The royal family

Did Harry get the better deal

I can’t even imagine the prison of being Williamsnd Kate and I honestly feel this even though I’ve no staff or palaces. The hours with their children on show during a coronation, their children criticised, security concerns, the time alone coordinating outifts. The hours over the coronation weekend and then a public engagement with kids. Imagine having everyone photograph you when you are bloated with your period or fighting with your husband that day. I sm
not saying women over 40 should be invisible but that the pressure to look hot while playing tennis just shouldn’t be on you as a Mum of 3.

I think the claustrophobia of it is also the weight in their shoulders since the coronation. The royal family rides on the media and without fashion and royals of varying ages and babies and events, the media lose interest. The weight is firmly on those senior working royals.

I just find them utterly claustrophobic to watch especially the kids. I wonder why the British public doesn’t question it. They’re not being poorly treated but doing official engagements at 6 ?

Yes the royal family is steeped in history but so are many things, that doesn’t make it right. It does mean people just don’t question it.

Is it right for children to grow up like that ? We see the end result for child celebrities and the many royals who’ve ended up fairly unhappy and obsessed with their own fragile ego and identities.

I don’t get it and I can’t help but feel the Sussex children got the better end of the deal.

I thjnk if I were Kate I’d ask my husband to give it all up. Why don’t they ? Take a duchy and run !!!!

You don’t have to see things in papers to know they happen. The general public are usually pretty respectful. I’m not saying it’s perfect but actually they do have quite a lot of privacy compared to what it could be like . To be honest it’s not just royals is it, I am more worried about all the instagrammers children or the Beckham children who seem to be papped everywhere .

Totally agree. The Wales' children have a lot more privacy than so many instagrammers etc who's kids lives are basically lived out on SM.

It's not like they're longing to get down to Sainsbury's with Lynn from Romford.

That reminds me of a post from some time back when someone said they wouldn't like Kate's life as she couldn't just nip out to Tesco's whenever she wanted.

LadyVictoriaSponge · 28/06/2023 14:01

I wouldn’t worry too much OP, they can opt out of the line of succession if they so wish and can live a life of unadulterated luxury, there is always some next in line who would be more happy to take over.

MadamWhiteleigh · 28/06/2023 14:04

I find the idea of not being able to say to my children ‘You can be anything you want to be’ but instead ‘This is what your life is going to be’ very difficult actually.

So agree with this

No saying "follow your dreams"

Thats not true. they are picked up everyday from school we don't see pictures of that. they are often out and about in Norfolk, eating at the local pub at the cinema, on the beach, at the farm park, buying sweets etc in the local shops. No one posts pictures. They play in school teams against other schools, never seen anyone post photos. They have friends and go to peoples' houses and children's parties, no photos. They have tennis lessons and football lessons at admittedly pretty exclusive clubs but there are no photos. They were on holiday with their grandparents at Easter and no photos. I am not saying it's perfect but its not true that they are photographed everywhere in public because they are not.

And if they are photographed, the photos might appear on social media or in the foreign press, but almost never in the British media. The 'agreement' to leave royal children alone is mostly adhered to.

When they lived in Wales, surely there was a photo of Kate wheeling the supermarket trolley. I know she had more freedom then. She can't drop everything and nip to Tesco now she's a princess. She just pops to the corner shop in Dersingham, the one where Renee's auntie's cousin's girl is one of the Norfolk blondes William has on-going affairs with. Oh, bugger, I'll be reported for frivolity.

Nightlystroll · 28/06/2023 16:30

Going to Tesco v being queen.

I've been to Tesco thousands of time. It really isn't that great a day out. Why's it some sort of holy grail activity?

I'd love to be queen. I'd be absolutely brilliant at it. Tesco? Pfft.

Labradorandshiraz · 28/06/2023 16:33

Is William having affairs ? The Verbier ski photos and the rose rumours do leave me wondering

If there’s one thing I know it’s that Prince Harry isn’t having affairs, that requires a discreet support network.

I thought that too. Probably why the comment stuck in my mind.

Maybe that's why he has a hotel room permanently booked in his name. Let's start that rumour. You do realise the person who initially mentioned the story of Williams 'affair' has said he made it up

How exactly do you know Harrys not having an affair. Maybe his discreet support network are managing to keep it under the radar at the moment

Nightlystroll · 28/06/2023 17:02

myrtleWilson · 28/06/2023 16:43

Yeah, but it was unexpected, was it?

Yeah, maybe he wasn't bluelighted to hospital, maybe he was bluelighted to his girfriend's house? That's why there are no open reports at the moment.

Milcar · 28/06/2023 17:10

I couldn't say to DD 'follow your dreams' because that cost more money than I could afford.

A friend is in a similar position with her daughter, who is talented in musical theatre. You need to train intensively from a young age to have a chance.

The reality is for most of us that there are limits on the opportunities our children have.

Milcar · 28/06/2023 17:10

You are all wrong. Harry now identifies as a cat and was taken to the vets for assessment.

Nightlystroll · 28/06/2023 17:11

No ones having an affair. No one should be trying to break marriages up, especially if they have children.

Didn’t take long for the mask to slip and the real agenda revealed. Busted OP.

Jesus wept how do you know for a fact?

I doubt he is. I also doubt William has. However how can you claim it’s the one thing you know?

Labradorandshiraz · 28/06/2023 17:29

@TediousTim who are you really Perth boy ?

Love the morally superior police riding in on their white horse for the royal Family. For gosh sakes, KM’s tits have been all over magazines & William had been labelled the prince of pegging. Harry has sold them out in a book and Diana did before that. I thing the ship has sailed on the royal family being a protected species.

Love royal gossip. Never said I didn’t. They’re a bloody soap opera and marketed as one.

I started a thread about them, not a magazine.

what irritates me is this idea they’re some sort of morally superior family that deserve to be upheld and the pinnacle of British society.

Theyre wealthy people trading their privacy for power and pretending to be about service when it’s really just politics in disguise.

OP posts:
Labradorandshiraz · 28/06/2023 17:40

And here comes Charles unashamedly pedalling his political agenda and freely admitting he’ll be a King that meddles.

Youve got a Princess that’s virtually disappearing into thin air and doesn’t talk, just wears fashion. She presumably exercises obsessively at best.

royal Kids on parade.

A mother of the future king who died at the hands of the press and sacrificed her privacy and it appears nobody had learned nor cares, and just gaslights Harry over his concerns.

I mean the whole thing is an embarrassing sh-t show and the British public suckles at the rest of the royal family likes it’s this wonderful thing.
