Mawkish, cringe posts on FB again

I remember all this erupting on Facebook with the passing of The Duke of Edinburgh/Captain Tom/The Queen…and predictably posted by the usual suspects on mine 😬
A proliferation of Diana centric ones this time. Some people really need to get over it. Yes, it was incredibly tragic that she died in a horrific car accident, but all of this could have been avoided if Charles and Camilla had been allowed to get married in the first place.
As for the Diana one, don’t get me started on could/should of instead of have! Grrrr…..

I'm a bit worried that Paddington has become some sort of Angel of Death, though.

🤣

Loving the name changes too!

Well, it's a beautiful day here (kneels at Diana shrine) thank you, Ma'am.

@RosaMoline Just want to thank you for making my sluggish brain work. When I saw Rosa Moline it took me a minute to remember who it was. How could I forget? "A 12 o'clock girl in a 9 o'clock town" (I think it was). I've always adored Bette Davis and she was so grotesque (not really the right word) as Rosa Moline. Plus, how could I forget a character that was immortalised in one of my favourite plays, 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?'

I'm starting to hate that fucking Paddington.

Well, it's hardly his fault us it's? He's not the one mocking up photos! Leave the bear out of it!

If Diana is controlling the weather does that make her single handedly posthumously responsible for climate change?

medianewbie · 09/05/2023 08:33

WomanBitingATowel · 08/05/2023 17:21

OK, these people are intellectually first-rate, but dyslexic, and the combination of poor SPaG and a mawkish and illogical fixation with a long-dead woman who wouldn’t have become queen anyway, because she was no longer married to the heir to the throne, is pure coincidence?

Both my young people scored off the scale on pictorial IQ tests ('first rate' intelligence' is a rather nebulous term as are 'mawkish' & 'illogical') but are Dyslexic so might well make that grammatical error. Grammar is not a reliable indicator of intelligence. Sneering at others opinions whilst linking them to SEN is, I have found.

LunaNorth · 09/05/2023 08:35

Shamelessly placemarking - this thread is gold 😂

That child’s parents would have been the talk of the staff room.
That's just mean. Maybe it's all they had available to put on the child.

Yep, sure, in 2023 it's exceedingly likely the only piece of red, white or blue clothing a child has is of Diana. Yep absolutely.

give over, you're going to hurt yourself with that much stretching.

medianewbie · 09/05/2023 08:44

I'm enjoying the national of Paddington being 'an angel of death' though, & the memes about the cloaked hooded 'grim reaper' who passed across the Abbey transept were quite amusing. No assumptions re the IQ of the posters just made me chuckle.
Of course Diana would never have been Queen. She said so herself in an interview, & thus then commented that she would like to he thought of as 'Queen of people's hearts'. Nobody behaved well but Charles was by all accounts in frequent comms with Camilla even on his honeymoon.
So, I can see why some people feel a little meh about the 3rd person in the marriage Queening it aboot this weekend. However, Charles was chiefly responsible (or not) but behaved badly.
Anyways, (see what I did there, grammatically, to give you a hint of my IQ?) back to the memes of Paddington & Diana holding hands in the sky Grin

I’ve just had a look at a Princess Diana Facebook page and apparently the rain on Saturday was her tears, and the Union has dissolved as she is the true Queen of England (which was repeated endlessly)

JaneJeffer · 09/05/2023 12:00

@MaisieDaisyMay how do you know? In any case I don't think the teachers should be mocking them, do you?

Yes, I do wonder about basic understanding of, well, I was going to say UK Geography, but I'll say... anything at all really.

Maireas · 09/05/2023 16:54

It doesn't matter though, @medianewbie because Diana is dead and he's married to Camilla. I just find it so strange that people can't move on. William obviously has, so I think others should try!

i never said I knew!

if you think that's more likely than not, that's your view, but it's not mine.

where does it say the teachers were mocking the child???? Please show me

I love it when I discover another kindred spirit! I’m obsessed with the Golden Age of Hollywood. My icons are Bette, Joan and Liz T. I even named my cat Rosa Moline. She certainly has a Bette Davis personality, that’s for sure!

@Modda this is for you

My understanding around the death of Her Maj was "Paddington as psychpomp" but now I'm not sure.

Maireas · 09/05/2023 19:01

Charles!! Don't hold Paddington by the paw! Don't let him lead you into the abyss!!
