It's apparent on the coronation threads today that this is an emotive subject on both sides. So for a snapshot of opinions please comment simply yay or nay as to whether you feel Charles is your king!

Nay

Nay! Nay! Nay! Wrote a passionate essay about getting rid of the monarchy aged 12. Hold even more strongly to that view now, 37 years later.

QueefofSheena · 06/05/2023 15:12

Nay

sashagabadon · 06/05/2023 15:13

It’s yay from me!

Wavingnotdowning · 06/05/2023 15:15

Nay, I am not a medieval peasant, although some mornings I wake up feeling like one. And, as my daughter put it, she's not swearing allegiance to a man just because he popped out of the right vagina 😂

Snowjive2 · 06/05/2023 15:16

Nay. The monarchy is just embarrassing.

CheesePleaseLoueese · 06/05/2023 15:17

So many Nay-Sayers... it's a "Yay" from me!

Pourmeanotherwine · 06/05/2023 15:18

Jackienory · 06/05/2023 15:26

A big YAY.

Sudeko · 06/05/2023 15:27

No. However, I will support Kate and Wills if they ever make it (uncertain due to Charles).

GrouchyKiwi · 06/05/2023 15:27

Yea

I'm a UK citizen, so unless I'm prepared to give that up (which I'm not!) then it's a moot point! Whether I agree with the monarchy or not, King Charles III is the King 🤷‍♀️

This!

I’m not interested in the King and his family but he legally is my King and there’s not much I can do about it. Can’t imagine I’ll ever be in a position where I’ll have to decide whether or not to bow/curtsey to him, but I hope I’d feel brave enough not to.

Pawtucketbrew · 06/05/2023 15:30

Yay.

Much rather have a king than a president. Not a royalist but enjoyed the ceremony more than I thought.

I wouldn't bow or curtsey. On the other hand, I saw Brian May in the flesh, and gibbered like a schoolgirl.

So maybe he's my king.

Big YAY

Kaftanesque · 06/05/2023 15:32

Yay.DH has been involved with the Princes Trust and I'd rather have him as our head of State. We can elect our governments and look where that gets us .So how would you pick your president ?

Inkypot · 06/05/2023 15:40

No, nay, never. Delighted about the independence rally taking place today though!

As much as I will never be a monarchist (Scottish and Catholic lol) I do agree you make a very valid point.
We all got lumped with Boris etc so I can definitely see where you're coming from.
