The PR Whodunnit?

So what is this all about then?
Who did it and why?
And whoever's PR team is responsible needs tearing off a strip, it's going to backfire.
I know there was a thread about this earlier today but it was deleted due to questions over how genuine the OP was. As this story is everywhere at the moment I thought I would have a try myself and see how we go. Just a couple of preemptive points:

  1. My MN credentials are rock solid so don't anyone even go there😁
  2. Lets also keep some perspective, at the end of the day we are talking about a bunch of privileged and entitled millionaires who likely wouldn't even pee on us if we were on fire and that goes for both 'sides'.

🤞🤞🤞🤞

Meghan wrote to King Charles expressing concern about unconscious bias in the Royal Family - report

The letter was reportedly sent after the duchess said in an interview with Oprah Winfrey that a senior royal had speculated about how dark her unborn son's skin would be.

Ah I apologise, I misread - it wasn't her exh who said that but his brother (her BIL). Not sure which paper it was in but here's an attachment. It says a lot about her character though. 😑

His daughter gave rather a sad interview talking about RPB’s alcoholism and subsequent death.

“Even my aunt, the Duchess of Cornwall, took time out of her strictly regimented schedule to attend. She always said he was the nicest out of the brothers (sorry Andrew). They used to spend hours doing the crossword across the kitchen table on Sundays.
She came, even though he disgraced himself when he was taken to the pub by a journalist who fed him drinks until he said mean things about her which were published in a newspaper.”

So.... it must be true... of course...

Is that all the 'evidence' you have? 😂

Well, it's an interview, of a person's opinion of her, which I was merely quoting.

polkadotdalmation · 25/04/2023 19:13

I know it's childish but the playground mentality on these threads is just mental. You must admit monteshitshow is a funny play on words. At least most humans would find word play amusing. There does seem a mind numbingly boring hyper focus by so many people on here. All with the same agenda. All posting frantically day and night. All tag teaming and ganging up on lone voices (playground again). Stick here any length of time and you start going crazy.

Meghan as Her Excellency the Ambassador to the Court of St James is a book I would love to write.

Presenting her credentials to the King, and not curtseying because Americans don't curtsey or bow to foreign royals.

Her proud husband Harry accompanying her to present her credentials ...

Arranging her first State Visit for the US President.

Hosting dinners and garden parties at that stunning Winfield House, the former home of Barbara Hutton, the million dollar baby.

And the tabloid Press unable to know just what to do with themselves because on the other hand, there's that whole special relationship to promote, but on the other hand ... the ambassador is Meghan!

You know what, let me pitch it to my agent. If Monica Ali could reimagine Diana's story, the two of us together can do this! 😁

Omg - the acres of print in the media if this actually happened 🤣. It would be a sure fire way to disabuse our politic of the so called special relationship.

I’m sure you’re a much better writer than I am (I’m more technical and scientific) - I’m sure it would be greenlit if you pitched it.

I’m afraid having watched ‘the diplomat’ on Netflix I think you’d have to pitch the Sussex’s more in the ‘Veep’ / ‘in the thick of it’ vein.

Brilliant - love political satire. Great pitch idea - the special relationship blown up by nomination of Meghan, the media/royal special relationship, the working royals and of course Westminster shenanigans - it would be a great book and show.

Now I am imagining @michaelmacrae with a huge notice board, with random newspaper cuttings connected by pins and lengths of thread as per all the best 'cold case' TV shows, lit by spotlights in a darkened bunker, uncovering the huge, decades long plot of Camilla to Take Over the World...

😂

Howsimplywonderful · 25/04/2023 19:31

@skullbabe

The whole point

The other film with St James palace references in them was one of the Omen film ( couldn’t sleep after watching the first one ‘this is for you Damien’) 😧 😀

Am pretty sure a UK ship won't blow up somewhere near Iranian waters on her first day at work ...

No - one of the tricky negotiations will be that that an extradition request is put in for a senior member of the Royal Family to answer questions from the FBI, and Meghan as the ambassador has to handle it.

😅

@derxa I don't really know how to use the word common as the UK understanding of class, rank, and class shibboleths remain a mystery to me. It's why I am agog at the endless talk of who sits where at royal ceremonies, who curtseys to whom, and all those military medals that the royals give to each other like confetti, even when the recipients have seen no active military service.

Common is therefore not a word I would use to describe anyone so I take you at your word that it is "common" to use nicknames like Monteshitshow. 🙂

Roussette · 25/04/2023 19:33

No. It's pathetic and juvenile

Howsimplywonderful · 25/04/2023 19:34

@MrsMaxDeWinter

More likely - the new ambassador refuses to listen to her advisers as she knows best (she played a lawyer in a hit show) and her husband can teach her all she needs to know (about Middle East politics)

😀😀😀

Luckily, her husband who watched the show will remind her that she played a paralegal, not a lawyer (at least not until the last two seasons) and also that the Middle East is not in London, as the US has separate ambassadors to deal with the situation there.

Which is what makes The Diplomat so wonderfully zany and unrealistic, but so much fun. 😃

Bloody hell! It's nothing to do with ribbons and medals as you well know. It's an old fashioned use of the word 'common' meaning infra dig. if you know who Nicky haslam is, he makes an annual list of things he thinks are 'common'. People of all classes used to use the word. I used it as a joke!

Oooh reminds me I should watch the Omen Trilogy again - loved me a bit of horror and stopped watching them when I had kidlets. Might ease me back gently.

Oh Roussette sometimes pathetic and juvenile can be amusing. I heard an amusing play on words the other day, RF related, and it certainly fell into that category. I'm not going to repeat it here though as my MN card would be marked forever more (and @derxa would think I'm common as muck😂!!).

I might find it amusing if it were a one-off but the nicknames and made up stuff like this is endless. And the joke wears a bit thin to be honest....

Howsimplywonderful · 25/04/2023 19:50

My brother and I were horrified and enthralled by them. We read the whole series of book series back in the 80’s - I think they’re still in my parents house

I used to be able the quote the priests prophesy.

From the ‘eternal sea he rises….’
