Recently spotted at a TSwift (allegedly), Barbie movie for her birthday, a restaurant, and then hanging out with friends in an Instagram selfie. She looks phenomenal in this photo!

Glad to see she's enjoying her life back home with her family.

Why did you tell this story though? What did it have to do with the conversation that was happening here? nothing at all. SO if you don't want to offend, then don't randomly tell a story which depicts poc as not qualified for positions they hold.

I'm trying to figure it out too as those were her own words and story not mine

When posters have nothing good to say about ANYTHING that Meghan does, even scrutinising as you and others once famously did, the way she holds her hand to her face, when you itemise the Botox you claim she had (while howling that Kate has had none, none at all how dare you etc) , when the white Markles are defended and Doria vilified,

You are talking about all the things I personally have done here. You are quite wrong about several of the assertions you make, though.

I have said that several things that Meghan has done are good and praiseworthy. I often push back against posters that try to minimise her success in a cutthroat industry before she met Harry. I have praised her confidence as a public speaker and often post compliments about what she has worn.

I did point out how she holds her hand or hands up to her face, yes - I also pointed out that she does it because it takes a beautiful picture and she is very aware of the power of a still image. There’s plenty of video footage of her loosely clasping her hands at chest level while standing on stage at the Kevin Costner event in Santa Barbara this week too, by the way.

I have pointed out several times that Kate has obviously had Botox too (it’s quite obvious, particularly as she stops when pregnant). I’m not aware that I’ve defended the Markles - I often posted how Meghan had all my sympathy for the way her family was acting around her wedding (although I later formed the view that the whole family dynamic is toxic, and I no longer saw Meghan as simply the victim of it). I’ve also never vilified Doria, I don’t think.

So if you chose to attack me personally, get your facts straight. I was a big supporter of Meghan’s initially, actually - I thought she came across as an amazing women with a fantastic opportunity to really achieve amazing things by having the platform and money of the Royal Family behind her. But eventually I realised my cognitive bias towards her was leading me into ever more tortuous justifications of behaviours that really, didn’t stand up to scrutiny (or only pointed one way) and once I realised that, I couldn’t do it any longer.

@Serenster "behaviours that really, didn’t stand up to scrutiny (or only pointed one way)"

Three little words missing here: "in my view"

Everyone's entitled to an opinion. No-one's entitled to dress up and misrepresent their opinions as facts.

Serenster · 26/09/2023 15:40

I have always presented all my opinions as just that, TallerSally.

I mean, I really don’t think that sentence could have been clearer - I was talking entirely about my own thought process.

So nice to see Meghan hangin' and chillin' in this throwback of the Suits cast in great pics by Patrick J Adams

Suits is on 30+ BILLION viewing hours this summer alone. Meghan's obv not the only cast member, but she's been credited by the show's creator Aaron Korsh and many others as contributing to the shows' resurgence. So much for Meghan being a talentless wannabee who was a nobody before dating Harry, according to so many on MN.

Is all of that saying "I've gone off of her" ?

Serenster · 26/09/2023 16:44

No.

Roussette · 26/09/2023 17:06

No idea what it does mean then, being a bit daft and stupid like I am

behaviours that really, didn’t stand up to scrutiny

According to whom?

Classic value judgement dressed as a fact.

Serenster · 26/09/2023 17:44

It means that I was constantly indulging in mental gymnastics to avoid thinking negatively of Meghan in various situations. For example, I would be thinking:

“She said this/did this but she is in the middle of the world’s biggest cultural shock so of course that’s understandable” and

“I know she said X but I’m going to assume what she really meant was Y and so that’s okay”. and

“It’s possible that there’s a kernel of truth there, and we’re all prone to exaggeration, so despite the fact her account doesn’t stand up to fact checking it’s okay”.

I did that for quite a while, and often defended her in real life discussions. But having to do it consistently, over and over again - eventually I realised what I was doing. That I was having to reframe loads and loads of things that were happening in order to justify them to myself. And it wasn’t just once or twice. And often it meant I had to assume the worst of other people too, despite having no reason to believe they were lying/racist/jealous etc.

Once I realised that was what I had been doing, I couldn’t do it any more.

Serenster · 26/09/2023 17:45

Classic value judgement dressed as a fact.

My value judgement. Patently not a fact. A valid opinion though.

“Opinions may vary…”

Mine is diametrically opposed to yours, and no less valid.

Fortunately, as is the case with many other posters here and around the world who see Meghan as a human being who was dealt with unfairly by the British Royal Family and who has been the target of mostly racially-motivated hatred from the British media and public, enabled by the RF, and has had to endure “credible threats “ to her safety, all this for standing her ground and refusing to subject herself to intrusion and insult, we can agree to differ.

Serenster · 26/09/2023 18:03

Mine is diametrically opposed to yours, and no less valid.

I have never suggested it wasn’t, TallerSally.

Queen Letizia of Spain has been working out. Not that keen on Kate's outfit today

Yes and therefore we are not reasonable or intelligent, we're just dumb people getting sucked in by this devil woman.

Mylovelygreendress · 26/09/2023 19:04

The hyperbole in some comments is incredible .
Devil woman ??

Serenster · 26/09/2023 19:13

Wowsers. You two are … something. I’m flattered you clearly think I’m so influential. 🤣🤣🤣

(Bet you regret asking me what I meant now Roussette - you unwittingly laid the ground for me to unleash my master plan…. :cue maniacal laughter: 😀 )

I'm glad you explained it to me actually and did lead me to think my first thoughts were right TBH
