Am I the only one who's uncomfortable with people constantly saying that the Royal Family lost their biggest asset in Meghan because having a person of colour on the Buckingham Palace balcony would've been a nod to our current society, who's more diverse. As a black woman, this is actually offensive (and I'm not even a fan o Meghan) but to me, it just proves to me that you see her as nothing more than a non-white token who can be used to make the Royal Family look more diverse

I give up mixed. I looked at his IG, his website and his Twitter. He does what a paparazzi does. Grab shots, unexpectedly.

I have my view, you have yours. I doubt he would bother saying this if it weren't true, it's his MO to grab shots

Can't be arsed to talk about it anymore! No point is there, we won't agree so saying "we all agree" is not the case!

Goodnight to you

mixedrecycling · 11/05/2023 23:01

Of course you can't 😂

Goodnight!

Who was Kate slighting when wearing the Queen’s diamond festoon necklace at the Coronation, then?

She has worn Diana’s diamond and pearl drop earrings a few times now. Presumably, she likes them. And, as Princess of Wales, she wore a pair of earrings worn by the last Princess of Wales. That’s continuity, not a dig at Queen Camilla. Who by way was wearing a huge diamond crown and a huge diamond necklace (worn by all Queens since Victoria for their coronations) and diamond earrings too. I don’t think Camilla would have felt too bothered by anyone else’s jeweller6y choices.

I never said Catherine was slighting anyone. Not even sure why you thought that.

My whole point is this, if that were Meghan, I fully believe that the press would have posted nothing but negative articles. Catherine wore them and no one thought a thing.

Also, no one knows 100% if the watch Meghan was wearing was the one she purchased or the one from Diana. Again, people are making hypothetical assumption.

Meghan has worn Diana’s jewellery in the past though, including to events where Camilla was also present (Diana’s aquamarine ring to her evening wedding reception, for example) and all the press had to say was that it was a touching tribute to her late Mother-in-Law. So I don’t think you are correct.

If anyone is making hypothetical assumptions, it's you!

Speculating about what hypothetical members of the press would say in the hypothetical event of Meghan's hypothetical appearance at the coronation... wearing hypothetical Diana earrings...

Perhaps you're getting muddled with the blood diamond earrings gifted to Meghan by the Saudi regime (which she wore to an event a couple of weeks after the murder and dismemberment by Saudi agents of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi)? The press certainly criticised her for that.

I'm hoping very much that the monarchy really has lost M and H now. I can't see any reason for either to return to the UK (except in a private capacity) for the foreseeable future. I wish they would just disappear!

But I know I hope in vain.

Maybe they would 'disappear' in your eyes if the British media would stopped writing articles on them.

Wishing people subject to death threats would ‘disappear’ doesn’t sound great.

Howsimplywonderful · 12/05/2023 12:21

Those 44 express articles are largely the same one probably with a few new lines added and headlines added to generate clicks, as people on average stay on the website 2 minutes and read two articles

The express sells 172k copies based on the latest circulation and its internet traffic rankings are dropping rapidly looking at the analytics online where it’s dropped from 792 to 847.

So hopefully it’s bye bye to bad rubbish before too long

Howsimplywonderful · 12/05/2023 12:22

The most likely thing to disappear is the express

Whaeanui · 12/05/2023 12:22

We can only hope!

Here they are. Headlines are all very different. I think it very wrong, do you?

Yes, hopefully, they will fold, I can't imagine who reads their crap.

I hope Harry gets Diana’s jewellery back if they split up

Howsimplywonderful · 12/05/2023 12:52

@Roussette

Well that strategy doesn’t seem to be working for them. Their circulation is dropping rapidly in both print and online form. I don’t think I’ve ever accessed the website and I’m not going to start now.

The average viewing is 2 articles so they’re not hanging around to read 44. I’ve no idea how many articles appear in the print article on a daily basis but it looks like their print strategy isn’t working either

I have a hard time sympathising with them anymore tbh. I don’t think they even mind it really. How many thousands of negative tabloid headlines have they generated for the rest of their family now? They’re racist, they’re neglectful, they’re violent, they’re frigid, they’re bad parents, they made Meghan cry, they didn’t take mental health seriously, they don’t answer their calls, they have a dissatisfying tiara booking system… If M&H wanted the quiet life they could have had it, they would have been forgotten by now with just the occasional “Meghan And Harry (Remember Them?) Spotted Enjoying The Sun!” Perhaps they would prefer being universally beloved, but they clearly vastly prefer making the headlines than not at all.

KattyJo · 12/05/2023 13:33

I tend to agree that a lot of the attention is of their own making.
Most wealthy celebrities that want a low-profile life manage to get one.

Glad to hear it isn't working.

Writing that number of articles (44 in 24 hours) targeting one person/a couple is obscene. Seems like other posters don't agree.

That made me laugh out loud

Try focusing on your own understanding, that would serve you better

TaLooLaBell · 12/05/2023 14:19

It's ridiculous to criticise her for wearing the watch , I wear expensive jewellery when exercising, it's perfectly normal. I think if she had been intending to steal the limelight she could have made a better job of it than that
