The Coronation will bring in far more than the price tag whether it is £100m or £250m. It’s at least a £1bn based on the bidding for TV rights. As it’s an official state function, the government is paying for it and gets all the profits. A return of 900% to 400% overnight is a great investment really.
The £100-250m is mostly spent on paying regular working people in London to participate in one way or another. Which is more than the royals get- they are participating for free. So we benefit that way.
Then the £1bn goes straight to the U.K. Treasury and it’s up to Parliament what it gets spent on. Not sure if Rishi is like Boris and his Boris Island or garden bridge madcap ideas, will have to see what he spends it on. Probably will go to funding the nurses lump sum pay out imho.
