked - the Dutch site has been updated and no longer names Princess Michael of Kent.

It next said "An employee of Meghan allegedly discovered who the royal racist was based on her correspondence, Scobie writes. But he didn't give a name. In his own words because the laws surrounding defamation make that impossible for him.
In the Dutch translation of Endgame, which was published on Tuesday, it is stated in black and white that it was King Charles who was concerned about the skin color of his grandchild. When the publisher discovered this, it was immediately decided to remove the book from the shelves."

And latest:
"The Dutch version of the book, entitled Final Battle, contains the name of the member of the British royal family (Charles) who allegedly made a comment about the skin color of Archie, Harry and Meghan's son. This passage is missing in the English version. Later in the book, Princess Catherine is also linked to concerns about Archie's skin color."

It's all a bit odd for want of a better word. Scobie says he didn't name anyone, but then we have 2 poeple named, then one and then 2 again, but with one of those a different person to the first time.

I think he did what he thought judicious in the circs. Unconscious bias is a form of racism, one that is more palatable to white people.

I'm sure he did. Personally I find it a little uncomfortable when a privileged white man with a book to sell goes on television, minimises his mixed race wife's experience of racism and defends a family friend's racism because she didn't mean it.

Harry doesn't agree with your definition btw, he thinks that unconscious bias and racism are different and that one can lead to the other.

Given your general approach to race as evidenced on the thread, I take that with a pinch of salt.

Exactly. He was brought up by them and in that atmosphere. His own racist behaviour never occurred to him as being racist. He was surrounded by Upper Class White people and sycophants who never challenge him or any member of his family. His grandfather made numerous racist remarks, all laughed off as ' banter' towards people who were unable to 'banter' back, his grandmother asked to be exempted from the Race Relations Act and subsequently the Equality Act. They are in possession of Crown Jewels taken from a seven year old couched as a ' gift' to Queen Victoria are the clearest beneficiaries of colonialism in possibly the whole of Europe. It would be a remarkable triumph of enlightenment over all upbringing and experience for them not to be racist. But I doubt they think much of anyone who is not rich or titled or both. They have a huge PR machine. That is the only difference between Harry and the rest of them.

LittleGlowingOblong · 30/11/2023 14:25

I think there’s been a mistake. Non-Uk writers / editors could easily assume the Princess of Wales was the wife of the Prince of Wales, as was Charles in 2019.

Very very easy to imagine Camilla making a racist remark, deliberately or accidentally, to a woman she was hostile to, after a few G&Ts.

I honestly think there’s been an editorial screw-up. I think the manuscript said the Prince of Wales, and the Princess of Wales, and someone’s added the wrong name in to clarify.

Darkly amusing if so.

The point is those names have been well known in the media for a long time but reporting restrictions prevented sharing in the U.K.

Either Scobie is lying when he said his copy sent to the British publisher named no names, or he’s telling the truth and they were added abroad to sell more copies.

Plausible theory.

Whenever I image the UK as a republic, my brain conjures up an image of Lord Cameron (that puffed up, greedy, pink cheeked, mendacious, devious, fake, shiny, repulsive twat) pouncing around as President. I think I prefer the puffed up twits in service already.

Hughs · 30/11/2023 14:27

What do you see as my general approach to race?

And what are you taking with a pinch of salt? What he said is out there, you don't have to take my word for it.

Teentaxidriver · 30/11/2023 14:28

Or we'd end up with a c* like Baroness Mone

LittleGlowingOblong · 30/11/2023 14:29

In 2019, Camilla was the Princess of Wales, she just used one of her other titles to avoid the Diana association.

I haven’t followed closely, was it Piers Morgan who first specified Catherine? He’s so fixated on Meghan he wouldn’t be thinking coolly.

willWillSmithsmith · 30/11/2023 14:29

Mikimoto · 30/11/2023 14:04

So is she now Racist-y-Wait-y-Katie?!

Racist-y-Wait-y-Katie-Keen if you please.

Have there ever been such bitchiest bitches as H, M and O? It’s cringe and embarrassing how these three middle aged people behave like tantrumy toddlers.

starfro · 30/11/2023 14:29

It's clearly rubbish, maybe just manufactured to sell the book.

Kate and Charles aren't racists, this has been entirely made up to sell the H+M story and/or newspapers. Even Harry went back on it and clarified that it wasn't racism (and said it was made up by the papers).

BethDuttonsTwin · 30/11/2023 14:31

It was stupid, honestly. If you really have to give your say, you issue a single, well considered written statement and then leave it. If you talk freely in conversation for two hours about sensitive stuff, inevitably you are going to say something silly that can be used against you.

I think Meghan just couldn’t say no to Oprah - one of the most famous, powerful and wealthy women in the world. This was the culmination of her dreams of stardom. I think she really believed this would catapult her into the stratosphere, which in a way it did, but not in the way she’d hoped. We know Harry is pretty clueless in general but even in that interview he was trying to limit the nonsense. He must have been horrified by the circus he’d agree to unleash. I’m sure he’s used to it by now though.

I see your preoccupation with Harry and no attention to racism in the RF; I see an attempt to minimise racism at Highgrove.

What he said is out there, I happen not to agree with him. It was a politic not a forthright answer.

MM on OW

2 racist royals?
2 racist royals?
2 racist royals?
Tulipsroses · 30/11/2023 14:34

Our good friends are waiting for a baby girl. She is Asian he is English and ginger. I made a comment on how beautiful the girl will look as long as she not ginger. Now I don't know was it too much, can you make a comment like this nowadays.

HellonMusk · 30/11/2023 14:35

H on OW and ITV
OS Dutch version

I’m just so confused!

2 racist royals?

I see the Beckhams or Robbie Williams. However Ireland manages to elect sensible, dignified presidents so I see no reason why we can’t.

mantyzer · 30/11/2023 14:36

@Tulipsroses why would you make an insulting comment like that? Very hurtful thing to say.

Moonlightdust · 30/11/2023 14:37

lunar1 · 29/11/2023 22:20

DH and I often talked about what our mixed race children might look like when I was pregnant.

Yes my DH and I are a mix of nationalities and we wondered what our children would look like. They actually all have slightly different skin tones. It’s natural curiosity. I think it’s a complete over reaction from MM who was looking for any excuse for ammunition against the RF as she was out of her depth and naive about what marrying into royalty would actually be like.

CurlewKate · 30/11/2023 14:37

@Tulipsroses " I made a comment on how beautiful the girl will look as long as she not ginger. Now I don't know was it too much, can you make a comment like this nowadays"
Excuse me? I can't imagine circumstances in which that is an OK thing to say!

mantyzer · 30/11/2023 14:40

There will be another race incident along before six months passes. This is going to be how the Royal Family roll now.
The last major one before this one, was Lady Hussey.

HellonMusk · 30/11/2023 14:40

Did many conversations occur while MM was pregnant as she said on Oprah? Did just one happen before they were married as was said by H on Oprah?
They family are not racist as H said to TB?
OS now saying MM and KC wrote about these racists conversations in private letters to each other and the letters name KC and C?
