No great surprise there... Would love to hear his story about Zooming Prince Harry, I can only imagine his frustration with the whining ninny!

Con artist.

I think the pp who said they expected others to do the work had it right.

It's definitely a pattern.

Penguin Random House were really frustrated that Harry kept pushing back the release date on the book.

Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos was fuming that it took two years to get their documentary.

Spotify is clearly done with them after getting so little content from Meghan and nothing from Harry in 2 years.

Where is this fantastic work ethic that is touted about them?

shmiz · 17/06/2023 10:38

Thanks @donquixotedelamancha - just googled it ! - pickpocket / swindler
basically someone who takes money for nothing 👍

allabouttheboy · 17/06/2023 10:41

None of the royals understood what working really means. They are used to a half hour visit to a charity and calling it work. Or turning up to make a pre written speech at an event and calling it their project. They all do it.
So I am not at all surprised Harry had no idea what real work is.

Highandlows · 17/06/2023 10:42

May be I do not understand business. I would not make deals with con artists. This did not even ended up well for Oprah but serve the greedy people well to make money out of trashing people lives.

People go on about the work ethic of the whole RF- it's bonkers.

From direct experienced I know that they are chauffered to a place, look around for a bit, shake some hands, then off they go. Everything is planned out and they are hand held throughout. The hardest working of them do this for about 1 day in every 3 (most a lot less).

That's not a job. It's not hard work.

There's a brilliant book about Prince Charles. You'd be amazed at all the things hes done and achieved out of the public eye. He's been at the forefront of so much.

“Shoot this guy to the sun,” Simmons said on his podcast. “I’m so tired of this guy. What does he bring to the table?
“He just whines about s and keeps giving interviews. Who gives a s? Who cares about your life? You weren’t even the favourite son. … You live in f*ing Montecito and you just sell documentaries and podcasts and nobody cares what you have to say about anything unless you talk about the royal family and you just complain about them.”

wow,

Elior · 17/06/2023 10:45

It was unprofessional of him to speak out so soon and so openly. On the other hand, was he pushed to the absolute end of his tether and left in a state of delirium after having to work closely with Harry? He should buddy up with Harry's ghostwriter for some therapy.

allabouttheboy · 17/06/2023 10:47

Spotify executives work with celebrities all the time some of whom will be a nightmare. If you can't handle it, you should not be in the job.

DolphinsInTheSea · 17/06/2023 10:47

I have really mixed feelings on this.

It was unprofessional. I didn’t like the hint that he knows more and will spill it when drunk at a later period. I think whatever happened should have remained private.

However, I don’t have sympathy for H&M as they also ignored others privacy and also kept dropping hints about how they had more to tell.

This is how Harry has been acting towards his family.

I think it's sad but unsurprising. Businesses in the states are cut-throat. Harry was never prepared for that.

The best thing they can do now is to return to the UK, let Archie and Lili go to a nice private school and serve under William and Kate. Live a quiet and dutiful life. Settle comfortably in a nice stately home, I hope that's what they'll do. It would be the best outcome for them and their kids.

wow,

Incredibly unprofessional.
And you can say the same about lots of influencers.
He is also wrong. Lots of people for some reason are obsessed by Harry.

Highandlows · 17/06/2023 10:52

@allabouttheboy imagine how much of a nightmare they are.

BitOutOfPractice · 17/06/2023 10:52

I agree that the guy is just playing harry at his own game with the teasing that he knows more and might tell. That is exactly how Harry has been trying to sell books, interviews, documentaries for months. All the teasing, innuendo about massive revelations to come. Followed by a damp squib half truth that never amounts to a hill of beans.

I am also sick of hearing about hard working royals. They simply don’t.

Good observation! This guy has out-bitched them.

HRTeatime · 17/06/2023 10:55

I really don’t think you can say it was particularly unprofessional when he’s speaking about a bloke who has happily shovelled shit all over his family, who are in the strange position of not being able to put forward their own version of events. If you want to tell your “truth” expect others to do the same.

What is a grifter ? What does that term mean ?

A grifter is someone who benefits or takes the recognition of the work of others. They don't do their own work but instead use other people and their work. Like putting your name on a big report that other people wrote because you added two sentences. Or the person who has never cared about their family then just as a parent dies, they suddenly show up and act very loving and take the spotlight when other people did all the caregiving.

Must mean something different in the US.

@KnickerlessParsons I think you might mean grafter.
Grifter makes me think of a drifter, so not sure it's a particularly complimentary thing to say about someone...

KnickerlessParsons · 17/06/2023 11:00

Ah yes: grafter/grifter!

Thanks.

This is nothing to do with Oprah. The Oprah interview made them potentially more bankable.
I am talking purely in a business sense. Without the Oprah interview Spotify may not have been interested at all.

I see what you're saying but I suspect that these days opinions on the 'success' of being on Oprah's sofa might vary.

One of my takeaways from the Oprah interview was seeing Meghan getting into her stride with her narrative and then Harry coming in an contradicting her. For many, it was the start of a 'hang on a minute!' process of reassessment of the Sussexes' claims, or at least it raised questions about what claptrap Harry had been feeding his wife.

He's not 'bankable' in the way he needs to be or she wants him to be, I don't imagine. But of course I could be entirely wrong.

yes

and being creative is hard

not everyone can do it. most people (including me) aren't capable of creating much. there's a reason you've heard of people like Phoebe Waller- Bridge and you haven't heard of me.

and the reason we've all heard of Harry is because of who his dad is, not because he's got any particular skills or talent. it's hard to be clear eyed about your capabilities, but he hasn't got the chops to be creative. and that's OK. the vast majority of people in the world are in the same boat and many of them live happy and productive lives. it just depends on whether he's going to have the sense to figure that out
