PH’s biggest PE failure is the bizarre notion that he believes he’s like everyone else. He’s not.

That's the problem with society. We are fixated on the differences and reject people 'not like us', dismiss people based on wealth- in both directions. You didn't;t read Spare and it shows. He absolutely understands that he is different and that is actually a huge focus of the book, why its damaging to have a family in his family's position. But he also knows that underneath it, we all have much more in common and that is something that can unite.

But he's not allowed to talk about it? same thing to me. You have no idea if the right support was available to him. How would you like it if I said that to you about your DH? Go and get it, its out there. Its about the appropriate support network. If you watch the series its clear that includes other veterans and a network with each other. You're wrong about what wealth buys you, completely and utterly wrong.

He can talk about it with friends family, peers etc. but to assign himself the public spokesperson as the Wronged Solider who was in a support wilderness leaving the Army is utterly, utterly wrong. Do you know how many people leaving the Army leave to be homeless, or to fall into a life of crime because they have no option? How many don’t have millions of daddy therefore have to get a shitty job they can’t handle doing because the tiniest of things, like a till slamming, triggers their undiagnosed PTSD? Or how many return to the life that has deeply traumatised them because otherwise they be on the streets?

How many do you think like PH have the privilege of returning to a cushy home with millions in the bank and the privilege of never having to work again? It’s a joke that he think he can be the poster boy for infantry men, a total and utter joke.

I am not wrong about wealthy buys an easier life. I’m shocked anyone would think I was wrong. And it’s offensive to say otherwise. Who do you think finds it easier to treat PTSD: A millionaire who doesn’t work and can buy all the support and counselling he wants, or a homeless man who’s turned to drugs and crime to get by? I’d like an answer to that please.

No I didn’t read Spare because I don’t fancy listening to some overprivileged idiot whine about his life. If any sector can be ‘othered’ it is 100% the RF. they actually function from being othered - it’s what sets them apart and keeps a rather draconian institute surviving.

And while we’re talking about racism for all the moaning this annoying pair do about it, it will be VERY different for these 2 living in LA than it will for your average black family who simply being stopped by the police for having a brake light out could result in them being shot, or who will experience a much higher rate of every day discrimination. I am not a POC but I imagine it must be annoying for POC to have these dummies schooling the average person on white privilege. I mean the RF is the epitome of white privilege. They uphold white privilege! And this is what I mean about PH thinking he can be the spokesperson for every marginalised group. He’s a twat, an overprivileged whiny self centered twat and I think she is too on a lesser scale.

No it isn't. Not an offensive to me at all, and I grew up poorer than most and homeless too. I do not agree that 'everything is easier if you're wealthy'. Paying for things you need is. But losing your mother as a child is NOT easier if you're wealthy and neither is war.

I hate the monarchy and everything it represents. But it is simply untrue to say everything in life is easier if you're wealthy.

Its sad but having someone with a high profile champion a cause is often necessary for it to succeed. When you have a high profile and choose to give this kind of issue a platform, thats a good thing, and there are many vets who have said he's saved their life.

If you're not a POC, please don't speak for us or imagine our lives. Listen to us instead. No it is not annoying for them to talk about privilege, I am grateful they have. I appreciate ANYONE speaking about it, regardless of their background. Saying Meghan, a poc, upholds white privilege is disgusting.

The Games saved their life.

I thought you said you were at Boarding School or do you thing that was homeless. I mean certainly it may be emotionally.

WeetabixTowels · 02/09/2023 11:42

do not agree that 'everything is easier if you're wealthy'

Really? You grew up homeless - I’m assuming that was due to lack of money rather than an active choice? You don’t think money would have made things easier? I think you do, you’re just digging your heels in now.

But losing your mother as a child is NOT easier if you're wealthy and neither is war.

It is. Someone who is homeless, or on poverty will feel the struggle of losing a mother far more than a wealthy person. I’m not saying it’s not awful for wealthy people of course it is. But they won’t have the knock on effects of no wage coming in, no childcare, having to now look after siblings etc.

there are many vets who have said he's saved their life

Point me to just one that has said this.

You didn’t answer my question BTW.

Well you don’t speak for all POC either. I know plenty who think H&M are absolutely the wrong people to talk about everyday racism

So, basically, murdoch media et al have accused Harry of (1) not acknowledging that the media did report on the returning Veterans, and (2) making it all about himself.

In doing so, the media has failed to (1) acknowledge the Vets and Invictus Games, and (2) made it all about Harry.

Let’s reframe that tabloid style!

So, basically, murdoch media et al have accused Harry of (1) not acknowledging that the media did report on the returning Veterans, and (2) making it all about himself.

In doing so, the media has

  1. Failed to acknowledge the veterans who put their lives on the line for us
  2. Failed to bring awareness to the Invictus Game’s crucial work in saving the lives of those veterans who were selected because they were the ones most in need of help.
  3. Used the suffering of veterans to prolong their campaign of harassment against Harry and Meghan (and anyone associated to them).
  4. Made it all about themselves.

Back off right now. The fact I had t go to boarding school as a child doesn't make me immune to homelessness later. for gods sake.

I was going to report this personal attack but I think tis better to leave it.

No I didn't;t grow up wealthy. Going to boarding school doesn't;t mean you're wealthy. theres all kinds of reason to go and there are bursaries to help.

I'll post where I like and I do not need to answer to you.

Read the two threads where I have linked their stories.

The orginal thread implied you grew up homeless but also remember you saying boarding school. I was interested is all because many generations of children grew up without a home because they were shipped back to the Home Country from the colonies and rarely ever returned as children or indeed ever.

It is regretful to hear about your struggles both at boarding school and later being homeless and I hope you are doing better now.

WeetabixTowels · 02/09/2023 11:52

So, a white woman has posted saying what she thinks she'd feel if she were a POC

POC says, I don't feel that, pease don't speak for us as a white person

White person responds with, you don't speak for all POC.

This is what is meant by a. micro aggression.

No single POC speaks for all of us, but no white person should speak for or about us at all.

Thank you. I am doing great now :)

My parents separated a lot and later divorced. During separation by mother often didn't;t eat. I left home and school at 16. Ive rented since then and because of that, my family was homeless twice.

Since everyone needs to know every detail or they'll suggest I'm a liar.

I agree wholeheartedly with everything you've written @WeetabixTowels , my dh was also in the forces and served in Afghanistan and Iraq ! But I couldn't have worded it as eloquently as you! 👍
