Omid Scobie writing tell all book

1000 replies

CosmosQueen · 29/06/2023 07:23

The biographer of the Duke and Duchess of Sussexwarned that his next book will reveal moments that the Royal family should be “ashamed of”.
Omid Scobie claimed he was one of few journalists writing about the Royal family whose work was impartial and “spin-free”

As such, he said his forthcoming book, provocatively titled Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival, would focus on the negative as much as the positive and would shine a light on “unsolved mysteries”
“Endgame not only looks at the successes of our Royal family but also the failures; the things to be proud of and those they should be ashamed of,” he wrote in the I newspaper

Just when will this end? I feel so sorry for their poor children who will have to live with the knowledge that their parents and his obnoxious individual were prepared to do anything to make money.

Yes that reminds me .

I WAS indifferent to Harry and M - until I came across the royalist threads here a few years ago.

That was what made the difference .
I think the royalists on here do a good job of turning the previously indifferent further away from the ‘royals’- so cheers for that !

Actually you are totally right. Me too!

It all started with the thread the day after they got engaged called "I'm fucking sick of Harry & Meghan already" (it's available to view if you're so inclined) So we are talking nearly 6 years ago.

There were some decent posters on there but there was a huge swathe of really horrible posts about a woman they knew nothing about. I was shocked. And that is when I became pro H&M.

pilates · 02/07/2023 13:02

I think there is venom on both sides of the debate. As my dad used to say “if you give it be prepared to get it back”. I don’t hate H I just don’t respect him - big difference.

Morestrangerthings · 02/07/2023 13:13

The awards night was 6 weeks ago now, Maireas.

She reallly hasn’t been seen much at all. On a walk, papped on a footpath, a restaurant. What else? Something… anyway there hasn’t been many Meghan sittings or appearances for over 6 months.

it just feels like she’s out a lot because the niche media never stop writing about her.

stillavid · 02/07/2023 13:15

So true about the difficulties of working with family. Also throw in Camilla - I mean I have read stuff on here about the OW who becomes a step mother!

And the weird who curtseys to who etc - again so glad that I am not a member of the RF.

Also, I can't imagine how horrid it must be to have staff around the whole time - no wonder Kate and William are living in a smaller house where they can wander round with a little more privacy.

I'm sorry, but who are you to deem that I am not a Republican if I support Harry and Meghan?
You can say it all you like, you are incorrect as far as I am concerned with my views.
I hate bullying, I think they have made mistakes, they have done some wrongs, but they do not deserve the level of vitriol and hate they receive. Now... I know you are going to answer and say .. what about them wanting titles ofr their children, what about Meghan being duchess of sussex etc etc.

I will answer you on that. Whilst we have a Monarchy that is clearly going nowhere they are quite entitled to use those titles if they so wish. If the whole jolly lot of them are defunct (not happening in my lifetime or my childrens) well... then they can ditch the titles along with the rest of them. I support them because of the treatment they have received.

A true Republican wouldn't support any member of the RF
If they were being vicously bullied day in day out, I would. The Monarchy is hear to stay and whilst it is, I will hold what views I want on any or all of them.

Harry was wise to leave.

But they don’t justwant to use the titles. Harry has said he supports the principle of monarchy. So you have to admit it doesn’t make much sense to be a republican who supports someone who has stated that he supports the principle of monarchy and is speaking out to protect other generations of royals 🤷‍♀️See here

LOL, I was completely unaware of the press picking on Meghan, and being very harsh, until, bored out of my brain in a prolonged covid lockdown I started to read about it.

Reading is different from posting, but I did feel more and more strongly that Meghan had been very harshly treated by the press.

Joined up here last year. Being on here tends to firm your position, that’s for sure.

Agree with what you are saying here. It's absolutely ludicrous to suggest someone isn't a republican because they are supportive of Harry and Meghan with regards to their treatment from press and public, or even just defend them on a forum. The idea you have to be against a person because they're a member of the family and you're a republican, is just wrong. I am against the concept of a monarchy. I am not against the people, necessarily, who happen to be born into the family. I would also never ever support or participate in the negative campaign against them, which as far as I can see has the sole purpose to try and ruin everything they ever do. I am a republican who also happens to think the press and public behaviour towards the royal family, Harry and Meghan in particular, is intrusive and disturbing.

I will add my voice here also to say you have been targeted on this board, and that's probably because you are one of the few long standing posters who is not anti Harry and Meghan. Most don't last because it can get very unpleasant to read so much negativity- it doesn't;t have to be actual hate for it to be unpleasant. Often brand new posters seem to hone in on you and that's just strange. I do not see anyone else having their every word picked over for any little technicality and 'error', to be mocked and focused on for hours. Its really unnecessary and its frequent.

So I have to agree with every single word Harry says to not like the continual media onslaught of him and his wife?

I have no time for the Institution but I don't spend every waking moment attacking William or Charles. It's the institution I have a problem with

I am not going to loathe Harry just because he knows his brother and father are stuck with being Monarch and heir. He was being diplomatic but being Harry even that will make for criticism

What does being a republican mean when I know they aren't going anywhere? I subscribed to republican.org because I was so disgusted with the false arrests and being held for a peaceful demonstration during the coronation. When they had agreement and a safe place to protest, agreed by the Met

Roussette · 02/07/2023 14:43

@Iwantcakeeveryday

I do appreciate your post. I hang around because I won't be driven off and because I feel that Harry and Meghan despite their faults do not deserve the treatment they get. And believe it or not there are very many posters who have been on these boards just as long as me and posting today! with a different name

Yes my posts are subjected to forensic examination. Posts I wrote 5 years ago and bought up and thrown back at me. I think very very carefully what I post because I am continually fact checked, and there is great delight if someone can find something somewhere that I wrote that only even very very mildly contradicts something I have just written.

Yes to the brand new posters, one has just done this with a post to me an hour or so ago. Pathetic!

Sorry Roussette it was more of a general comment that it seems odd for anyone who is a republican to be a supporter of someone who has said they support the monarchy going forward. I agree that personal attacks on them or anyone in the RF are not acceptable, but the support for the Sussexes is not just confined to disagreeing with personal attacks on them. They seem to be held up as some sort of heroes for some who declare themselves to be republicans which seems counter intuitive as Harry clearly still thinks monarchy is a good thing. And I am not saying this necessarily applies to you 😊

No problem @smilesy
It's interesting to discuss and for me it boils down to wanting changes made, more transparency, an overhaul of the House of lords which will be the start of change
I do think Charles has his work cut out to be honest and I will admit, I am disappointed, I thought he was going to make changes but that thought is fading fast

Novella4 · 02/07/2023 15:13

As I said above , your resilience is admirable @Roussette .

You haven’t named changed either - I sometimes think there are only a handful of really rabid royalists here - it looks like more because they name change constantly . Sometimes within the same day .

I think things are closer to change than you realise Rousette . I think there is a strong groundswell for change and once the MSM sense blood in the water some will break ranks and the stories they have been sitting on will come to light .

I don’t expect the Firm to disappear - they will continue as a niche interest for a while I expect but taxpayer funds and being above the law - all of that will go . That change would be more than enough for me and for most people I’m sure

being a supporter of someone for walking away and against the press persecution doesn't mean you have to agree with their position on the monarchy though. I mean I disagree on things with my own husband! I can support Harry and Meghan against the press and the nature and volume of negative attention, but not agree on other things, like monarchy or any other issue. In fact I think its a positive to be able to stand by your principles even when its concerning someone with whom you may disagree elsewhere.

As far as change, do you really think so? There is really not one politician who would dare touch that hot potato, but I was encouraged by Starmer saying they would look at the HoL. Can't come soon enough!

Bring on an elected chamber. When you've got sons of KGB officers, donors, and a very pretty 29 year old who worked for a year or two as the equivalent of an intern, but now elevated to becoming Lords and Ladies, there's something very very wrong.
They hold our destiny in their hands. Trouble is Starmer needs some Labour ones to actually make the changes he wants to, quite possibly it's rather a chicken and egg situation

Yes of course all posts are closed examined and challenged - you've just done it to me!

And yes, it's right that posts that go too far are reported, and if MNHQ agree, removed.

Its very noticeable that @Roussette is specifically focused on and often repeatedly challenged for hours over a minor and unimportant word or phrase and quite often a new poster will specifically select her immediately to demand answers to questions. Not that long ago one word had posters mocking and laughing at her for over. a day and it wasn't particularly relevant to the thread. It does;t happen to the same degree to any other poster.

I cracked a very mild joke, who anyone would've known about if they'd been here a few days.

You asked for the 'data' on a very light-hearted non controversial post. I asked why I had to provide that, but well done on getting it deleted!

If you think that's a PA 😮
