I noticed that there was no thread on the live events of the Coronation itself. Thought I might start one.

The orchestra and the opera singer were magnificent. Brings chills in my opinion.

I’m looking forward to seeing William, Kate and their kids. I hope the news reports are untrue, and Kate gets to wear a tiara.

Royal children look so beautiful. Gah it's just lovely.

jay55 · 06/05/2023 11:08

All the thick stockings and silly shoes really should have been modernised by now.

overitunderit · 06/05/2023 11:09

This man has the voice of a blimming Angel

Monkmeister · 06/05/2023 11:09

Who's singing?

Rinoachicken · 06/05/2023 11:09

Camilla looked like she was struggling a bit with the length of her dress at the front as she was walking up - I felt the front hem could have been taken up even just a cm

qazxc · 06/05/2023 11:10

Loving the music.
Why did Camilla go first? I would have expected Charles to lead the procession.

Coronationcapers · 06/05/2023 11:10

We're right under the flight path of the fly past but its hammering down with rain so don't know if it's going ahead

Butteredtoast55 · 06/05/2023 11:10

They were singing Long Live Queen Camilla/ King Charles in Latin.
Vivat Regina Camilla or Vivat Rex Carolus

Monkmeister · 06/05/2023 11:09

Who's singing?

Bryn Terfyl. (King of Wales.)

Coronationcapers · 06/05/2023 11:16

I'm so nervous for him and the chap in charge of pointing to the words he has to read!

Rinoachicken · 06/05/2023 11:16

The man holding the cards for Charles to read from seems too far back to me - Charles is practically having to crane his neck to read it - could they not have been placed in front of him and changed as required?

Rinoachicken · 06/05/2023 11:17

By the time it’s Williams turn maybe there will be a screen built in to the prayer stool thing for him to read from 😂

Camilla's expression walking up the aisle is priceless - you just know she'd rather be trotters up at home with a gin and tonic watching it on the telly.

They look like they've had a blazing row. Her expression is dead pan.

Coronationcapers · 06/05/2023 11:17

I hope he's got a decent pen this time

Rinoachicken · 06/05/2023 11:18

🤣

Wow, the Wales' look incredible.

I'm normally a big fan of Royal events but I'm not sure about this one, I think it's because I'm not overly keen on Charles, but it just seems a bit, well, much...

Agreed. Weddings and funerals yes but this just feels a bit ridiculous.

MaryBoggintonTrotterSmyke · 06/05/2023 11:19

Who's the lady in blue? Is it the countess of wessex?

Rinoachicken · 06/05/2023 11:20

Sophie and Edward are the duke and duchess of Edinburgh now aren’t they?

ZeroFucksGivenToday · 06/05/2023 11:20

I want to see Kate and William in full too.

I don't love Charles by any stretch but I do like the pomp and pageantry that we do for occasions.

minisoksmakehardwork · 06/05/2023 11:21

I am sitting here loving it. Charles, according to my youngest (massive royal fan) daughter (11) thinks King Charles looks tired. It's such an emotional day for him. He's taking on head of the family with another reminder than his mother has passed.

I agree that the gentleman holding the page was a bit too far back, but I wonder if part of that is deference to the king, not being 'in front' of him so to speak. Or I might just be overthinking that.

George, Charlotte and Lois are utterly adorable and as with others, Andrew just looked out of place.

Holding the sword thing? That’s Penny Mordaunt - she’s got her work cut out holding that!

Fuckitydoodah · 06/05/2023 11:22

Probably coincidence, but I wonder if the yellow (gold) and blue carpet is a nod to Ukraine.

canina · 06/05/2023 11:22

Are the women to Caamillas left her sisters?

I thought this too.

canina · 06/05/2023 11:23
