Harry and Meghan slammed by Spotify executive after podcast deal ends | The Independent

The old thread got closed, just as I was trying to quote tweet someone! So I've started this one, because this shitshow is still rumbling on

You two try to interpret every comment as a criticism.

Hmm - I don’t think I’ve done that at all. I said I disagreed. But you do you.

Roussette · 16/07/2023 22:16

Grace. That's fine.

But I haven't said any of those things about you you're saying!

I picked on the 'living off other people' like Tyler Perry was forced to lend them a house, when he offered it and was very happy to do so and has said so more than once.
That's all
I think they're fine.

Gilmorehill · 16/07/2023 22:29

Only asking because you stated it with such confidence. Where do you get your sources from in order to be sure you are correct in what you are saying? Honestly I think you just make things up. Can you prove otherwise? Anyway I call bullshit that the no dogs rule is unenforced. Even if it was as a RESPONSIBLE dog owner, I would heed it.

Gracewithoutend · 16/07/2023 22:58

I never said he was forced. I said he wasn't living on his own money. He lived in a house and with security that TP paid for. And he lived off Charles' money that he sent him. Hence he was living off other people rather than supporting himself. So that doesn't make him financially fine. And, indeed, he himself says he was very concerned about his financial position.

Gracewithoutend · 16/07/2023 23:07

I know, Roussette, but I wanted to put to bed any idea that I wish them ill-will in their future, that I expect them to fail, or even that I want them to fail. Because none of that is true and I felt that was the way the posts were going.

Anyway. I'm sure they'll be fine in the future. They just need to find the right route forward for them.

That's good to hear. Yes, they will make their own way. Whether they were or are fine, we know nothing really do we?! Smile

Gracewithoutend · 17/07/2023 11:35

Whether they were or are fine, we know nothing really do we?!

We might not know how they are now and we can't know about how they will be in the future. But we do know how they were in the past. And Harry himself has said that when Charles stopped sending them money, he was worried how he was going to keep his family because he had no immediate means of support. Why wouldn't you believe him?

Nomoreheroics · 17/07/2023 12:35

I’m not sure why it’s down to Harry to support them anyway. Meghan could go back to acting or do adverts . I would have thought that would be the obvious course of action. They’d have to live on a smaller scale and ditch the designer clothes and private jets though.

Wheresthebeach · 17/07/2023 12:43

But Harry has inherited £34 million. How can anyone with that sort of money complain that they don’t have enough?

Who's he inherited that from?

The Wills are sealed so unless he has announced this, how do we know this? I didn't know this.

themessygarden · 17/07/2023 13:15

Roussette · 16/07/2023 20:49

Really? Well Tyler Perry is, I believe, not a dodgy character and is godparent to one of their children. Not sure what is seedy about him Shock

I knew nothing about the Canadian property, it was just a stop gap wasn't it. Is it as dodgy as th £3million cash in carrier bags given to Charles by a Qatari politician I wonder...

I am not saying Tyler Perry is seedy (although he could be, who knows !) I am saying that accepting multi million pound gifts from a stranger is seedy.

I agree with you, its no different to Charles accepting 3m cash for his charity from a ME sheikh, Andrew accepting 'loans' from businessmen, Harry accepting expensive gifts from billionaires and oligarchs who he had never met, all of these gifts are given for no other reason than their Royal status.

It is all a very murky and distasteful business.

Why? He is a friend, he wanted to help them out, they accepted. Seems to me you will find anything to criticise them for. This is a new one though! In everything that has been repeated on these threads endlessly, this hasn't come up yet, so well done on that lol

It's very different to accepting bags of cash from a Qatari oligarch.

Tyler Perry has a very good name in the business.

This criticism is a very far and silly reach. They aren't allowed to accept help from a friend now.... rightio!

Roussette · 17/07/2023 13:22

BTW what expensive gifts did Harry accept from oligarchs and billionaires?

He paid rental on the Canadian property. A friend (Tyler Perry) lent him a property for a short while. He ain't a billionaire.#
That's it. Curious about the expensive gifts

Wheresthebeach · 17/07/2023 13:29

A quick google says 'Thanks to the trust fund left by Diana and the money from other inheritances Harry is thought to have a personal net worth of £36 million.' Now Harry isn't going to announce it all, but by any standards he's inherited huge amounts of money and has no right to complain.

Howsimplywonderful · 17/07/2023 13:37

Tyler Perry had never met them when he made the offer, so to say ‘he was a friend who wanted to help them out’ is completely untrue.

Roussette · 17/07/2023 13:40

Howsimplywonderful · 17/07/2023 13:37

He went into great detail as to why he wanted to help them. There was nothing in it for him. Why shouldn't he?
And why should H&M turn him down ? They have since become friends and he is godparent to one of the children.

Why are people so worked up with someone wanting to help someone. I don't get it.

Ahhhh... hang on, it's Harry and Meghan and everything they do has to be criticised! It's law!

What a desperate reach this is.

Howsimplywonderful · 17/07/2023 13:47

I didn’t comment on what he did, I only commented that your comments implied they were friends when he offered the house which was untrue.

No need to start frothing

AliceOlive · 17/07/2023 13:49

Wealthy people do loan their houses out. It wouldn’t have cost him anything really. It was a nice thing to do. If someone offered me a vacation home I’d likely take them up on it.

How did we even find out this was what happened?

Honestly Harry’s whole life has been an expensive gift. Do you think he’s ever had to pay for festival or concert tickets or ski holidays or shooting days or cars or frankly anything. They get ‘invited ‘ to things .

Bless the two of them I do think they have got themselves into a frightful mess as my grandmother would say ! But honestly the idea that he’s ever had to work for anything is nuts

It’s her local market, maybe she has an understanding with them about her dog. Maybe it’s an emotional support dog.

She's already got an emotional support dog.

Although they do say he's spending quite a lot of time staying in hotels atm

Yes of course. He was/is a member of the RF. Lucky Kate and family in the royal box at Wimbledon, what I would've done to see that match! I'm a massive tennis fan.

Back to applying in the ballot

What a peculiar word to use about me. Frothing.

I don't froth. I don't know how to.

Just a saying innit.

e.g. "Well they do say it never rains but it pours"

It's not that deep
