@MadamWhiteleigh
Don't forget that William settled with NGN. Some of your examples could have been discovered on his phone.

Charles and Harry will both have lots of staff who could have overheard arguing on the phone or discussion about said argument. I know that there are NDAs but I wouldn't judge someone making extra by leaking that to the papers.

It might be easy to narrow down flight times if you know which airline the celebrity prefers and which airport they will fly from. For example a quick google revealed that there are on average 3 direct flights a day between Heathrow and Johannesburg. They are between 1820 and 2230 because departures are public record. Based on previous behaviour you might know that they avoid British Airways which leaves Virgin as the airline.

You might also know that they generally opt for Heathrow and it has the Windsor Suite there to accommodate them because it’s their preferred airport.

kirinm · 06/06/2023 16:26

@TrashyPanda did he mention it today? I can't for a minute imagine the court being allowed to use not turning up to sit in the back as justification for a finding against him.

Rinoachicken · 06/06/2023 16:27

If Harry left the voicemail about Burrell on Willian’s phone - wouldn’t it be Williams phone that was hacked? Not Harry’s?

And William has already settled his case, so presumably had evidence of this.

tigger2022 · 06/06/2023 16:28

I get the impression that PH’s motivation is to nail them for SOMETHING. He’s brought so many claims maybe one will succeed. But if all or the majority of claims are not upheld, MGN will claim a win right?

Boulshired · 06/06/2023 16:28

It stuff like he had to be hacked for them to now Chelsy gave him a tongue lashing, but he doesn’t know if there ever was a phone call. That sounds like the story was made up rather than hacking.

Howsimplywonderful · 06/06/2023 16:28

Will Harry attend the rest of the trial after giving evidence or will he head back home to California

polkadotdalmation · 06/06/2023 16:28

Boulshired · 06/06/2023 16:18

I don’t understand the tactic of the witness statement, it is too many points and too long ago it would trip most people.

I suspect it is just the points he wants to make about his experience with the press and his particular axe to grind. I also suspect he has been told the case has little chance of success but he wants his 'day in court'. Something only the rich can do and which is a two edged sword.

SoTedious · 06/06/2023 16:30

I was wondering about the Paul Burrell is a shit thing - what has that to do with the hacking of Harry's phone, did he phone himself and leave a voicemail?

Icanbringmyselfflowers · 06/06/2023 16:31

*Harry says in his witness statement the level of detail in articles about his trips with Chelsy Davy “disturbing”.
“References to spending ‘hour’ on the phone with Chelsy, I don’t know how anyone would know that, our relationship was private,” Harry says.
“Our trust in our friends reduced rapidly in a very short space of time,” Harry adds.”

he’s literally killing his own case. This last statement about his friends indicates he thinks or thought it was them, which means it’s possible it was.

CathyorClaire · 06/06/2023 16:32

Just catching up and this bit jumped out at me:

Mr Coad adds that Prince Harry may have "discomforted" the judge by instigating a dialogue with him.
"He has done that on two occasions. One, he politely questioned the way in which he is being cross-examined. Two, he wanted to add something so he consciously turned from the KC to the judge and added something."

So he ducked out yesterday in favour of a two year old's birthday gig and now he's yapping directly at the judge and still not expecting to piss him off?

What a tool.

I hope that he doesn't think that his voice on someone else's voicemail is a crime against him?

ArcaneWireless · 06/06/2023 16:34

I have no doubt that PH has had a bloody awful time of it with the Press over the years.

I have no doubt that it has impacted on his life sadly. And his mental health. I can’t imagine the pressure. The dismay. The hurt.

I don’t doubt that he thinks he may have been hacked. I think I would prefer to think that rather than friends or the like have sold me out. If he has been hacked then that is shameful. But merely believing it to be so is not enough. It unfortunately equally might be down to someone making a quick sneaky pile of dosh at his expense. Or a journalist taking a hopeful punt at a story or circumstance which was fortunate enough to hit the mark.

His frustration is real. I do understand the need to air his upset and anger. But perhaps this wasn’t the platform.

And after today’s proceedings, I don’t think it will bring him any more peace.

But he's coming across like an idiot, because the Mirror KC is ripping apart every one of his allegations with solid basis - PH cannot prove any of these 30+ stories came from hacking. I've just caught up on the entire thing on the Guardian's Live reporting thread and he's even admitting he hasn't bothered to check his own evidence! He's going to lose because he's not proving his case at all, so I don't think he's making the point he clearly wants to - he's undermining himself completely.

IcedPurple · 06/06/2023 16:35

I don’t doubt that he thinks he may have been hacked. I think I would prefer to think that rather than friends or the like have sold me out.

But hasn't he been going on for the past 3 years about how his family and the 'institution' have been 'briefing' against him?

Boulshired · 06/06/2023 16:35

A lot of what he is saying would be expected, a long distance relationship would lead to hours on the phone, that’s a simple assumption rather than proof of hacking, proof of hacking would be details in the phone calls.

mixedrecycling · 06/06/2023 16:36

I think there is a certain amount of attributing the obvious to a 'source'. Devastated by parents divorce? All too likely. Spending an hour on the phone to girlfriend? Very likely. And neither likely to generate a rebuttal. Cynical and unpleasant, but not proof of hacking or betrayal.

One thing we agree on, at least 😃

I think he has to in case he needs to be recalled for rebuttal evidence.

Dunno.

I was quoting another post while wondering that myself.

Possibly a Sky commentator?

He will be free to go once re-examination by his own counsel has happened but will probably be told he could be called back.

Could be. The 'legal expert' on Sky sounds like he's a Harry fan boy.

WheelsUp · 06/06/2023 16:40

Some of the examples he's given are silly really. Most women would be furious if their man went to a strip club. It would be easy to gamble on the probability that she gave him a tongue lashing.
