Recently spotted at a TSwift (allegedly), Barbie movie for her birthday, a restaurant, and then hanging out with friends in an Instagram selfie. She looks phenomenal in this photo!

Glad to see she's enjoying her life back home with her family.

Is that not a bit racist?

What about it is racist?

skullbabe · 05/09/2023 10:57

day and night posting good things about them

So - I know that many people in this board are in the US, Australia and Southern Africa. It is absolutely conceivable that people will post at all times of the day.

queenofarles · 05/09/2023 11:10

By the looks of it the majority don’t get much sleep at all,

skullbabe · 05/09/2023 11:16

I know it’s terrible that people are up at all hours on a site posting about topics that interest them.

But that is true of any head of state. For example, American presidents can pardon themselves and their associates (and turkeys of course 😂). National anthems are sung when they are present. Hands are put on hearts etc. It’s ritual and custom. Doesn’t make it a cult.
Now I’m joining in the derail. Funny how threads meander, isn’t it?

I don't know the lyrics to most National Anthem but the UK starts with God Save the Gracious and Noble King. Nothing unifying about it.

Rockybooboo · 05/09/2023 11:29

If people are strange enough to buy multiple copies of Spare that is up to them. We don't get a choice to pay money to the King. I don't feel obliged to stand up for H&M but i do want to criticise the Royal Family.

skullbabe · 05/09/2023 10:51

Following on from that explanation then there is no way people who criticise Harry and Meghan can be described as being members of a cult as they certainly don't think any of those.

Again this shows that you are not having the same conversation we are having about what they are observing. Criticism is fine - there is an anti royalist on these threads who is very astute in her criticisms of all in the Royal family and does not spare Harry and Meghan from her assessments (I will not tag her to this conversation). She does not however criticise every thing that H&M do - whether walking in the street, having drinks with friends, going to a concert, going to a sports event, taking a picture with a flight attendant, eating a meal in a restaurant, writing a children’s book, having a podcast, filming a documentary, hiking, enjoying a public holiday parade - the list goes on. This is what many people class as criticism and objectively it’s not.

Very well said, also about the poster you mention, they are always consistent and fair with the criticism and focus of it.

Belgian National anthem hails their sovereign :

Le Roi, la Loi, la Liberté !

im sure Danish anthem mentions king too .

National anthems often mention heads of state as pp alluded to above. And an anthem like La Marseillaise talks of carrying bloody banners, citizens taking up arms and sons being slain. I’m pretty sure the French don’t take it literally. Much like the British don’t. Anthems have grown up historically. The origins of the British National Anthem are unclear, but it may well have grown from a song in a theatre . See here

Rockybooboo · 05/09/2023 12:10

I've had to look up the Danish and Belgium citizens and the heads of state are mentioned after the first verse but the main emphasis is about the country and its citizens. Our first verse is entirely about the monarch. It shouldn't matter but if anyone is caught not singing along or standing when ir comes on will be accused of being unpatriotic.

queenofarles · 05/09/2023 12:18

If people are strange enough to buy multiple copies of Spare that is up to them
but isn’t this too extreme ? cultish even.
That urge to send out a tweet asking others to go out and buy copies to show support ? Spending money on multiple copies of the exact thing? Even if you can afford it , That’s completely deranged.

but I honestly can’t say the same about someone buying a tin of coronation biscuits from F&M as memorabilia 🤷🏼‍♀️.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 05/09/2023 12:23

No, it's not cultish. You and I might find it weird but I am not sure you understand what cult means if you think fans of celebrities buying extra copies are part of a cult.

It is up to people how they spend their money. I'm talking about the family receiving money out of taxes.

It’s not that he had to enjoy the concert - it’s just that when the original pictures came out - many people ran with the ongoing narrative of how he’s miserable with Meghan. You’re absolutely right it’s neither here nor there.

skullbabe · 05/09/2023 16:48

Would be a bit odd for Beyoncé to sing those songs to Harry - they’ve never had a romantic relationship as far as I’m aware.
