No great surprise there... Would love to hear his story about Zooming Prince Harry, I can only imagine his frustration with the whining ninny!

@Qbish
You and others have been dragging Meghan for over SIX years.
Now you’re bashing Harry, too.
You’re bullies and haters.
Bullies and haters killed my sister.
I suppose you think that’s funny, too.
When does it stop?
When is it enough?
Are you hoping for the Sussexes complete destruction? Will that satisfy your lust?
I don’t particularly care about the Sussexes one way or another but I have a serious problem with bullies and bullying.
Please stop the bullying before some crazy person takes what you say literally and this all ends badly. It only takes one person.
Please.

I am truly sorry about your sister, and I can see that you are, naturally, very upset.
But please understand that dislike and criticism of public figures who put themselves in the limelight is a very different thing.
Harry and Meghan want to be talked about - they would prefer it if they were loved and praised, but that has to be earned.
They are becoming more and more critisised

Puzzledandpissedoff · 18/06/2023 06:59

Why is it okay for H&M to make money out of their opinions, but no-one else?

Another question that's unlikely to be answered ...

AutumnCrow · 18/06/2023 07:23

The ‘f*cking grifter’ story (and Simmons’s other previous comments about H) was even in The Telegraph yesterday afternoon so it’s very much out there for discussion in a number of newspapers including a broadsheet.

The Telegraph said it had contacted the Sussexes for comment.

It’s going to be hard for the Sussexes to put this one back in the box.

Italiangirlinlondon · 18/06/2023 08:06

Well, many outlets are reporting Meghan is about to sign with Dior. I really doubt that Dior wants to be dragged into this current fiasco and I hope it’s as good as done, otherwise they may think twice.

Gut instinct says leaking that to try to stop the grifters story and put something positive out was not wise, she should have kept her powder dry till she got there.

I also hope it’s not over exaggerated, as they do over exaggerate a lot, and they maybe hurtling to another own goal. I genuinely hope not though, but there is a good chance they’ve just made another disastrous move.

BethDuttonsTwin · 18/06/2023 08:18

Amusing to see this thread. Not so long ago MN immediately deleted any posts calling them this. Guess it’s ok now someone from the actual company who employed them acknowledges it’s true 😁

AutumnCrow · 18/06/2023 08:36

I agree the Dior press leak could prove costly IF it is connected with the Sussexes or a Sussex, @Italiangirlinlondon, in terms of money and reputation (assuming such negotiations were ever happening).

The way the MailOnline has reported it: there’s something they’re not saying. They probably already know the outcome and are setting up a Hubris Special. ‘Dior hopes dashed …’ etc etc.

Howsimplywonderful · 18/06/2023 08:44

If she’s getting free Dior clothes as a brand ambassador, she can’t bill invictus etc for her wardrobe.

It went down badly before when David Beckham billed a charity for the costs of first class flights even though a sponsor flew him for free ?

LadyMuckingabout · 18/06/2023 09:01

I believe that Netflix was billed for the Invictus wardrobe. It was subsequently thought that the documentary should not focus on Meghan’s fashion parade and has been heavily edited.

TrashyPanda · 18/06/2023 09:08

I’ve clearly missed something.

what is that about Meghans Invictus wardrobe?

I think it was just the new outfits she wore to the Invictus Games last year that totalled about £38,000 apparently. She has an expensive wardrobe and tastes so I am not sure if that is all that extreme for a rich socialite out at an event. But her wardrobe got a lot of attention and press last year!

Agree, that article was very weird and seemed more like a PR piece for a man called Ari who made money during covid by getting people to fight on an Arabic island. All very crass and tasteless, which is possibly exactly what DM is aiming for. The Dior connection sounds very speculative and they probably put the piece out in hopes of spoiling the deal. There is little chance Dior would want to be associated with people like in that article.

Apparently being a brand ambassador isn't always the best deal. Read something in the past that it basically means she's contractually obligated to wear Dior for all red carpet events and the styling is very strict. There are usually no "out there" outfits allowed, bordering on boring. This results in fewer photos and less PR. Since Meghan tends to get relentlessly criticised for things in general, it would very highly risky for Dior to associate their brand with her just in case an outfit or appearance is unflattering. Instead of being luxurious and aspirational, people will pick apart the price, cost, and context of wearing something so expensive. God forbid she gets into another high-speed, near fatal chase through Manhatten traffic wearing a Dior gown...

roxyro · 18/06/2023 10:01

This bit really gets me. It surprised me how much as I am no royalist but I really can see and acknowledge the Queen's devotion to duty and her continuing to work until the age she did. It can't be a huge amount of fun at that age to have to keep going to stuff like the state opening of Parliament no matter how tired or disinterested you are. She kept doing it though.

It must really have been galling for her to see Harry behave in that way. I think sh was a woman with a core of steel so I don't think she'd have been crying into her pillow. However, the absolute disrespect they showed her, the institution she had worked her whole life for and general decorum must have been very painful for her.

It definitely is a part of the reasons why I really dislike both Meghan and Harry.

This. The late Queen had just lost her husband and was in terrible pain suffering from bone cancer. I’m no Royalist but it’s unforgivable.

I am very sorry about your sister.

But Harry and Meghan have made themselves public figures by doing an interview with Oprah, taking part in a multi-episode documentary about their public and private life, done a podcast, written a book, etc. They are not above criticism. And as PPs have said, they were happy enough to throw their own staff and families under the bus.

I have no idea what you mean by this:

Please stop the bullying before some crazy person takes what you say literally and this all ends badly. It only takes one person.

Nobody on this thread has wished them any physical harm. We are just interested to see the chickens coming home to roost.

Oh my goodness.

i was remembering the jeans and white shirt she wore when she and Harry were dating. Thought she looked amazing then. And appropriately dressed.

£38k on clothes? What on earth was she wearing? Harry always seems to attend wearing jeans and an Invictus polo shirt.

CathyorClaire · 18/06/2023 11:31

I'm wondering what Spotify expected out of this deal in the first place.

H&M were upfront about being committed to worthy but dull sounding content that would only appeal to a niche market. Did Spotify really expect royal stardust to sweeten that?

I'm not surprised it hasn't been renewed but really after the banal 'The Bench' and NF dropping the equally dull sounding 'Pearl' it was surely inevitable

GobbolinoCat · 18/06/2023 11:33

All I think is if I was in mid deal myself with Spotify... Forget it. Very unprofessional of this man indeed no matter what happened.

I think all of those stories are H&M’s PR desperately trying to salvage the direction of the media.

Freefall212 · 18/06/2023 12:10

Her PR people have done a good job of already making people forget about being dropped from Spotify and getting the conversation to change to her being wanted by Dior. Even if Dior doesn't pick her up, the conversation and headlines make it seem like she is wanted by major brands and still very marketable.

Howsimplywonderful · 18/06/2023 12:15

Being called a ‘fucking grifter’ in public by a senior member of Spotify will linger no matter how many puff pieces about Dior their PR people release

They might as well do a cover version of ‘desperados’ for charity

alloutofluck · 18/06/2023 12:20

People keep wanting to talk about Harry and Meghan. As long as they do, they will be marketable.

The meghan haters are the same kind of people that dunked nadiya hussain’s head in a toilet when she was a teenager. Bullies never change, just change their methods.

I'm not sure how people gossiping about them on a royal chatboard is going to make them marketable.

If they're so marketable, why haven't they scored lots of lucrative deals in the past 3 years?

Much like MN’s founder describing those that relentlessly and repetitively gravitate towards threads about Meghan for the sole purpose of writing vitriolic nonsense about her as ‘DERANGED’.

BastetsWhiskers · 18/06/2023 12:33

@IcedPurple they did score lucrative deals - perhaps Spotify wasn't suited to their skillset
