And if he was bullied at school for being ill, shouldn’t his beef be with the school for allowing bullying??!!

MrsLeonFarrell

but he also seems to forget he’s happy to court media attention when he profits directly

That's where he is going to get some really uncomfortable questioning. I hope for his sake his lawyers have prepared him thoroughly.

MadamWhiteleigh · 06/06/2023 14:16

If this is really all about the ‘real’ victims, the ordinary people, why not bring much stronger cases on their behalf instead?

Because they can’t afford it. You need a lot of money to bring a case to the high court.

It's a pity that there isn't someone wealthy who would be willing to fund some of those cases so they could come to court...

The greed, venality, dissembling, double standards, arrogance, short sightedness, hypocrisy, stupidity and lack of self-awareness is repulsive.

And I thought I was good with my lists of his disreputable behaviour! 😂

Well they reportedly got 88 million for their Netflix interview, and he was already worth about million, I don’t know how much he got from spare but it will have beaten Netflix by the time all, royalties counted, so this is pocket change to him if it costs a couple of million. It’s not about the money and he can easily afford it.

No way they got anything like that sort of money from NF. That's not how they operate.

This one case isn't going to bankrupt him, but he's spending an awful lot of money on court cases, and has no obvious sustainable source of income. So it's not a frivolous amount of money to him either.

MadamWhiteleigh · 06/06/2023 14:19

OMG I can’t honestly believe that some people think he wasn’t hacked.

Whatever you think of Prince Harry, these tabloids are absolutely up to their neck in it with their shitty behaviour and that’s what we should all be outraged about.

PicturesOfDogs · 06/06/2023 14:20

Going back to the article about Diana, he seems to get really upset if she’s referred to as paranoid.

Something about, she wasn’t paranoid, she just knew what was going on, as do I. I’m not paranoid either.
(Or however it was phrased)

But then goes in to talk extensively about how paranoid he was and lost friends over it.

It’s actually quite sad, he’s obviously very fragile, but clearly won’t listen to anyone.

That's where he is going to get some really uncomfortable questioning. I hope for his sake his lawyers have prepared him thoroughly.

The KC seems to be focused on asking harry very basic questions, but very cleverly, and thus highlighting thr lack of evidence and utter stupidity of what harry is saying.

Harry appears to think if anyone had a story on him it was illegally gained and as it hurt his feelings, then he doesn’t need evidence. The simple fact it was published is evidence enough for him. Sadly that’s not how the law works.

mixedrecycling · 06/06/2023 14:21

My guess is that he was hacked, but courts (quite rightly) look at proof.

That’s not the point being made, the point is can he prove he was, is there any evidence and was it in the last ten years since that shit stopped.

you are taking the same line harry is, which is they pulled that shit So he must have been. Law doesn’t work like that. You need to prove it.

Rinoachicken · 06/06/2023 14:24

it’s just…baffling at this point.

“Green finds the interview that Harry gave to a Press Association journalist in 2002 around his 18th birthday.

It was in turn published in various Sunday newspapers, Green says, for example the Sunday Times.

Green points out the similarities between the Sunday Times article and Daily Mirror article, about which Harry complains.

“The private information about which you complain in the Mirror article had been revealed by you in an interview and then published in Sunday newspapers before appearing in the Mirror article,” Green says.

Do you still maintain that the Mirror article was based on unlawfully gathered information, Green asks.

I believe the article was connected to an invoice,” Harry says.

“And so what?” Green asks.

“The timing was suspicious,” Harry replies.

"And so what?” Green asks again.

Harry says the appearance of the interview in the Sunday newspapers was enough to incentivise other journalists to unlawfully gather additional information, Harry says.”

TrashyPanda · 06/06/2023 14:25

Harry says he is unable to recall exactly which articles he has seen and which he has read

as his granny (rip) so wisely said “recollections may vary”

The greed, venality, dissembling, double standards, arrogance, short sightedness, hypocrisy, stupidity and lack of self-awareness is repulsive

Yet you have no word of criticism for the editors, journalists and private investigators who allegedly hacked phones, blagged medical records and paid for private information?

sheworemellowyellow · 06/06/2023 14:27

MGN's defence is solid: ok, so this shit happened to you, but you can't prove it was us can you?

That's all they have to do. I don't think anything significant is going to come out of this, unless Harry has a brain fart. It doesn't need to, because he doesn't have a case against MGN. He's brought this case because he's thrashing around looking for an avenue to pursue against whoever he can. Just, not clever at all.

Lots of criticism. I only wish the 'little people' who have far stronger cases against them had the money to pursue a case. Maybe by someone wealthy with a common interest in holding the tabloids to account funding it, and shining a spotlight on their cases.

You should have privacy that's not in doubt but so far the distressing articles seem up be that he broke his thumb and had glandular fever - these don't help his case I don't think as how distressing can that be to be reported in the big scheme of things - he is going to need to unfortunately be more personal but if he had a 'tampon gate' wouldn't we already know it?

The articles on his fancy dress party - while I'm sure draining etc didn't change the fact that they reported on something stupid he choose himself to do.

He's an angry man and you can't wholly blame him but I agree he has taken everything no matter how inconsequential to heart.

I still don't really accept that there was never a way to plough his own path - other royals (even spares) did it - I'm just not convinced he could have even just started to do his own thing once William was married and with George's arrival. They all know how it's going to go in the future as William takes over etc - Harry would have the choice of being an Anne or Edward or just go off and do something else

So far, he gave more of himself away in Spare then the media seem to have ever done?

The best thing that could happen to Harry now is if the British media did a complete blackout on him and his wife/kids and just left him to it but it's like a game now.... he is now feeding the fire himself

Everyone knows he was hacked! It's not about that in this court case, its about evidence and harry has very little convincing evidence. Everyone agrees the papers are a cesspit, but Harry isn't the one to reform them, at least not with this ridiculous case where he is being held to account for once. He would be better donating his massive fees to the campaign group Hacked Off to get reform underway.

Courts don't operate on a basis of 'belief'. They operate on evidence. Harry needs to provide evidence to support his claims that he was hacked on these specific instances.

Do you believe he has successfully done so?

Well, someone wealthy is doing it on their behalf - is PH not putting himself through this to shine a light on the tabloids’ behaviour? It’s hardly fun for him is it?

clyspa · 06/06/2023 14:40

I think asking posters to tear into the tabloid editors is a bit like the why aren't you complaining about Prince Andrew cries of outrage

Because it's rhetorical and there's no debate or analysis - everyone agrees

Harry is polarising because he has vestiges of right on his side no question but you can't hand on heart think he's doing this for the little people
