No great surprise there... Would love to hear his story about Zooming Prince Harry, I can only imagine his frustration with the whining ninny!

@IcedPurple they did score lucrative deals - perhaps Spotify wasn't suited to their skillset

The Spotify and Netflix deals were made 3 years ago, when they were still quite popular.

The Spotify arrangement is over, and other than a 'documentary' for NF, they've not produced much for them either. So my question remains. If they're so 'marketable', why haven't they scored a load of lucrative deals in the past 3 years?

BastetsWhiskers · 18/06/2023 12:41

@IcedPurple not sure - I'm not sure even they know which way they're going to jump.

I suspect they snapped up offers when they appeared to be more lucrative without thinking more about how the contracts would be fulfilled.

They do need a more steady stream of income though so hopefully they'll find it.

MamoruHisaishi · 18/06/2023 12:42

seems like they’re in danger of losing their Netflix deal as well:

SirQuintusAureliusMaximus · 18/06/2023 12:48

If they're so marketable, why haven't they scored lots of lucrative deals in the past 3 years?

They did - Spotify and Netflix and his book deal and impact officer rubbish for that mindfulness company

However, brand ambassador stuff is more tricky for them because its basically pure advertising. I think Meghan still harbours political ambitions so probably isn't too keen to appear as a blatant sell out.

If they want to do an advertising deal, it would need to be the right brand - something sophisticated and image enhancing - but I'm not sure those brands would want to be associated with them now. They missed that window.

Like I said before anyone in her position, like Kate Middleton, is someone who is photographed A LOT and whose image appears to millions of people across print, internet and broadcast media. This means putting anything on her clothes wise or accessories is going to result in the product selling out because so many people have seen it, the exposure to the proportion of people who like it will be multiplied manifold more times than a basic advert.

But association with her now - given the laughing stock criticisms of them with the world wide privacy tour, attacks on RF, 'car chase' that never was and now the grifters means that any company associating with her would have to be happy with that.

For high end companies (the Chanels, Patek Philippes, even Diors of this world) that now looks like high risk because a big part of those brands is the aspirational element. If you are being promoted by a grifter that is not a good look. The risk isn't worth the gain.

On the other hand for middle market companies (mid-luxury and premium brands), it looks like a better bet because they are more accessible and would get huge exposure to a wider customer base that can afford it. Thinking of brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Max Mara. But I bet in Meghan's little world she would think this was beneath her and would cheapen her.

I think they missed their window for supreme/ultra-premium brands - at least for clothes. I think she maybe could do a make up one - a la Liz Hurley with Estee Lauder.

& now

SirQuintusAureliusMaximus · 18/06/2023 12:52

not sure what happened to the end of that post...

& now they've been called grifters, signing up to advertise looks so desperate.

Apart from his private income and her former "acting" career, I'm not sure what realistic long term options they have. They are both unqualified to do anything really. As a member of the royal family Harry had value (like Andrew - perceived access to the head of state and power) but now he isn't even speaking to his father by all accounts.

Much like MN’s founder describing those that relentlessly and repetitively gravitate towards threads about Meghan for the sole purpose of writing vitriolic nonsense about her as ‘DERANGED’.

deranged is actually a medical term!

I was told I had a “seriously deranged” liver when I was diagnosed with a terminal genetic disease. I was given a 20% chance of living more than 5 years. Somehow, I went into spontaneous remission, liver went back to normal and docs actually referred to me as “a medical miracle”. Coming up for 14 years now.

CathyorClaire · 18/06/2023 12:59

Wouldn't surprise me.

These things often have a tendency to snowball.

That's amazing @TrashyPanda! Well done to your liver.

As for Meghan and Dior, I just don't see what's in it for them? She doesn't go to red carpet events, like the Oscars, because she was never successful enough, and the Met Ball only happens once a year. Other than that it will be concocted events like dinners and lunches and her being made to wear what they want.

But, whatever happens, it seems like Meghan shilling herself out for "influencer" Insta posts or being a clothes pony is all they have now.

I think her options are limited. Harry will increasingly become a liability, rather than someone whose royal connections will open doors and provide opportunities. His drug use, his habit of blabbing private conversations and other people's business, his apparent inability to tell the difference between 'his truth' and fact, will make people and organisations wary of becoming involved with her or them. Plus the fact that nobody who has worked for them or with them seems to have a good word to say about them.

Amazing. Here’s to plenty more years.

She didn't.

She said that over 90% of posts (not posters) were reasonable, and others a bit deranged (again posts, not posters)

And as MNHQ keep telling us, report posts that you think are unacceptable.

GobbolinoCat · 18/06/2023 13:38

I think the dior of the world are a little above the ramblings of an unprofessional spotty man trying to cause a stir.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 18/06/2023 13:41

Even if Dior doesn't pick her up, the conversation and headlines make it seem like she is wanted by major brands and still very marketable

If it's true, that is ... time will tell

Amazing (and wonderful news) to hear about your recovery, @TrashyPanda ... long may it continue (flowers)

The arrival of the pandemic must have disrupted original plans considerably. It's not been a normal 3 years by any stretch, though. But things are largely settled back down now commercially.

The Bob Simmons story?

It was even in The Telegraph yesterday.

As dear Jim Hacker said in Yes, Prime Minister, Don't tell me about the press. I know exactly who reads the papers. The Daily Mirror is read by people who think they run the country; The Guardian is read by people who think they ought to run the country; The Times is read by the people who actually do run the country; the Daily Mail is read by the wives of the people who run the country; the Financial Times is read by people who own the country; the Morning Star is read by people who think the country ought to be run by another country, and the Daily Telegraph is read by people who think it is.

The clue is in the article’s title, which appears to highlight an extract of what she said: ‘Our users are deranged when it comes to Meghan’. If quoting the words of their founder is unacceptable then this would certainly be a deranged system of moderation.

The meghan haters are the same kind of people that dunked nadiya hussain’s head in a toilet when she was a teenager. Bullies never change, just change their methods.

Don't be silly. No one has threatened physical harm to Meghan.

She, however, as been believably outed as a bully. Not physically, as far as we know, but has reduced underlings to tears. But maybe she can change, become a better person?

Appearances can be misleading

The "deranged" comment is: "They are so strongly anti-Meghan that we've had to do what we did with Madeleine McCann and cobble it in to one topic because it seems slightly deranged. Ninety percent of our content is incredibly supportive, but attention is drawn to the controversial topics, which are very active because people have very strong feelings"

And the other issues with this are
a) there never was a Madeleine topic, and
b) the Royal family topic was in existence before H&M even met

JeandeServiette · 18/06/2023 14:51

Freefall212 · 18/06/2023 12:10

Her PR people have done a good job of already making people forget about being dropped from Spotify and getting the conversation to change to her being wanted by Dior. Even if Dior doesn't pick her up, the conversation and headlines make it seem like she is wanted by major brands and still very marketable.

Probably.

I don't understand the purpose of that little pap walk this morning/yesterday though.

Because it's so often backgrid, and because of the time in Canada when Harry wrote a scalding piece to the paper he held responsible for the forest stroll pictures, I assume Harry isn't aware of the pap arrangements. Bit odd.

Err… not sure how you think her words have been misinterpreted. The meaning is very clear. One could suggest the arguable aspect is the accuracy of the choice word ‘slightly’.

AutumnCrow · 18/06/2023 14:59

I wonder if that humiliating 'car chase' in NY was the final straw for her. She and Doria were very downcast / non-reactive in the car, while H was all over the place, filming with his phone, issuing orders. Then came the daft 'spokesperson' statement (which I think was him) and more ridicule from the media and social media.

Meghan lost 'her' night and it became all about him. Massive red flag, as some would say on MN.

Meghan will do what makes Meghan successful. And we all have feet of clay.
