Recently spotted at a TSwift (allegedly), Barbie movie for her birthday, a restaurant, and then hanging out with friends in an Instagram selfie. She looks phenomenal in this photo!

Glad to see she's enjoying her life back home with her family.

The cartoon was not in a 'bottom feeding site' it was in the Australian 'The Herald Sun' and widely discussed at the time.

Must have been before my time on here.

Goodness @MrsFiddle, attempting to deviate from the very specific research question @MrsMaxDeWinter articulated is rather unhelpful. Of course interracial issues are complex, who ever claimed otherwise? But one does not negate the other, and attempting to amalgamate and over-simplify feels like an attempt to dismiss the issue, and perhaps deny an uncomfortable truth?...

White women can enjoy getting sun-tans, or hair extensions or Kim Kardashian bottoms or Beyoncé songs or whatever and still feel deeply threatened by black women, particularly outspoken, attractive, (once) adulated, mixed-heritage part/white ones who've 'stolen' a white prince, then had the audacity to bounce.

But I did suggest this forum was unlikely to be the place for thoughtful engagement on this topic. @MrsMaxDeWinter happy to see you on the other one! (wherever it is - I have no idea)

Ummm no I am not trying to deviate from anything. I am though giving my experience of living in certain communities which is valid. I have to say that I do not feel threatened by any black women or WOC. I was specifically asked at an interview many years ago "how would you feel if your boss was a national who was less qualified than you but there because of purely being a national?" That was the beginning of a very interesting experience. I have no uncomfortable truths and indeed in the life I have led ( which you know nothing about) opened my eyes to many many new experiences. I have no idea what your middle paragraph is even about.

MrsFiddle · 25/09/2023 17:27

@Roussette No I don't remember any cartoon as I don't look at these bottom feeding sites as you call them. What on earth has it to with you being a WOC or not?

Ummm excuse me, it was in US and Australian press

I have already said I don't go on the unpleasant sites

And my DD (who is a massive fan of Serena) showed it to me and was shocked

Discussed widely in society! Surely you have heard of it?

I actually haven't and I didn't google earlier. I don't know why you are acting so surprised and as if I am lying.

Daisyislazy · 25/09/2023 20:33

@MrsFiddle I'm not sure what your point is about the interview question

The issue isn't whether you are threatened by a woc it's about how society reacts to people of colour

MrsFiddle · 25/09/2023 20:58

Daisyislazy · 25/09/2023 20:33

@MrsFiddle I'm not sure what your point is about the interview question

The issue isn't whether you are threatened by a woc it's about how society reacts to people of colour

Well it was a response to "still feel deeply threatened by black women" - isn't that a reaction to POC?

Daisyislazy · 25/09/2023 21:07

We were discussing how some white peoples are threatened by poc accessing traditionally white areas such as royalty etc

Still not sure what you mean by the interview comment

MrsFiddle · 25/09/2023 21:15

and I'm not sure what you mean by referring to the interview comment - so why don't you ask me what you want to in simple terms?

Daisyislazy · 25/09/2023 21:16

I don't think I can make it any simpler Confused

MrsFiddle · 25/09/2023 21:17

Well you can say that - let me help you - what interview question?

Daisyislazy · 25/09/2023 21:20

I think you have only mentioned one interview

MrsFiddle · 25/09/2023 21:24

Ah MY interview - sorry I get it now. I am merely telling you that this was a question that I was asked in an interview where I was going as part of a team to upgrade shall we say a status quo in a country but because of politics we would have bosses who were not skills and knowledge appropriate but would get the top jobs because of their nationality. It was a good question to ask or bring up as it made candidates aware of what it was likely to be like there and was as it turned out. It was part of an anecdote really in my story of ending up in certain countries for so long.

Daisyislazy · 25/09/2023 21:26

Thank you , I wasn't sure if that was what you meant

what did that story have to do with what was being discussed?

debbrianna · 25/09/2023 22:20

Daisyislazy · 25/09/2023 15:31

@MrsMaxDeWinter it threatens some white people to have black people entering areas that are have been traditionally white, people are "allowed" careers in rap music, some sports as that fits with a stereotype and they are comfortable about that. It's about keeping people down

Actually, with sports, my theory has always been that the talent is undeniable when you see a runner in front. You cannot say they came last when everyone can see.

Throwing or kicking a ball, everyone has eyes and they will see.

Where they can play games with sports like car racing, we can also see that it's not just the person but behind influencing results.

Where it becomes tricky is when you need to be made famous. Acting, singing, head office or political arenas. That is where you can see the goals shift.

Daisyislazy · 25/09/2023 22:48

Perhaps the person was a fantastic runner but actually wanted to be a lawyer? However being a runner was the direction in which they were steered as that was acceptable

The only thing I am going to say on all of this is that

"I had to work for people in other nations who I thought didn't deserve their position but they got it because of..."politics" and "nationality"..."

I did NOT say that. No one said these people did not deserve it. The interviewers from the country concerned asked a question but NOT THAT ONE. They were portraying a factual situation. The fact that people in their own country would be holding positions that they were not qualified to have.

I am not engaging in what is an obvious attempt to take these discussions the usual way - twist people's words, even lie about what they said to paint a racist picture in the hope that the poster will - what? - get so angry that they end up saying something that they will get deleted or banned. That is not going to happen here. I am sorry that some people feel this way and think I would be questioning myself as to why I am so intent on making other people the bad guy all the time even when it involves such appalling behaviour.

Daisyislazy · 26/09/2023 08:49

I'm just not clear what actual point you were making or how it fitted into the discussion
