Recently spotted at a TSwift (allegedly), Barbie movie for her birthday, a restaurant, and then hanging out with friends in an Instagram selfie. She looks phenomenal in this photo!

Glad to see she's enjoying her life back home with her family.

The thing is with the M&H supporters is that they never admit to any failing of either one of them. Even if it’s the incredibly minor issue of enjoying a concert or not. Yes that's the hilarious bit. As if they are perfect. I can't get over it 😂

Edited

But nobody has said that either. People who don't want to join in your endless criticisms don't actually think they're perfect. Nobody is.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 05/09/2023 09:42

has anyone said that?

No - that is not the argument. It’s more nuanced than that but it’s alright to not understand. We should leave it there - I’m sure we can find more things to criticise Meghan about soon.

I also don’t think it’s in the spirit of things to be accusing everyone else of being in a cult. Very few cults exist, most of the time in fact people have perfectly rational reasons to disagree that ought to be treated with respect.

I don't think its in the spirit to twist what people are saying either. Nobody has accused everyone here of being in a cult. There is often criticism of religions, which is allowed, and cult behaviour within them. That includes the Monarchy. Some people see it the way. Doesn't mean they're accusing you of anything.

PrincessTigger · 05/09/2023 09:49

I like Meghan and I suppose I tend towards giving her the benefit of the doubt. But I try to be balanced if she does something I think is wrong or unwise. I think that makes me one of the h8rz 😅

What are their faults then?

MrsFiddle · 05/09/2023 09:51

It was @Morestrangerthings1 :

"Honestly, I’d rejected the theory of a cult. But not so much now. I was doing a bit of reading overnight re cults (couldn’t sleep) and a lot of the behaviour of some of the people who don’t like Harry and Meghan do seem to fit the definition of cult followers. Not just on here, but elsewhere on social media - all over social media for that matter."

Not everyone but some. See my post above.

I had heard the phrase "Sussex Squad" on here before but didn't know much about them but I saw one of the links to the concert given the other day was from a Sussex Squad member - are they then seen as a cult?

I don't care to list peoples faults, especially if they don't bother me or have anything to do with me.

Wonderful!

No - they don’t meet the definition of a cult. Many people in fandoms/anti fandoms are guilty of groupthink though which is what I suspect you are thinking of. Matt, who shared the videos linked to by Sussex Squad accounts, was not part of it when he shared those videos. He is now calling himself the “Mexican Meghan Markle” 🤣.

Not sure what to make of you copying my comment to respond to someone else. Probably nothing but it is a bit odd.

The difference is there are no rituals or protocols for H&M. We dont have to pay for them. We dont sing songs about them. We don't think they are chosen by god. We don't have to bow to them. They are not above the law. Those things are cult like.

MrsFiddle · 05/09/2023 10:24

@skullbabe now that sounds a bit weird. I did google but only got a woman. who dresses like Meghan.

I did not say everyone. I said some.

Matt, tongue very firmly in cheek, is having lots of fun with his newly found social media fame.

Following on from that explanation then there is no way people who criticise Harry and Meghan can be described as being members of a cult as they certainly don't think any of those.😂

But that is true of any head of state. For example, American presidents can pardon themselves and their associates (and turkeys of course 😂). National anthems are sung when they are present. Hands are put on hearts etc. It’s ritual and custom. Doesn’t make it a cult.
Now I’m joining in the derail. Funny how threads meander, isn’t it?

Again this shows that you are not having the same conversation we are having about what they are observing. Criticism is fine - there is an anti royalist on these threads who is very astute in her criticisms of all in the Royal family and does not spare Harry and Meghan from her assessments (I will not tag her to this conversation). She does not however criticise every thing that H&M do - whether walking in the street, having drinks with friends, going to a concert, going to a sports event, taking a picture with a flight attendant, eating a meal in a restaurant, writing a children’s book, having a podcast, filming a documentary, hiking, enjoying a public holiday parade - the list goes on. This is what many people class as criticism and objectively it’s not.
