It's apparent on the coronation threads today that this is an emotive subject on both sides. So for a snapshot of opinions please comment simply yay or nay as to whether you feel Charles is your king!

Nay,cannot stand him.

I do like Camilla. So happy to hear more about her.

LadyKenya · 06/05/2023 15:48

Nay.

OuiLaLa · 06/05/2023 15:48

Nay

MyopicBunny · 06/05/2023 15:50

Not my king. I don't think it makes sense to have a RF in 2023. All it does is reinforce inequality.

However, my 3 year old daughter has been walking around saying 'God save the king'. Which goes some way to illustrate how potent indoctrination of children is, even when it's not something endorsed by their parents.

A hearty and huge fucking "nay" from me,

Today's pomp and grandeur when so many are relying on food banks in an increasing economic crisis was one of the stupidest things I have seen in a very long time.

I'm opting out of the question.

My ancestors have been embroiled in too many "Not my king" incidents for me to underestimate the risks and variable outcomes :D

(Richard III and Lady Jane Grey for the record)

Really?? That is so interesting!! How did you find this out?

Yes, yes, yes

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 06/05/2023 15:56

Big nay from me.

JamSandle · 06/05/2023 15:57

Soproudoflionesses · 06/05/2023 15:58

Yes because it is out of my control. Not that l would argue it anyway, l like havng a monarchy

Sunshineandrainbow · 06/05/2023 15:59

Nay

pilates · 06/05/2023 15:59

Yay

UndercoverCop · 06/05/2023 16:00

You can say nay all you like, unless you renounce UK citizenship he is your king like it or lump it. Same as Trump US citizens may not have voted for him and may have strongly disagreed with him but that didn't change the fact that he was president of the US, therefore the president of any US citizen.
It's an empty trope.

Ylvamoon · 06/05/2023 16:02

😁 his ancestors come from my home country. They clearly weren't welcome there so had to find a new place where they could play Kings & Queens. 🤣

So nope not my King at all!

NurseCranesRolodex · 06/05/2023 16:03

I really like the man and think how he is insightful, for young people and nature & the environment. However I'm a republican at heart.

MaisieDaisyMay · 06/05/2023 16:03

Well, he IS the King, like it or not, so he IS YOUR king.

feel free to leave if you don't like that.

CornishGem1975 · 06/05/2023 16:05

He's the king of the country I live in, so yes he's my king whether I like it or not, surely. The naysayers are frankly quite ridiculous. Saying no, doesn't make him less king!

MyopicBunny · 06/05/2023 16:07

feel free to leave if you don't like that.

😂 what a lazy argument. Citizens of the UK have the right to challenge how it is run if it makes no sense.

Fortboyard · 06/05/2023 16:09

A massive giant big NAY!

My reason is that I believe in equality. No individual is inherently more deserving of my respect than any other purely due to accident of birth.

MrsMiddleMother · 06/05/2023 16:11

Nay

I mean he is the King of England regardless but he's not my king

Inkypot · 06/05/2023 16:14

And this right here is a big part of the issue. Forever referred to as King of England rather than of Britain. So can understand why the rest of GB remain nonplussed about the whole affair.

Ineedwinenow · 06/05/2023 16:14

Yey from me! I’ve seen some of the work and projects he’s done and despite what a lot of posters think, he’s actually a genuinely good egg and will be a great king

MillieOns · 06/05/2023 16:15

I’m a British Citizen so he is my king, whether I like it or not. I'm not bothered that we have a monarchy. I quite like the pomp and ceremony that goes with major Royal events.
