Kate 'resents' not having final moment to say goodbye to Queen

Kate, 41, remained in Windsor to look after her children while the immediate family headed to be at the late monarch's bedside - says Robert Jobson in new book, Our King.

Ah ok
so as he only was involved with a trafficked girl and paid her millions to go away , but didn’t “hurt “ his family he isn’t seen as bad as Harry,
im trying to make sense of it all.

Yawn...twisting words again. No one said he is or isn't better or worse than H&M. Divert... Chaff and redirect, as they say in the military.

If you're so obsessed with andrew start a thread about him.

Someone said... at least he didn't do this or that like Harry. No twisting of words. That's what a poster said.
And from that it's obvious Andrew is thought of as better.

I'll mention Andrew as much as I want.

It depends who is the person not seeing him as bad.

I think derxa and sudeko are saying that's why Andrew's family members are okay with him at family gatherings. Not that MN posters see him as less bad than Harry.

Presumably, he's told them all 'his side' and claimed that he only paid the settlement to protect his mother who was dying of cancer from a protracted court case. They may believe his side of the story. If Beatrice was involved in pushing that Newsnight interview she must believe whatever version of events her Dad has told her.

Well - not all of them - apparently William forced a 'him or me' situation at the Order of the Garter ceremony which resulted in Andrew withdrawing.

Exactly. I'm not excusing Andrew for any of his nefarious actions.

orangedalmatian · 19/04/2023 20:58

Well @Roussette, if you can't defend your heroes in a way that people actually believe, it makes sense to divert again and again with Andrew. It's what all H&M supporters do. Hate on Andrew. He's an easy enough target as he basically shuts up and stays behind closed doors most of the time. Or should I say haterz of andrew.

mixedrecycling · 19/04/2023 21:01

Well, if Andrew was my family member, I would be thinking about:
a) are they a risk to me or my children? going public about private conversations would be a risk, no evidence that my children are at risk from Andrew, so Harry more of a risk than Andrew
b) will accepting this person at private family events make it more likely that they will engage in exploitative/abusive behaviour? Doesn't apply to either Harry or Andrew. From what I understand, having a range of constructive social relationships is a preventative factor for offenders from re-offending.

mixedrecycling · 19/04/2023 21:03

Which isn't to assume Andrew has committed any legal offence.

Being sleazy and entitled doesn't necessarily mean you have committed a criminal activity - that's never been tested in court so I don't assume one way or the other.

Don't you think spilling family conversations, disagreements, arguments and making nasty comments about your sister in law, brother, father and stepmother, saying your niece and nephew need more support, and earning millions of dollars doing it, is exploitative?

mixedrecycling · 19/04/2023 21:05

Good point.

Yes, exploitative and hurtful.

I've said the same and been ripped to shreds. He's not a nice person, was lying through the Emily maitland interview, must have seen some dodgy things in the Epstein empire/mansion/island, but carried on the friendship anyway. I agree he's sleazy, but not a criminal. The court of public opinion doesn't count.

Whaeanui · 19/04/2023 21:07

Whether or not Andrew has told them some believable story, we don’t know those conversations, it’s still true that he continued to see Epstein after he had been convicted of child sex crimes. Because it was honourable apparently. He was far too close to Epstein and the family are way too forgiving of way too many men involved with these types of crimes. Why is it relevant? Well if what Harry and Meghan did is so dreadful that everyone understands why they can’t stand their company, why is it that they don’t mind being near someone with such an association with child sex crimes and criminals? It does call into question their moral judgement. It is troubling which ‘crimes’ are considered worthy of isolation and hostility and which aren’t. We are discussing the family’s relationships so theirs with Andrew is up for discussion.

mixedrecycling · 19/04/2023 21:07

I didn't want to minimise the damage done by sexual exploitation. However, that's not the only form of exploitation.

Whaeanui · 19/04/2023 21:08

no evidence that my children are at risk from Andrew

As a parent, I wouldn’t allow someone around my children that continued a friendship with a convicted child sex offender or had a close relationship with them.

orangedalmatian · 19/04/2023 21:09

I'm sure kate and William don't allow Andrew over their threshold.

Easy target!!!!!!

mixedrecycling · 19/04/2023 21:11

As I have just posted, my understanding is that family support is a preventative factor in people reoffending sexually - assuming Andrew has offended in a criminal way, which hasn't been tested in court. Nor has he paid off a criminal investigation, because that isn't allowed in the USA or UK.

So, in choosing to engage with him as a family member, I would want to think about whether he posed a risk to DD or to me.

If he didn't, then I would continue to accept him on family occasions, and challenge him on any dodgy sentiments he expressed.

Sorry? What heroes?

I have barely mentioned him on this thread. No idea what this 'again and again' is. Maybe read the thread? I only said if I want to mention him.... I will.

Wow.

You have a ranking system for people who exploit others?

Physical threats and torture are OK, compared to sexual exploitation?

orangedalmatian · 19/04/2023 21:18

What an incredibly strange thing to suggest that there is a hierarchy of evil and sexual exploitation comes top?
Domestic Murder, torture, war crimes, the holocaust?

I'm glad I have a more measured approach to the royal family.

They're not perfect, but neither are a lot of families.

Roussette · 19/04/2023 21:21

No, he paid off a victim in a civil case instead.

@mixedrecycling The cavalry have arrived so I'm off to bed. Ice dance class tomorrow 😊⛸️⛸️

orange/purple... why do you change your name so frequently? And often on the same page? I thought MN had IT settings that now stopped it?

Just curious... not because of you, but because of other NCers within a thread.

I see this thread continues to be totally unhinged.
